Chapter 323

Chapter 323

A black Maybach was parked outside the gate. Maya pushed the door open and got out.

She was wearing a beige business suit today, her long hair pinned up, with no extra jewelry. She naturally carried the aura of a female CEO.

The butler led her inside.

She was carrying two elegant red gift boxes in her hands.

Jason sat in the main seat of the living room, holding a merger and acquisition document, not even lifting his eyelids.

I sat across from him and kicked his shin.

Jason closed the document and stood up:

"I'm going to the study. Call me if you need anything."

He walked past Maya without even a glance.

Maya didn't care at all. She walked up to me and placed the gift boxes on the table.

She sat down, her gaze falling on my belly:

"I heard you're pregnant with twins. Congratulations."

I told the maid to bring coffee:

"Ms. Coleman, you're too kind. Today's visit isn't just about giving gifts, is it?"

Maya picked up her cup and blew away the steam:

"I came to say thank you."

She looked up at me.

"You were right back then. A woman can't put all her chips on a man."

Maya put down her teacup:

"I thought about it for a long time after I went back. The Coleman family needs the Cooper family, but I, Maya, don't need them."

I listened quietly.

"I cleared out several stubborn shareholders inside Coleman Corporation and got absolute controlling rights."

Maya leaned back on the sofa, her posture relaxed:

"Looking back now, those days of fighting over a man were really stupid."

"Good that you figured it out."

I picked up my water and took a sip:

"So, about Jason, you..."

"I have no feelings for him anymore."

Maya interrupted me, her tone firm:

"Actually, thinking carefully, what I felt for him was more from family pressure and the obsession drilled into me since childhood. I had to be the best woman, so I had to match with the best man. That wasn't love, it was unwillingness to accept defeat."

She looked at me, a smile playing at her lips:

"Now, I only love money and power."

I smiled. This Maya was much more pleasant than the woman who used to target me at every turn.

"In that case, I wish you great success in your career."

I raised my cup.

Maya picked up her cup and clinked it lightly with mine.

Putting down her cup, Maya opened her Hermès handbag, took out an invitation, and pushed it in front of me.

"Next Wednesday. My wedding."

I picked up the invitation and opened it.

Two names were written on it: Richard and Maya.

Although I had expected it, seeing these two people actually tied together still felt somewhat strange.

"Richard has been the hot topic in our circle lately."

I closed the invitation:

"I heard he sold all the sports cars in his garage and flew to Europe overnight to get you a set of pink diamonds?"

Maya's expression didn't change:

"It's a marriage alliance. You have to put on some show for the outside world. The Allen family needs Coleman Corporation's logistics channels, and Coleman Corporation needs the Allen family's overseas resources. Each gets what they need."

"Just each getting what they need?"

I stared into her eyes:

"That day at the bridal shop, I didn't think Richard was putting on a show."

Maya's fingers paused slightly. She lowered her eyes, hiding the emotion beneath them.

"Richard is used to playing roles. His devotion has a shelf life of no more than three months."

Maya stood up and straightened her clothes:

"I don't care about the process, only the results. As long as we're married and our interests are tied together, I don't care who he loves."

She picked up her bag:

"I won't disturb your rest. Next Wednesday, I hope you can attend my wedding."

"Definitely."

The butler saw Maya out.

Jason came down from the study on the second floor, his eyes falling on the invitation on the table.

He walked over, picked up the invitation and glanced at it, then casually tossed it back on the table.

"What did she say?"

Jason sat down next to me and put his arm around my waist.

"She said what she felt for you before wasn't real love, and now she only loves making money."

I leaned on his shoulder, playing with his fingers:

"She also said she and Richard are just exchanging benefits."

Jason snorted coldly:

"Exchanging benefits? Richard gave Maya ten percent of the group's shares as a wedding gift. His father was so angry he ended up in the hospital."

I froze.

Ten percent of the shares?

That was no small amount.

This was like splitting half of the Allen family's interests to Maya.

"Richard is serious?"

I was surprised.

"Richard is crazy."

Jason squeezed the back of my neck:

"Whatever he sets his eyes on, he'll get it by any means necessary. Maya thinks she can control everything, but she's already fallen into Richard's trap."

I thought of Maya's clear and rational appearance just now, and then Richard's possessive gesture at the bridal shop.

This elite marriage alliance seemed much more interesting than I'd imagined.

"Next Wednesday, let's go watch the show."

I picked up the invitation.

Jason frowned:

"Too many people, too noisy. You can't go to that kind of event right now."

"Marc said he's going to Europe on business next week. There are several documents at the company that need my personal review. Lily also said the script for the second season of the web series is stuck."

I reported methodically.

Jason's face darkened, and he said through gritted teeth:

"Go! I'll go with you!"

I smiled with satisfaction.

Next Wednesday.

The top Bulgari Hotel in the city center.

The entire hotel was booked by the Allen family.

All kinds of luxury cars were parked at the entrance. Security was extremely tight - no one could enter without an invitation.

Jason escorted me into the banquet hall.

The hall was decorated extremely lavishly, with thousands of white roses flown in covering the entire venue.

We had just sat down at the main table when Lily and Ryan came over with wine glasses.

"Sue!"

Lily was wearing a red dress today, radiant and beautiful:

"You came too! I thought Mr. Cooper was going to keep you locked up at home."

Jason gave her a cold look.

Ryan pulled Lily to sit down and lowered his voice:

"Have you guys heard? Today's wedding might not be peaceful."

I raised an eyebrow: "What do you mean?"

Ryan pointed to a table not far away:

"See that man in the black suit? Richard's half-brother, Luca Allen. I heard the Allen family patriarch originally planned to give him the overseas business, but Richard directly gave it to Maya as a wedding gift. Luca brought quite a few people with him today."

I followed Ryan's gaze and saw the man called Luca holding a wine glass, staring at the main stage with sinister eyes.

As we were talking, the lights in the hall suddenly dimmed.

A spotlight hit the entrance of the banquet hall.

The doors slowly opened.

Maya, wearing that high-necked lace wedding dress, walked in slowly on Mr. Wang's arm.

Richard stood in the center of the stage in a white haute couture suit, his eyes locked on Maya.

Music started playing. Maya walked toward the stage step by step.

Just as Kinsley was about to hand Maya over to Richard.

The side door of the hall was pushed open.

A woman in maternity clothes with a big belly rushed in, pointing at Richard on stage and screaming.

"Richard! You can't marry her! I'm carrying your child!"

The whole room erupted in chaos.
