Chapter 202
I frowned and hung up directly.
Unexpectedly, two seconds later, the phone rang again.
My first thought was that it was Tyler, since Tyler had always been counting on me to marry Jason so he could get benefits for the Miller family.
Being disturbed on my wedding night, anger rose in my chest. I answered the phone, and before the other person could speak, I said coldly, "Are you sick or something? Do you have to call at this exact moment?"
The person on the other end was clearly stunned. After a long while, they finally said, "Sue, it's me, Elizabeth."
Now it was my turn to be stunned.
This was awkward. I'd blamed the wrong person.
I coughed, "Sorry, I thought it was a spam call."
I wanted to exchange a few quick pleasantries and hang up.
But Elizabeth seemed to really have no one else to talk to. She immediately started telling me about her and Brian.
"I tried the advice you gave me. I specifically found a friend to act with me, pretending we were very close in front of Brian to make him jealous."
"But Brian didn't get jealous at all. He didn't even look at me! Let alone beat up my friend. And he hasn't talked to me for several days now."
I raised my eyebrows, "He hasn't talked to you for several days?"
"Yes! He won't answer when I call him, and when I go to his company, his secretary blocks me and won't let me in."
Elizabeth's voice was so anxious she was almost crying.
"What should I do? Sue, do you think I overdid it? Is Brian completely angry and doesn't want me anymore? This is terrible! I don't want that!"
I said, "Don't lose heart, just keep it up. Brian not talking to you probably means he's jealous."
Elizabeth gasped, "Jealous? Because of me? How is that possible?"
"If you trust me, just continue."
Elizabeth said, "But I can't even see Brian now. How can I put on an act?"
I felt this silly girl was really a bit dumb.
"Post on Facebook. You're Facebook friends, right? Post messages that only he can see, being flirty with your childhood friend. He'll see them."
Elizabeth exclaimed, "Oh my god, Sue, you're so amazing! I'm starting to worship you!"
I had no interest in her worship and just wanted to hang up quickly.
"Well, go think about what to post on Facebook. I'm hanging up."
"Wait!"
Elizabeth suddenly stopped me and asked in surprise, "Were you doing something really important just now? You sounded really annoyed, and you said why did I have to call at this exact moment?"
I was speechless, "I got married today."
Elizabeth said, "I'm sorry!"
She quickly hung up.
To avoid being disturbed by other irrelevant people, I turned off my phone directly and tossed it aside.
"Honey, let's continue."
I looked up and unexpectedly met Jason's dangerous gaze.
I instinctively shrank my neck, my tone weakening, "What?"
Jason's eyes were dark as he approached me step by step.
"Wife, I didn't expect you to be so capable now, even working as a love consultant for others?"
"You're so experienced?"
"Or are you saying you understand Brian very well and know how to pursue him?"
With each sentence Jason spoke, he took a step forward, his tone becoming more dangerous.
Alarm bells rang in my head. I laughed awkwardly and waved my hands.
"No, no, you've been my only man from start to finish. I only gave Elizabeth advice because she kept pestering me and I couldn't take it anymore, so I helped."
I actively moved into Jason's arms, reached up to circle his neck, and acted cute, "As for those methods, I saw them in novels and just said them randomly. How could I possibly understand Brian? Of course I only understand my dearest husband. After all, you're the only man in my eyes!"
Jason was immediately appeased.
He lowered his head to kiss me, held my waist with one hand, and brought me to the bed.
His kisses fell densely by my ear, his voice sticky and low, "Wife, don't just talk, show me something real."
The result of being too good with words was that when I woke up the next day, I felt like my waist was about to break.
When I opened my eyes at noon, I found Jason still lying beside me.
I reached out and poked his waist, "Isn't today a workday? Why are you still here?"
Jason grabbed my hand and pulled me closer.
He said matter-of-factly, "Employees get marriage leave, so as the boss, I should too."
That actually made sense.
We both slept until the afternoon before getting up.
Jason ordered room service, and after eating, I went upstairs to change clothes, preparing to go out and check on Lily.
I wondered how she was doing now, if she was feeling any better.
Jason was originally sitting on the sofa. Seeing me about to leave, he reached out and grabbed me.
"Where are you going?"
"To check on Lily."
Jason held my hand unhappily and said pitifully, "We just got married and you're already going out?"
His pitiful look was like a big dog with drooping ears.
My heart immediately softened.
"Okay, I'm just going to take a quick look. I'll be back very soon, okay?"
I actively hugged Jason's waist and affectionately nuzzled his chest.
Jason pinched my face and immediately gave in.
"Then I'll drive you there."
My gaze swept over the laptop on the sofa.
He had been working here.
"No need, you just stay home and work. I'll go by myself and be back soon."
Without giving Jason another chance to speak, I grabbed the car keys and went straight out.
Before going to Lily's house, I first went to a restaurant to pack two dishes.
Lily couldn't cook, and with her bad mood now, she was probably just eating instant noodles at home.
I had just parked in the neighborhood.
As soon as I looked up, I saw Ryan leaning against his car, a cigarette between his fingers, looking up at somewhere upstairs with a complicated expression.
Although I wasn't very familiar with Ryan, my impression was that he was someone who cared a lot about appearances. But his current appearance looked as if he'd aged several years. His beard hadn't been shaved in a long time, and he looked terribly haggard.
I was about to get out of the car to greet him, but Ryan had already gotten in his car and driven away.
Watching his car grow smaller in the distance, I sighed helplessly.
I didn't know when these two would have a resolution.
Upstairs, I rang the doorbell for a while before Lily came to open the door.
She also looked haggard, as if she'd aged several years.
But I silently swallowed those words and didn't say them out loud.
Inside, I closed the door.
I looked Lily up and down.
She was wrapped in pajamas, her hair messy, looking exhausted.
"Lily, were you sleeping just now?"
Lily collapsed messily on the sofa and made a sound of agreement, her gaze falling on the food container in my hand, "For me?"
"Yes, come eat first."
I nodded and carried the food container to the dining room.
Lily slowly shuffled to the dining table and ate listlessly.
I didn't say anything the whole time. Only after she'd eaten most of it did I say softly, "Just now, I saw Ryan downstairs."
Lily's hand paused imperceptibly, then she continued eating as if nothing had happened.
She asked, "Where did you buy this food? It's pretty good."
