Chapter 149 Only for Her
Chapter 149 Only for Her
After Amelia hung up the phone, the screen hadn't even dimmed before another call came in—Walter.
She looked at the name flashing on the screen, her brows slightly furrowed. She didn't need to think to know why Walter was calling.
"What do you want?" Amelia answered the call, her tone still cold.
"I heard you got hurt? Is it serious?" Walter's voice carried a hint of concern, but also a casual nonchalance.
"Just a minor issue," Amelia replied succinctly.
"Minor issue? Then what's with those photos online? Do you really have something with Everett?" Walter's tone grew more inquisitive.
"How's Crown Corporation doing lately?" Amelia directly changed the subject, clearly not wanting to discuss it.
"Feeling embarrassed? Don't worry, Crown Corporation is fine, not causing you any trouble," Walter's tone was flippant, but he obediently followed Amelia's lead in changing the topic.
"That's good. Keep Crown Corporation in check and don't cause me any trouble," Amelia's tone was indifferent.
"Okay, my lady. But seriously, those paparazzi have some good equipment, the photos are crystal clear. Everett's gaze, it's practically dripping with affection, it's obvious he has feelings for you," Walter circled back to his curiosity.
Amelia took a deep breath, trying to suppress the irritation in her heart. "Even if he does have feelings, I won't agree. It's not possible between us."
"Not possible? Are you so sure?" Walter seemed skeptical.
"I said it's not possible, so it's not possible," Amelia's tone grew firmer, with a hint of undeniable determination.
Just then, Dorian passed by the door and clearly heard her last few sentences.
Amelia's resolute words brought a strange sense of joy to his heart.
But he quickly denied this emotion, scoffing inwardly: What was he happy about?
After Amelia hung up the phone, the screen hadn't even dimmed before she felt a shadow looming over her. She looked up to see Dorian standing at the door, his deep gaze inscrutable.
A trace of nervousness crossed her mind, worried that he had overheard her conversation with Walter, especially the part about Crown Corporation. But she quickly masked her emotions, pretending to be calm as she asked, "When did you get here?"
Dorian stepped into the room, his tone indifferent, "Just now." He walked up to Amelia, looking down at her, his gaze deep and unreadable. "How's your foot?"
Amelia discreetly placed her phone face down on the bedside table, avoiding his gaze, and answered softly, "Much better."
Dorian's eyes lingered on her action of placing the phone down for a moment, then moved away without a trace. He raised the Fragrant Delights bag in his hand, "I passed by Fragrant Delights and brought some snacks for Bella and Rhys, and one for you too."
Amelia was momentarily stunned, took the bag, and opened it to find an assortment of delicate pastries, their aroma enticing. She picked up a piece and took a small bite, finding it soft and sweet.
"No Almond Milk Cake?" Amelia suddenly remembered the last time Dorian had an allergic reaction to Almond Milk Cake and couldn't help but joke, "What, are you afraid of having an allergic reaction and not being able to kiss?"
Dorian's lips curled into an amused smile, his body leaning slightly forward, his warm breath brushing against her ear, "Not being able to kiss?"
Amelia belatedly realized what she had said, her cheeks instantly turning red. She hurriedly explained, "I didn't mean it that way."
"Really? Then what did you mean?" Dorian looked at her flustered state, feeling a tickle in his heart, unable to resist teasing her.
Amelia hesitated, unable to come up with a coherent explanation, her eyes avoiding his.
Dorian, seeing her shy demeanor, couldn't hold back any longer and leaned down to kiss her lips.
Amelia's eyes widened, her heart pounding like a drum. His kiss was both domineering and gentle, with a hint of punishment, yet it made her unable to resist sinking into it.
Rhys, holding his math workbook, walked briskly towards Amelia's room, intending to ask about a geometry problem. He knocked on the door, which wasn't fully closed, and it swung open.
"Amelia, this problem..." Rhys's voice trailed off, and he almost dropped his workbook. He stared blankly at the two people in the room, or more precisely, at Dorian. Dorian, the aloof and abstinent CEO of the Talbot Group, was actually in Amelia's room! And their posture? Although he didn't see exactly what they were doing, the atmosphere was clearly off.
Rhys's mind went blank, momentarily forgetting why he had come.
In the room, Amelia's cheeks were still flushed, her eyes flickering with a hint of panic, like a startled deer. Dorian, on the other hand, stood up straight, his expression calm, though a faint blush was barely noticeable at the tips of his ears.
The awkward atmosphere spread through the room.
Amelia was the first to break the silence, clearing her throat and trying to cover her inner turmoil with a calm tone. "Rhys, what do you need?"
Rhys snapped back to reality, his gaze shifting between the two, filled with confusion and curiosity. But he was just an eighth-grader, unable to grasp the full picture. He held up his workbook, "Amelia, I can't solve this problem."
Amelia took the workbook, glanced at the problem, and began to explain it simply.
Dorian stood aside, quietly watching the two, his gaze deep and unreadable. After a moment, he spoke softly, "I'll leave now, I won't disturb you." With that, he turned and left the room, his back straight and imposing.
Rhys watched Dorian leave, only turning his gaze back to Amelia after the door closed, looking puzzled, "Why was Uncle Dorian in your room?"
"He was just passing by," Amelia replied casually, secretly relieved.
Rhys didn't think much of it, his attention quickly drawn to the Fragrant Delights bag on the bedside table. "Fragrant Delights pastries!" His eyes lit up, instantly craving, "Can I have some?"
Amelia was a bit puzzled, "Didn't Mr. Talbot buy some for you too?"
"Uncle Dorian would never buy us snacks on his own!" Rhys pouted, his tone carrying a hint of dissatisfaction.
Amelia was stunned. Fragrant Delights was in the west of the city, while the Talbot Group was in the east, completely opposite directions, not at all on the way. She suddenly realized that the pastries Dorian brought weren't bought on the way, but specifically for her.
This realization stirred a strange feeling in her heart, like a small stone thrown into a calm lake, creating ripples. She looked at the pastries in her hand, her gaze complex, unsure how to react.
