CHAPTER TWENTY SIX
Chapter 24
An unwelcomed visit
The next day….
As the first light of dawn filtered through the window, Nina and Nana Sam stirred from their sleep to the sound of persistent knocking on their door. With a yawn, Nana Sam hurried to answer the door, while Nina groggily rubbed her eyes and sat up in bed.
Opening the door, Nana Sam was greeted by the sight of familiar faces, neighbors from the village who had come to check on the newborn baby. The guest smiled warmly at Nana Sam and inquired about the health of both Nina and the baby. It was a beautiful gesture to experience.
Nana Sam returned the smile, her expression filled with warmth and hospitality. "We're doing well, thank you for asking," she replied, her voice filled with gratitude. "Would you like to come in and see the baby?"
The guest nodded eagerly, stepping inside the humble abode, just as simple as Nana. As Nana Sam led the way to where the newborn lay sleeping, the guest's eyes sparkled with excitement.
Meanwhile, Nina had managed to rouse herself from bed and joined them in the main room of the house. She greeted the guest with a warm smile, her eyes bright with genuine affection.
"It's wonderful to see you," Nina exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine warmth. "Thank you for coming to visit us."
The guest returned Nina's smile, expressing their delight at being able to know what the baby was doing well. They turned to Nana Sam, eager to hear more about the baby's health and well-being.
Nana Sam beamed with pride as she spoke about the baby's good health and strong appetite. She described how Nina had been taking excellent care of him, showering him with love and affection.
With a gentle nudge, Nana Sam called Nina forward to join the conversation. Nina stepped forward, her eyes shining with happiness as she greeted the guest once again.
"It's a pleasure to meet you," Nina said warmly, extending her hand in greeting. "Thank you for coming to see us again and I'm truly grateful for your love and care."
The guest smiled warmly, expressing their joy at being able to share this special moment with Nina and her family. They exchanged pleasantries and engaged in friendly conversation, asking how the baby was doing and teaching Nina how best to take care of her child and be a better mom.
As the visit came to an end, the guests bid farewell to Nina and Nana Sam, promising to return soon to check on them again. Nina and Nana Sam waved goodbye, their hearts filled with gratitude for the kindness and support of their neighbors.
With the sun rising higher in the sky, Nina and Nana Sam went back to their daily routine, life was good in Yoma and Nina was enjoying it.
***************************
As Nina and Nana Sam sat down to enjoy their breakfast after completing their morning chores, a sudden knock at the door disrupted the peaceful mood of their home. Nana Sam's brows furrowed in confusion as she glanced towards the door.
"Who could that be at this hour? And it didn't sound like visitors who wanted to check on the baby. Who is that?" she inquired, her tone stern with suspicion.
With cautious steps, Nana Sam approached the door and opened it slightly, revealing the figure of a man standing on their doorstep. Her eyes narrowed as she recognized the familiar face of Han, the man who bore a deep resentment towards Nina for no good reason.
“Han?” she exclaimed questionably. She was also shocked and confused.
Han entered the house with a slight nod towards Nana Sam, barely acknowledging her presence. His eyes scanned the room, a smirk playing on his lips as he took in the surroundings.
Nina and Nana Sam exchanged a glance, shock written clearly on their faces as they wondered what could have brought Han to their doorstep. Nana Sam couldn't contain her curiosity any longer and spoke up.
"What brings you here, Han?" she questioned, her voice tinged with suspicion. "And why are you in our house?"
However, Han paid no heed to Nana Sam's inquiries, his attention solely focused on Nina. With a hateful expression, he approached her, his gaze piercing and filled with malice. He despised everything that concerns Nina.
Ignoring Nana Sam's questions, Han turned to Nina and demanded, "When are you leaving Yoma? I want to hear it directly from your mouth."
Nina was taken aback by the sudden question, her mind was filled with confusion. As she struggled to find her voice as she tried to understand Han's intentions.
"Why do you want to know? What is your business, if I stay or not?" she finally managed to stammer out, her voice trembling with fear.
Han's glare intensified, his expression darkening with anger. "Don't play dumb with me, just answer me." he snapped, his tone tainted with venom. "You don't belong here, and I won't rest until you're gone. Do you understand?"
Nina felt a chill run down her spine as she stared into Han's eyes, the intensity of his hatred sending shivers down her spine. She couldn't understand why he held such hatred towards her, but she knew she had to tread carefully in his presence.
Nana Sam stepped forward, her voice firm as she confronted Han. "You have no right to speak to Nina like that," she admonished, her gaze steely. "If you have nothing constructive to say, then I suggest you leave. And never bother Nina again."
But Han paid her no mind, his focus solely on Nina as he continued to press her for answers. Nina felt unsafe, she didn't know what else to say and how to confront him.
She wanted to ask him about the huge man that met her a few weeks ago, but she was afraid that it would lead to more troubles.
“Please, Mr. Han if you don't have anything else to talk about I’d suggest you leave. Please we don't want any troubles.” Nina said.
