Chapter 246
I sat on the sofa, my expression calm.
"I didn't do any of this. Someone brought it on themselves."
Flora's body jerked violently.
She clenched her teeth and looked up at me unwillingly, "What exactly do you want?"
Lila brought over coffee at just the right moment, "Mrs. Cooper, your coffee."
I smiled and nodded at her, taking a sip of coffee, "I don't want anything. You brought this on yourself. I already warned you before. Jason is my legal husband, but I never expected you to be so shameless as to seduce a married man."
Under Flora's increasingly resentful gaze, I continued, "As for the current situation, there's nothing I can do to change it."
Ember's smile looked somewhat stiff.
"Sue, look, Flora has already learned her lesson. Just have Jason take down the trending topic."
I looked up at her, "Mrs. Miller, you're making too much of this. People find this interesting and want to watch it, which is why it keeps trending. What does that have to do with my husband?"
"Well..."
Ember opened her mouth.
Before she could continue, I slowly added, "Besides, an apology requires the right attitude. You two came empty-handed. Those who know understand you're here to apologize, but those who don't..."
I looked up and down at the two obviously very dissatisfied people and smiled slightly, "Those who don't might think you're here to collect a debt."
Ember seemed to understand something. She rushed to Flora's side, pressed down on her head, and forcefully pushed it toward the ground!
"Apologize to Sue properly right now!"
Flora screamed in panic, "Mom, what are you doing? Why are you pushing my head down?"
"Apologize! Don't you know what you did? Apologize sincerely right now!"
Ember's voice was cold, with a tone of gritted teeth.
Flora's face was full of humiliation as tears streamed down.
Her hands clenched tightly into fists, her fingers turning white from the pressure.
"I'm sorry! It's all my fault! I shouldn't have had designs on Jason. I really know I was wrong. I won't do it again. Please ask Jason to take down the trending topic online!"
Watching her kneel before me in such a humble manner, I felt nothing.
I didn't think Flora was pitiful at all.
I'm not that kind-hearted.
I remember very clearly how she showed off in front of me back then.
"I understand. You can leave now."
I put down my cup and spoke calmly.
Ember asked cautiously, "What about the trending topic?"
I nodded, "I'll tell Jason about it."
As for whether to suppress it or not, that wasn't up to me.
Ember wanted to say more, but Lila spoke up at the right time, "Please leave, you two. Mrs. Cooper is tired and needs to rest."
Only then did Ember forcibly swallow the words on the tip of her tongue, pulling Flora along as they left with forced smiles.
It wasn't until the two left the villa and the door closed that I finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Finally gone!
Having them here the whole time was so unlucky.
"Mrs. Cooper, are you really going to have Mr. Cooper..."
Imogen came downstairs at this moment and asked me in surprise.
I shook my head, "Flora brought this on herself. I'm not kind enough to help her."
Only then did Imogen breathe a sigh of relief.
"You scared me, Mrs. Cooper. I thought you really forgave them."
I smiled with pursed lips, looked up toward the stairs, and then asked, "How was Jessica's class today?"
This was also why I wanted them to leave quickly.
Jessica's class was about to end, and I didn't want Jessica exposed to these upsetting matters.
"Jessica is very smart. The teacher said that after two more lessons, she can move to the next stage, which is middle school level material."
Imogen answered with pride in her voice.
I was stunned for a moment, then broke into a smile.
Jessica is such a smart child, and she's so easy to take care of.
That evening, Jason came home.
I told him about Flora and Ember coming here today.
Jason's brows furrowed slightly, his voice deepening, "They dared to come here? Looks like the online storm isn't enough yet."
I blinked, "Did you really buy the trending topic?"
Jason smiled, his tone casual, "Just a little push."
"If they keep making trouble like this, won't it affect Glacier Corp?"
I was a bit worried.
The Miller family right now is like a pile of crap—forget getting close, even passing by makes you smell disgusting.
Jason smiled and pinched my cheek, "It will, but people will only feel sorry for us for being so unlucky as to be pestered by people like that. As for negative effects, there won't be any. Don't worry."
Only then did I breathe a sigh of relief and smile again.
"That's good!"
"Honey, let's travel abroad, and bring Jessica with us."
Jason suddenly spoke up.
He put his arm around my waist and added, "Although the Miller family isn't a threat, their constant harassment is annoying."
Go abroad?
I didn't agree right away, "Would we have to be gone for a long time?"
"Pretty much. We'll come back after this whole thing completely blows over."
Jason nodded.
"If we don't go, will we be in danger?"
I asked.
Jason's eyes flickered, understanding what I meant, "If you don't want to go, then we won't. I'll arrange bodyguards to protect you."
"Okay!"
I nodded vigorously, stood on my tiptoes and kissed Jason on the cheek, "Thank you, honey!"
On a workday, I arrived at Polaris Company on time for work.
Although Tyler had caused a scene here before, making my colleagues look at me with somewhat strange expressions, it didn't affect my work.
I simply ignored their occasional curious glances and focused on my work.
"Ms. Wilson."
Ophelia came out of her office and placed a contract in front of me, "This is for the project with Glacier Corp. Please make a trip to verify some details in the document with Mr. Cooper."
She paused, then added, "If it's going to Glacier Corp, then I won't go."
I nodded lightly, "Okay, Ms. Blake."
With that, I took my bag and the documents and left Polaris Company.
I drove to Glacier Corp's underground parking garage.
After parking, I took the CEO's private elevator upstairs.
Jason had given me the elevator card a long time ago.
I had thought he was being too fussy at the time.
After all, I don't work at Glacier Corp, so I wouldn't come here often.
But now it's quite convenient for me.
Before the elevator doors closed, I seemed to catch a glimpse of a somewhat familiar figure out of the corner of my eye.
By the time I looked more carefully, the person was gone.
I rubbed my eyes, "I must have seen wrong."
The elevator went straight up to the executive floor.
Samuel looked a bit surprised to see me, "Mrs. Cooper? What brings you here?"
I waved the documents in my hand, "My boss asked me to come verify some contract details with Jason."
The corner of Samuel's mouth twitched imperceptibly.
Having Jason personally verify a contract for a small company like Polaris Company?
Wasn't that overkill?
But since Glacier Corp was already working with Polaris Company, everything seemed reasonable.
"Alright, Mrs. Cooper. Mr. Cooper is still in a meeting. Please wait in his office."
