Chapter 187 Our sweet era 2

Chapter 187 Our sweet era 2

The joy of the marriage felt overwhelming. Raven was so happy he couldn’t let go of my hands, not even when everyone tried to take pictures. The day went fast, and then the night arrived, filling the room with the sweetest lovemaking ever. Raven's tender words filled my ears; he almost forgot he used to be the hardest man, falling deeper now.

On the day of our trip, we decided to return visit Haneul ridge academy first. Yoon and Eunwoo, who had always been around, came with us.

As we entered the car, Raven looked toward the horizon. "I think we need to see it for the last time," he said. "At least make a ribbon closure so no one is ever permitted to build anything near here again."

I nodded silently as the car started. However, getting closer to the school brought a shocking realization. At the outskirts of the school—the very same school that had been burnt to the ground—it looked as though nothing had ever happened to it.

"Are you sure we are at the right place?" Raven spoke in shock, staring at the building.

My heart skipped multiple beats, a heavy thud developing within me. Something isn’t right, I thought. This school shouldn’t be here again.

Raven moved closer. He noticed a woman standing at the front row of the school, facing the building and snapping pictures. As we approached, the woman turned immediately, smiling brightly.

My heart skipped again. Raven almost staggered.

"Sae… Sae Byeok?" I whispered, staring at her.

She gently shook her head, holding her phone up. "I am the new owner and the new mistress. I’m sorry that everything went so quickly with the building, but students need to start class."

"That’s a lie," I retorted, stepping forward. "Who are you, and why do you look so much like Sae Byeok?"

The woman smiled, unbothered, and turned to Raven. "You must be Sae Byeok’s only son?"

Raven nodded repeatedly, in a daze. "Who are you? Why do you look like her?"

The woman pointed toward the inner office. "Why don’t we move inside? We can talk privately."

I hesitated, buy Raven held me so tightly that the wedding ring almost stuck painfully on my finger. We moved inside the office. The woman sat down, smiling from me to Raven, then to Yoon and Eunwoo.

"The bravest," she noted, her smile almost making me angry.

"Who are you?" I repeated. "Why are you denying your identity?"

The woman gently turned back to Raven. "You really know your mother well?"

Raven stared in shock, then nodded. "What are you trying to say?"

The woman almost laughed. She pulled out her phone and tapped the screen before pushing it toward Raven. "My name is Dina," she said, pulling out her card and placing it on the table. "Mistress Dina."

Raven placed the phone toward me. The woman on the screen was standing beside another woman. The second woman looked very different, but a strange aura made her look like someone I had met before.

I turned to Raven, who looked more confused than I was. "You know her?"

He shook his head gently.

"Dina," she repeated. "And you’re sure you really know your mother very well, Raven? Remember, she left you while you were just six years old. And remember, she could transform into anybody at any time."

"So, what are you saying?" Raven said, his voice shaky.

"I am the real owner of the school," Dina stated. "The woman beside me in that picture is Sae Byeok’s real face and her real identity."

I froze. Raven's eyes widened in complete shock. He shook his head repeatedly. "That can’t be true. I know my mother and I know her face. That woman in the picture can’t be my mother."

The woman nodded, her smile turning grim. "Sae Byeok was the most powerful creature and a demon herself." She exhaled slowly. "We used to be close friends, right from childhood and growing up together. I always told her I had interest in this land—Haneul Ridge Academy. I went on and bought the land to fully be the rightful owner of the school. It seems she made her own research about the land and uncovered something." The woman exhaled again and stared at me, then back to Raven.

"She came to me that very day and pleaded that she wanted the school," Dina continued. "She said she’d pay any amount to take it, that I should name my price. But I already had a liking for the school. That was when she was pregnant with you, Raven. Some years passed and I stopped seeing her, then suddenly she re-appeared and we started the friendship again. At that time, the school hadn’t fully opened. I was just making calls, trying to decide what was the best thing to do with the land I just bought."

Dina looked out the window. "She invited me somewhere, and something happened. I totally lost myself—my senses, my memories, everything, even my identity. I totally forgot everything about me. The only thing I remembered was that I was female."

My heart froze as I heard the agony in the woman's voice.

"Sae Byeok," Dina whispered, shaking her head. "She took over my identity and also covered her tracks well. She even blinded everybody possible to keep seeing her as though she had been the one existing before. That’s why it was difficult for you or anybody to see through her—that she was hiding under my identity."

"What a demon," I muttered in shock at the story. I never knew she had gone this far just to accomplish her evil.

The woman laughed bitterly. "She took over the school and did whatever she liked, even without paying me a dime. But that’s beside the point. A few months back, I got myself back, remembered who I was, only to hear this story." The woman smiled and turned to Siwoo. "You must be the one the prophecy talked about, the one who put an end to her?"

Siwoo nodded slowly, staring at her. It still felt strange to me; seeing the woman really felt as though I was talking to Sae Byeok. I still found it hard to believe, but I found myself believing anyway.

Dina looked directly at me, her expression shifting. "And you must be Jina?" she said, as her face went darker.

My heart froze. I never remember telling her my name...
