Chapter 107 Go and do the appraisal.
Victoria was taken aback by Brandon's sudden remark. "You mean Dylan? No way, he saved me," she said. "Enough. I don't want to hear about your past with your ex-boyfriend," Brandon interrupted her with a stern face and ordered the driver, "Let's go."
Victoria wanted to say something, but Brandon's cold gaze silenced her. He seemed to have no interest in hearing her explanation.
As they arrived home, Victoria watched Brandon walk in quickly and muttered to herself, "I'm not as despicable as you think."
Suddenly, Brandon turned around and said, "Victoria, are you still denying that the child in your belly is not Dylan's? He hates you so much, why would he suddenly care about you and even take you to the hospital?"
"You're talking nonsense. Nothing happened between Dylan and me," Victoria said.
"Hmm," Brandon smirked. "No one would care so much about a child that's not their own. It must be his flesh and blood, that's why he's so concerned."
"That's not true. I told you, the child is yours," Victoria didn't know what to say. She just felt that this man was so stubborn.
"The child should be almost four months old now," Brandon suddenly said.
"What do you want?" Victoria's hand instinctively went to her belly as she saw his gaze fall on it.
"You can do a paternity test now. If it's mine, I'll apologize for all my previous behavior and treat you like a queen from now on," he said.
A paternity test? Victoria immediately replied, "If you want to, I'm willing to do it. And after that, I want you to kneel down and apologize to me."
"You have a lot of nerve, but if that's what you want, then let's do it," he smiled, but the smile didn't reach his eyes.
As Brandon entered the room, he couldn't help but wonder if he had misjudged Victoria's courage to go through with the paternity test.
Victoria stormed into the room, fuming with anger, and began searching online for information on how to conduct a paternity test.
She read that the test involved amniocentesis, which was a risky procedure that involved extracting amniotic fluid from the womb.
The more she read, the more worried she became.
Many mothers advised against the test, saying that it was dangerous and that they had lost their babies as a result.
Victoria's hands trembled with fear, and she began to regret her decision to agree to the test. What if something happened to the baby?
That night, she had nightmares about losing her child.
The next morning, Brandon pushed open her door and said, "Let's go. The hospital is ready."
Victoria was taken aback, and her face darkened.
As she lay in bed, Brandon's expression grew even colder as he approached her.
"Victoria, don't tell me you've changed your mind," he said.
Victoria was startled and quickly replied, "No..."
He looked deeply at her expression. "Your dark circles are so heavy. It seems like you didn't sleep well last night," he said. She had agreed so readily yesterday, but today she had this expression.
His heart sank, and his voice became more stern. "You have ten minutes to pack up and come with me to the hospital."
Without looking back, he closed the door.
Victoria bit her lip and comforted herself in her heart. He said it was safe, not everyone would have problems.
Maybe she could believe that her luck wasn't that bad.
She slowly got dressed and got into Brandon's car. They didn't speak on the way and went straight to the hospital. The doctor first examined her.
Victoria lowered her head in confusion, without the strength to speak.
Suddenly, the doctor said, "Hey, it seems like you have twins in your belly."
Victoria was stunned and raised her head in surprise. "Really? Where did you see it?"
"Look, here, two heartbeats."
Victoria placed her hand on her belly. Twins? Two children in her belly?
Her heart suddenly warmed up. This surprise was really unexpected.
But immediately, she thought of something.
"Doctor, are twins harder to give birth to?"
The doctor smiled and comforted her. "I see that you're young and this is your first pregnancy with twins. It's definitely not easy. You need to keep up with your rest and nutrition, don't have too much excitement, and premature birth is normal for twins. You need to prepare earlier than ordinary mothers."
Victoria felt her throat tightening even more. The doctor's words did not comfort her at all, but instead made her feel even worse. Soon, someone knocked on the door and asked, "Is everything okay?" Victoria walked out with a pale face and looked directly at Brandon. She quickly walked over and hugged his arm, "Brandon, can't we wait until the baby is born before making any decisions?"
Brandon looked at her pleadingly and sneered, "I knew you wouldn't dare. You were just lying to me yesterday when you agreed so readily, weren't you?"
"No, it's not that. The doctor just told me that I might be carrying twins, and the babies could be very fragile. They might not survive," she said, tears welling up in her eyes.
But Brandon did not see her vulnerability. He only spoke firmly, "That's not a reason for you to back out now. Come with me and get the test done, right now!"
"No, I can't," she said, refusing to budge.
"Don't make me do this, Victoria," he grabbed her arm and dragged her forward.
"No, if you touch my baby, I'd rather die than let you do it!" Victoria cried out.
Brandon stopped and turned to look at her again, "Victoria, look at yourself. I'm not asking you to terminate the pregnancy, just to get a test done. You're making excuses."
Victoria shook her head, tears streaming down her face. He wasn't a mother, he couldn't understand a woman's concern for her child.
He still pushed Victoria into a hospital room. But at that moment, Victoria suddenly grabbed a fruit knife from the table and held it up to her own neck.
"Victoria," Brandon exclaimed in surprise. "What are you going to do?"
Victoria stood against the wall. "If any of you take one step closer, I'll stab myself. Don't think I'm joking."
Looking at Victoria's resolute expression, Brandon didn't want to say anything more. He simply said, "Victoria, you really disappoint me. Fine, go ahead and leave."
Victoria looked at him in disbelief. Was he really letting her go? Brandon waved his hand, signaling for everyone to step back.
Victoria still held the knife as she walked outside and ran away, only dropping the knife when she was far enough.
Watching her leave, Brandon punched the wall beside him, his hand immediately covered in blood.
