Chapter 238
A flicker of guilt flashed through Bruce's eyes. He curled his lip, still being stubborn, "Ms. Blake told you to teach me, but what did you do? You just gave me a pile of documents to handle on my own, taught me nothing, and now I can't even say anything about it?"
I let out a scornful laugh, "When asking for help, you need to have the right attitude. I haven't seen an ounce of humility from you. Since you think you're so capable, then solve it yourself."
With that, I threw the documents right at him.
No wonder Brian used to like throwing documents at people when he was upset.
It felt so satisfying!
Bruce picked up the documents and left angrily. I shook my head and ignored him.
None of the documents I gave him were urgent, and I had backups anyway.
From start to finish, I never expected him to finish on time.
Right before closing time, I finished all my work. I packed up my things and prepared to leave.
Bruce's workstation had a clear view of the company entrance. Seeing me about to leave, he immediately got up and quickly walked over to block my way.
"Ms. Wilson, you're leaving already?"
"It's closing time. If I don't leave, what am I supposed to do here?"
I asked.
Bruce suddenly got anxious.
"No, you can't! If you leave, who am I supposed to ask questions?"
"I believe flexible use of the internet is also a reflection of one's work capability."
I replied.
After all, when I first became Brian's assistant, I didn't know anything either.
I either asked other company employees, humbly seeking advice, or looked up information online myself.
As long as you're willing to learn, there's always a way.
Not like Bruce, who just blamed others at every turn.
If blaming others worked, wouldn't the best thing be to become a leader who could pass the buck?
Bruce's face turned red with anger.
"Ms. Blake told you to teach me, and you're just leaving like this?"
"Didn't I teach you?"
I didn't want to waste words with Bruce and walked past him with big strides.
After getting home, whenever I thought about Bruce, I still felt annoyed.
Having an annoying person suddenly appear at my good job.
Just thinking about it made me not want to go to work tomorrow.
"Honey."
Jason came out of the bathroom after his shower, his hair still wet, and leaned against me. He tilted his head and kissed my face. Seeing my expression wasn't great, Jason paused and asked, "What's wrong? Are you unhappy?"
"A little."
I nodded and naturally leaned into Jason's embrace.
"Tell me about it?"
"It's not really a big deal, just an annoying person showed up at the company..."
I briefly told Jason about Bruce.
Just thinking about how ridiculous he was made me unable to hold back.
"Don't you think there's something wrong with him?"
Jason nodded in complete agreement.
"Looks like your Ms. Blake's judgment isn't that great. Being able to hire my wife was already her judgment performing at its peak."
The corner of my mouth twitched, and I looked at him, a little helpless.
"I'm telling you about Bruce, how did you turn this around to me?"
"Just stating facts. Someone like him, Glacier Corp wouldn't even consider hiring, let alone training."
Jason dropped his joking expression and said seriously.
He tightened his arm around me, "If he makes you especially unhappy, it's fine to quit and not work."
Hearing about quitting, I immediately shook my head.
"No need, I'm not so fragile that I'd quit just because I find one person unpleasant."
"But you're unhappy."
Jason frowned.
I smiled, and my voice softened.
"Come on, I'm just sharing work stuff with you. I was feeling a bit down, but after talking to you about it, I feel much better."
Jason also broke into a smile.
"Since you feel better, how about we do something else?"
His burning hot hand ambiguously caressed my waist.
I immediately understood.
My cheeks felt hot. I gave Jason a coquettish glare and slapped his hand away.
"I'm going to take a shower first."
Although I said it was nothing, when I saw Bruce at the company the next day, I still felt annoyed.
Especially with that smug look on his face as he looked at me.
"Ms. Wilson, although our company has great benefits and never requires employees to work overtime, you should at least finish your work before leaving, right?"
As soon as Bruce saw me, he immediately attacked, "Now look what happened. The client needs that contract today, and you haven't finished it. What are we going to do?"
I didn't immediately respond to him, but looked at the others instead.
The company was small, so whenever something happened, everyone was there.
People looked at each other.
Marcella hesitated, "Could this be some kind of misunderstanding? We know Sue well. She's very serious about her work. Many times we've all left and she's still working."
Jade also nodded, "I think Marcella's right."
Seraphine looked around and laughed, trying to smooth things over, "Right, right, there must be a misunderstanding here. Bruce, talk it out properly with Ms. Wilson. We're all colleagues, no need to make things so awkward."
"Since I'm bringing this up in front of everyone today, that means I definitely have evidence."
Bruce took out his phone and showed everyone the chat records on it.
"The client needs this contract today. This should have been ready yesterday, but Ms. Wilson gave it to me, making a newbie who knows nothing complete it. When I asked her for guidance, not only did she not teach me, she even mocked me."
"Right up until closing time, when Ms. Wilson was leaving, I stopped her because of the contract. She told me to solve it myself and just walked away."
The more Bruce talked, the more he felt he was in the right.
He raised his voice, "Since everyone's here now, I really want to ask Ms. Wilson, is this how you promised Ms. Blake you'd look after the new employee?"
This Bruce might not be good at work, but he was quite skilled at stirring up trouble.
I pulled at the corner of my mouth, my tone flat, "I sent the contract to the client yesterday and finalized all the details. I don't know which client you're talking about?"
Panic flashed in Bruce's eyes, "I..."
I continued, "Furthermore, I recall that with your position, you haven't reached the level where you can represent the company in negotiations with other companies. What is this? Making things up, slandering your superior? Or privately contacting partners?"
Fine beads of cold sweat appeared on Bruce's forehead.
He opened his mouth, "I... I..."
I looked at his panic‑stricken face with sarcasm.
"Finally, the company has surveillance cameras. Everything you said and did yesterday is clearly recorded. This isn't something you can slander me with just by moving your mouth."
After I finished that last sentence, the whole place fell dead silent.
Just then, applause rang out.
Ophelia walked in from outside the company.
Her sharp gaze swept over Bruce, "I heard everything that just happened. I will handle this matter appropriately."
Ophelia stared at Bruce and dropped a line, “Come with me to my office!”
Bruce dragged his feet as he followed Ophelia into the office.
Marcella and the other three looked at me questioningly.
I waved my hand and spoke calmly, "Everyone disperse. It's work time now, go do your work."
At first, I thought Bruce would be fired. After all, Ophelia had always been decisive, unable to tolerate people who made things up.
But Bruce actually stayed.
