Chapter 129 Seducing Me in the Office
Ambrose asked, "What do you want me to do?"
Scarlett said without thinking, "I've got a ton of things to deal with. I need to get back."
He looked at her silently but didn't let go. After a moment of silence, his words jumped back to the earlier topic.
"Echo must have been bought off by Ulysses."
Scarlett's thoughts followed along. She froze, surprised. "Ulysses has reached into your company."
He scoffed lightly, "Without my deliberate permission, does he have that ability?"
So he was playing along with the scheme?
A whole series of events all involved Ulysses. Scarlett thought of the online incident last time, her tone turning slightly cold. "Seems like he doesn't have much confidence in the Serene Bay Peninsula project. Last time he used that online incident to try to force me to help him get the project."
"Online incident?" Ambrose didn't know about Ulysses approaching Scarlett privately.
So Scarlett told Ambrose about the conditions Ulysses had proposed last time. After hearing it, Ambrose's eyes turned cold. "That video was posted by Bianca."
Scarlett paused. Bianca? How would she have that video?
Ambrose described how Bianca had used Opal's phone to post the video. Scarlett understood Bianca's motive for doing this and turned to ask Ambrose.
"Did you teach her a lesson?"
Ambrose: "Blacklisted her."
This blacklisting would undoubtedly leave Bianca with no place to stand in Silverlight City. Suddenly, a thought struck her, and Scarlett's eyes lit up.
"Bianca is one of the people who knows about the Gold Valley District incident. What if I get her to testify and lift her blacklisting in return?"
Ambrose raised an eyebrow. "I'll have someone find her."
Scarlett nodded. Coming here had solved another problem, so there were results after all. She felt pleased. "Then I'll head back to work."
As she finished speaking, she saw a flash of disappointment in Ambrose's eyes. The corners of her lips curved up slightly, then she leaned close to his ear and promised in a soft, gentle voice.
"Next time, I'll wear it for you again."
Ambrose felt another tingle run up his spine. He swallowed and parted his thin lips. "Seducing me in the office?"
Scarlett glanced at him sideways and threw his earlier words back at him: "If you behave well, I'll reward you. But if you don't want it, then..."
Her next words were blocked by Ambrose. The next instant, Scarlett was pressed against the office desk.
But they'd only been kissing for a few seconds when someone knocked on the office door. Scarlett quickly pushed him away and glared at him fiercely. Ambrose didn't care at all and reached out to straighten her collar.
"No one dares come in before I respond."
Scarlett didn't dare stay any longer. She pushed his hand away. "I have to go." As she finished speaking and was about to turn and leave, Ambrose grabbed her again, his husky voice full of anticipation.
"I'm waiting for my reward."
Scarlett glared at him, turned toward the door, and walked away while adjusting her appearance, afraid something might be off and people would notice.
"Come in." Ambrose responded just as she was about to reach the door.
The door was pushed open from outside, and Ryder walked in. Ryder glanced at Scarlett approaching and noticed her lipstick had faded. His heart suddenly tightened—he'd come at a bad time and interrupted Ambrose's moment.
"Ms. Mellon." When they met, Ryder greeted her respectfully.
Scarlett nodded with a smile, her expression composed as she walked past and left the office.
Ryder stood nervously in front of the desk, looking at Ambrose's displeased expression, and said.
"Mr. Boleyn, regarding Heath's matter, a bunch of rumors have been made up and spread."
Ambrose sat down. "Have PR handle it."
"PR is handling it. Take a look at the content and see if anything needs to be added or removed." As he spoke, Ryder handed over a document.
Ambrose picked it up and scanned it. "Handle it according to this press release. Find out who spread it, and also check who Echo has been in contact with recently. Look into her accounts."
"Okay."
As Ryder was about to turn and leave, Ambrose stopped him. "Next time she's here, don't disturb us until she's left."
Ryder fell silent.
However, he felt relieved inside.
At least he was finally seeing Ambrose act like a human being. Before, he was practically an emotionless, desireless god.
Thinking of gods, Ryder's gaze drifted to Ambrose's hand—the ring was gone. He hadn't seen him wear the ring for a while now. It seemed like after he got together with Scarlett, the ring had disappeared.
Now that Ambrose had Scarlett, it wasn't appropriate to wear the ring anymore, right!
Scarlett returned to the design department and started working, completely absorbed until it was time to leave. After work, Scarlett sent Ambrose a message asking him to have someone pick up the two children.
She wasn't picking up the kids because Bianca had called that afternoon to arrange a meeting. She also informed Ambrose about this.
The meeting place was at a coffee shop.
When Scarlett arrived, Bianca was already there. She sat down across from her.
A server came over to ask what she wanted. Scarlett ordered a coffee to her taste. After the server left, she asked flatly,
"What do you want to see me about?"
"Ambrose's people asked me to testify for you. I can agree, but I want some answers from you."
Scarlett looked at her. "You want to ask why I married Wesley but could tolerate him finding other women, and never revealed the marriage?"
Bianca lowered her head and smiled. "You really are perceptive."
Just then, the server brought the coffee. She held the cup and looked down at it. "That's because he's a scumbag, and because I was blind."
"Actually, he's had many mistresses. One more or less than you makes no difference. Sometimes, not saying anything is more peaceful than speaking up."
"If that's the case, why didn't you divorce him?"
"Maybe I wasn't ready to give up completely. Now I've completely given up, so I asked for a divorce."
"I know you have a child. That child isn't his?"
Scarlett's expression darkened. "You're the one asking me for help, not investigating me."
Scarlett hated being asked about her child. What right did Bianca have? She came here to let Bianca know that she never intended to toy with her.
"I came mainly to tell you that Wesley isn't worth any of your effort. He's more heartless and ungrateful than anyone. You're taking revenge on the wrong person. You should go after the man who caused you pain."
Scarlett had said all she needed to say and got up to leave.
"I can agree to your request, but I want to join the Boleyn Group." Bianca suddenly said.
Scarlett stopped, turned around, and laughed coldly. "Lifting your blacklisting is already generous enough. Don't push your luck. I can't make decisions about the Boleyn Group either. You can ask Ambrose yourself and see how he responds."
Scarlett didn't stop again. Bianca chased after her. Outside the door, Bianca grabbed her. "Ambrose is willing to do all this for you, so he can definitely agree to this request."
"I don't need you as a witness anymore," Scarlett said coldly.
Hearing this, Bianca gritted her teeth. Scarlett was really ruthless. "Fine, I agree."
