Chapter 151 Do You Have Instant Noodles?

Chapter 151 Do You Have Instant Noodles?

Amelia suddenly felt that although the Talbot family was large and wealthy, it was also very complicated.

She looked at Dorian, opened her mouth, but didn't know how to respond, so she lowered her head and continued working.

Time passed by, and the clock on the wall pointed to 11 PM. The only sounds between them were the rustling of papers and the occasional tapping of Dorian's keyboard, which seemed particularly clear in the quiet night.

"It's getting late, you should go rest," Dorian's voice broke the silence.

Amelia then realized how late it was. She rubbed her slightly sore eyes, put down the documents, and stood up. The long hours of focused work made her feel a wave of hunger, and her stomach growled inappropriately.

A trace of embarrassment climbed up Amelia's cheeks. She cleared her throat to cover her awkwardness and hesitantly asked, "Does the Talbot Villa have instant noodles?"

Dorian was slightly taken aback, then his thin lips parted, "No."

A hint of disappointment flashed in Amelia's eyes. It seemed she would have to go to bed hungry tonight. She turned to leave the study but was stopped by Dorian.

"Wait."

Amelia turned back in confusion, only to see Dorian already standing up, striding towards her. He reached out, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her in another direction without allowing any objections.

"Where are we going?" Amelia asked, puzzled.

"The kitchen," Dorian replied succinctly.

Amelia was even more confused. The chef at the Talbot Villa should have been resting by now, so what were they going to do in the kitchen?

With a belly full of questions, Amelia was led into the kitchen by Dorian. The spacious and bright kitchen was equipped with all kinds of utensils, clean and spotless.

Dorian let go of her hand, walked to the refrigerator, opened the door, and took out some ingredients. He skillfully washed the ingredients and began preparing to cook noodles.

Amelia stood aside, watching Dorian's busy figure, filled with surprise. She didn't expect this cold and domineering CEO to be able to cook.

"You can cook?" Amelia couldn't help but ask.

Dorian's hands didn't pause, and he replied calmly, "A little."

A simple answer, but it made Amelia feel curious.

The water in the pot soon boiled, and Dorian put the pasta into the pot, added seasonings, and in no time, a bowl of steaming pasta was ready.

He served the pasta on a plate and handed it to Amelia, "Eat."

Amelia took the plate, the steam rising, with delicious meat sauce and a golden fried egg on top of the noodles. The simple combination made her feel inexplicably warm. She lowered her eyes, gently stirred the pasta with the utensils, and slowly brought it to her mouth with a hint of hesitation.

Dorian crossed his arms, leaning against the counter, his deep gaze fixed on Amelia's face, his thin lips slightly pursed, with a hint of imperceptible tension. Seeing her eat, he spoke in a calm tone, but with a hint of undeniable certainty, "It's definitely better than what you make."

Amelia looked up, her eyes briefly meeting Dorian's before she lowered them again, a faint smile tugging at her lips. She chewed carefully; the noodles were al dente, the broth flavorful, much better than she had imagined. She lightly acknowledged, agreeing with Dorian's statement.

"The taste is indeed good," Amelia put down the utensils, sincerely praising, "I should learn from the Talbot Villa's chef sometime, maybe I can cook this well too."

Dorian frowned slightly at her words, his tone calm but with a hint of imperceptible coldness, "I didn't learn my cooking skills at the Talbot Villa."

Amelia was taken aback and instinctively asked, "Then where did you learn it?"

Dorian was silent for a moment, a complex emotion flashing in his deep eyes, seemingly unwilling to mention this past. The kitchen was so quiet that only the ticking of the clock could be heard, making the atmosphere a bit stagnant.

Amelia realized she might have asked an inappropriate question and was about to apologize when Dorian spoke in a low, melancholic tone, "I learned it while surviving alone outside."

Amelia lowered her eyes, hiding the flash of awkwardness in them. She quickly changed the topic, "The pasta is delicious, but there's a bit too much meat sauce."

Dorian remained silent.

The air seemed to freeze for a moment. His deep eyes quietly observed Amelia, as if trying to see through her thoughts. He knew she didn't mean any harm, just wanted to lighten the mood, but it backfired.

Amelia felt Dorian's gaze, her cheeks slightly flushed. She cleared her throat and continued, "I usually don't like meat sauce that much, so..."

Dorian interrupted her, his tone still calm, "If you don't like it, you can pick it out."

"That's true." Amelia smiled awkwardly, lowering her head to silently push the meat sauce to the side of the plate. She felt her cheeks must be very red.

Watching her clumsy movements, the inexplicable irritation in Dorian's heart gradually dissipated. He sighed softly, his tone softening a bit, "Hurry up and eat, then go rest early."

Amelia, feeling relieved, quickly finished the remaining pasta, even drinking the broth clean. She handed the empty plate to Dorian, "Thank you."

Dorian took the plate and placed it in the sink. He turned to look at Amelia, a hint of concern in his deep eyes, "People who are sick should rest well."

"Okay, I know," Amelia nodded, turning to walk back to her room with her crutch.

At the door, she stopped and looked back at Dorian, "Good night."

Dorian watched her back, his thin lips slightly pursed, and softly said, "Good night."

Amelia returned to her room, weakly leaning her crutch against the wall, and collapsed onto the soft bed.

The room was filled with a faint medicinal scent, mixed with Dorian's fresh scent, making her feel a bit dazed.

She picked up her phone, which showed three missed calls, all from Everett.

A sense of unease washed over her. She immediately called back, and the call was answered almost instantly.

"Amelia! You finally answered! Where have you been? I went to Serenity Retreat, and you weren't home. I was so worried!" Everett's voice was filled with anxiety and concern.

Amelia's heart sank slightly. She instinctively didn't want Everett to know she was with Dorian. "I had something to do and went out."

"What kind of thing? It's so late, it's not safe for you to be out alone. Where are you now? I'll come get you," Everett's tone became more urgent.

Amelia bit her lip, hesitating whether to tell him the truth.

"Amelia, are you with Dorian?" Everett's voice suddenly turned low, with a hint of undisguised anger.

Amelia's heart skipped a beat, not expecting him to ask directly. After a moment of silence, she softly acknowledged.

The other end of the line fell into a long silence, only shallow breathing could be heard.

"Amelia, why are you with him?" Everett's voice trembled slightly, filled with disbelief and hurt.

Amelia explained that the person she had a marriage contract with was Dorian, so it was normal for them to be together now.

Everett said he understood.

But Amelia never expected that Dorian overheard her conversation.

Dorian asked Amelia if she wasn't an orphan, how could she have had a marriage contract with him.

Amelia explained that she was a child of the Boleyn family, but was switched at birth and ended up in a poor family. Unable to afford raising her, they sent her to an orphanage, and a few years later, she was taken by an assassin organization and trained to be an emotionless killer named Phoenix.

Later, during a mission, she met a special forces soldier who taught her survival skills. During another mission, she was taken in by her grandfather, who found out about her biological parents, and she returned to the Boleyn family.

But shortly after returning, the Boleyn family faced a financial crisis and needed to form an alliance through marriage. The Talbot family insisted on marrying someone from the Boleyn family, and under the threat of the Boleyn family's gratitude for raising her, Amelia reluctantly agreed to the marriage.

She worked hard to invest in orphanages because she didn't want any more children to be trained as killing machines.

Dorian was shocked and asked if Amelia had been to the rainforest. Amelia admitted it and immediately recognized Dorian as the special forces soldier who had taught her survival skills.

Dorian was surprised, saying he thought Amelia had died. Amelia explained that after completing that mission, she destroyed the organization and went independent, but faked her death to avoid being found by old enemies.

Dorian revealed that he had liked her since the rainforest, but she was too young then. After retiring and returning home, he was forced into marriage by his family and reluctantly agreed.

If he had known the person he was marrying was Amelia, he wouldn't have left back then.

Amelia was stunned.

Half a month later, Dorian took Amelia to the Talbot family and explained the past to them.

Dorian and Amelia got remarried and held a grand wedding.
