Chapter 192

Chapter 192

Jason hung up directly.

Before he could say anything, the phone rang again. It was still Helen calling.

Jason frowned and hung up again.

Soon after, Thomas's phone rang too.

He glanced at Jason's expressionless face and felt it was necessary to make things clear with Helen. Otherwise, if she kept bothering them like this, they wouldn't be able to enjoy their New Year's Eve in peace.

So Thomas answered the call.

"Thomas, I..."

As soon as the call connected, Helen's aggrieved voice came through.

Thomas cut her off directly, "Helen, you don't need to say anything. We haven't had any relationship for a long time. I don't care about your situation. Even if you're too sick to get out of bed right now, I'm not coming over."

"Thomas, how can you be like this? We were husband and wife after all. Treating me this way really breaks my heart."

Helen choked up and couldn't help crying.

Thomas just felt annoyed listening to her crying.

His voice grew heavy, "Stop saying this nonsense to me, and don't cry and whine at me. It's annoying."

Helen's voice trembled, "Thomas, today is New Year's Day. I'm all alone at home, with no one to talk to. Jason won't answer my calls or come see me. I'm already so pitiful. Can't you be a little gentler with me and comfort me?"

Thomas rubbed his temples irritably, "Why should I comfort you? What's our relationship? Don't call me anymore. I don't want bad luck on New Year's. I'm going to block you in a bit."

With that, Thomas hung up directly.

I had no idea there was such a scene playing out in the study.

At that moment, I was putting the lobster in the oven when my phone suddenly rang.

I saw it was an unknown number and didn't think much of it, casually answering, "Hello?"

"Sue, it's me."

The moment I heard Tyler's voice, I immediately moved to hang up.

This guy just won't leave me alone.

I'd already blocked him, and he was still calling me from different numbers.

So shameless!

"Don't hang up! Just let me say two things!"

Tyler seemed to guess what I was about to do and quickly stopped me.

I frowned. Thinking it was New Year's Day and not wanting to lose my temper, I said patiently, "Go ahead."

Tyler's voice softened, "Happy New Year."

"Done?"

"Yes."

I pulled at the corner of my mouth, too lazy to say another word, and hung up directly.

After I hung up, Ember walked up to Tyler and stared at him suspiciously, "Who were you calling?"

Tyler's expression remained calm, "Just a business partner."

Ember looked at him and didn't ask further.

Old Cooper Mansion.

Tamsin walked over with a smile, "Sue, stop what you're doing for now and come with Grandma."

"Grandma, what's wrong? Is something the matter?"

Tamsin pulled me out of the kitchen, "I have something to give you."

As she spoke, she handed me two boxes.

"Go try them on and see if they fit."

I opened them confused. Inside was a dark green dress with hand embroidery on it.

Even though I didn't know much about these things, I could tell this dress was very expensive.

The other box contained a knitted shawl.

Tamsin looked at me lovingly, "Go change into them. I specially called a photographer over. We're going to take a family portrait in a bit."

She sighed, "Our family hasn't been this lively in a long time."

Jason happened to come down from the second floor. He naturally took the boxes from my hands and held my hand, "I'll take you to change."

Following Jason, after turning several corners in the Old Mansion, he finally pushed open a door.

He stood at the doorway and waved at me, "Come in."

I walked in, a bit curious, "Is this your room?"

Jason nodded.

Hearing it was Jason's room, I couldn't help but be curious.

Although I'd been to the Old Mansion many times, this was my first time in Jason's room.

The room was clean and tidy, the bed was made, but...

I stared at the rose petals on the bed for a while.

Grandma must have prepared this.

But isn't this only for newlyweds?

Grandma is...

We're not even married yet!

Jason gently hugged me from behind, nuzzling affectionately at my neck, "Grandma wants us to stay at the Old Mansion tonight, so she had someone make the bed and prepare the flowers in advance."

His tone was serious, "Sue, if you're not comfortable with it, we can go home."

Hearing his words full of consideration for me, my heart filled with warmth.

I said softly, "Let's stay here."

Jason seemed a bit surprised.

I explained, "Your family is very lively, very festive. I really like it."

Jason tilted his head and bit my ear, "Silly, you should say our family. You're part of our family too."

I laughed and dodged to the side, "That tickles, stop teasing me."

My waist suddenly tightened.

Jason carried me to the bed, his eyes burning, "Sue, I've slept in this bed for over ten years."

The Jason of the past slept in this bed.

And now I was here too.

A very subtle feeling spread through my heart.

I pressed my lips together, trying to stay calm, "Then this bed is pretty sturdy."

Jason chuckled, his meaning clear, "It is pretty sturdy. Should be fine for some vigorous activity on it."

I shouldn't have said that!

Seeing Jason's suggestive smile, I immediately became alert, "Jason, don't you dare! There are people outside!"

"Don't worry, this is far from the front hall. They can't hear us."

Even if they can't hear, it's still not okay!

I'm not ready to... here...

I struggled to get up, "Jason, you pervert, I shouldn't have come back to the room with you..."

Before I could finish, Jason lowered his head and kissed my lips.

He held my hands, intertwining our fingers.

As our lips and tongues tangled, our breathing grew hotter, and even my body began to lose strength.

My eyes misted over as I slowly closed them.

I don't know how long passed before Jason finally let me go.

His fingertip suggestively caressed my swollen lips, his eyes unfathomably deep.

I instinctively swallowed and barely regained my senses, "You need to go out. I have to change."

Tamsin and the others were probably already waiting.

Jason's hot, burning hands suggestively caressed my waist, his voice low and husky, "I'll help you."

"No way! If you help me, it won't be changing clothes, it'll be taking them off!"

I pressed both hands firmly against Jason's chest, shaking my head desperately, not allowing him to come closer.

I had no intention of making love with Jason here right now!

Seeing my nervous face, Jason couldn't help but chuckle and let me go.

He got up and walked to the door, "Then I'll wait for you outside."

The door closed, and I finally breathed a sigh of relief.

After changing clothes, I opened the door.

Jason turned at the sound, his breath catching.

Seeing no reaction from him, I looked down and smoothed my dress, asking somewhat unnaturally, "What's wrong? Does it not look good?"

Jason's throat bobbed as he stared at me with burning eyes.

He answered seriously, "It looks good. You look absolutely stunning."

Looking at the heat in his eyes, I smiled.
