Chapter 191
"Okay."
I agreed.
Last time when Jason brought up marriage, I was still hesitating.
But after what happened with Cade and Kaida, I clearly realized that I had long considered the man in front of me as part of my family.
He's my child's father, he's my family, he's the love of my life.
When he was being attacked by gossip and rumors, all I felt was worry and heartache. I never once thought about leaving him.
He feels the same way about me.
So our marriage is meant to be.
Jason froze.
He stared at me in a daze, and after a moment, asked uncertainly, "Did you just say something?"
I blinked and pinched his waist lightly, "Does it hurt?"
Jason shook his head, "No."
I pinched harder, "How about now?"
Jason nodded, "A little."
I smiled, cupped his face, and gave him a big kiss.
"Then that means you're not dreaming. Everything you just heard is real."
Jason suddenly seemed frozen in place.
I waved my hand in front of his eyes, "What's wrong? Having second thoughts?"
"No way!"
Jason suddenly snapped out of it.
The corners of his mouth lifted, curving higher and higher!
He suddenly lifted me up high.
I cried out and instinctively grabbed his clothes, "Put me down!"
Jason was so excited he spun me around several times.
He made me dizzy. I said helplessly, "Jason, I'm getting dizzy. Put me down."
Jason finally set me down.
His eyes were shining as he looked at me, gripping my hands tightly.
"Sue, since you've agreed, you can't back out! I recorded everything just now!"
I didn't answer. Jason continued on his own.
"No, we're going to get our marriage license today, and we'll have the wedding right after New Year's!"
He was getting a bit too excited.
I kept a straight face, pushed Jason away, and turned to leave.
Jason quickly grabbed me, his voice anxious, "Sue, why aren't you saying anything? Don't want to marry me? That won't work! You just agreed, you can't back out."
Right now he didn't look like the all-powerful CEO of Glacier Corp.
He looked more like a childish kid.
I looked at him like he was an idiot and said flatly, "The marriage registration office isn't open today."
Jason was clearly confused for a moment.
He slapped his forehead, "I forgot today is New Year's Day."
Then he continued staring at me intently.
His stare made me nervous, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"What if you change your mind after New Year's?"
Jason muttered.
I ignored him and went downstairs to make breakfast.
What I didn't know was that Jason actually picked up his phone and called Richard.
"Can you find someone? I want to take Sue to get our marriage license today."
Richard on the other end was silent for a long time, "Are you okay? It's New Year's Day—where am I supposed to find someone for you?"
Jason said, "I'm in a hurry."
Richard replied, "What's the rush? Sue already had your daughter—where's she going to run to?"
Jason said matter-of-factly, "Why couldn't she run? She could take our daughter and run together!"
Richard couldn't help but laugh unkindly, "Jason! Never thought I'd see the day! But I really can't help you..."
Before Richard could finish, Jason hung up without hesitation.
He then called Ryan.
After hearing him out, Ryan was both helpless and amused.
"Jason, just be patient and wait until after New Year's. Today there's no..."
Hearing he couldn't help, Jason hung up directly.
He not only called Thomas and George, but later even Zach got a call from him.
Soon everyone knew that Jason and I were getting our marriage license, that Jason was desperate to get it done on New Year's Day, and was calling everyone trying to find help.
When Tamsin heard the news, she jumped up excitedly, "Find a way! You all need to find a way quickly! Sue finally agreed—we can't miss this opportunity!"
Thomas said helplessly, "Mom, calm down. I really want Sue to join the family soon too, but we can't get it done right now."
Tamsin was unwilling to give up, "There's really no way at all?"
"No."
I still had no idea Jason was calling everyone in the world trying to find a way to get our marriage license.
The two of us had just arrived at Old Cooper Mansion with Jessica.
Kelly immediately ran over, affectionately linking her arm with mine, saying with a grin, "Sue, I heard you and Jason are getting your marriage license—congratulations!"
Charles also came over, "Congratulations!"
I turned to look at Jason in confusion.
How does everyone know already?
Jason touched his nose, "It's happy news, of course I had to share it with everyone."
I gave him a playful glare and couldn't help complaining, "Should I get you a megaphone so you can announce it to the whole world?"
Jason's eyes lit up, "That's not a bad idea!"
I swatted his arm, "What do you mean 'not bad'!"
Couldn't he have waited until after we got the license to tell everyone?
Jason was in a great mood, the smile never leaving his face.
Jessica pulled on my hand in confusion, "Mommy, what does getting a license mean? What kind of license are you and Daddy getting? Can I come too?"
Kelly answered first, "Jessica can't go. Mommy and Daddy are getting a marriage license. Once they get it, they'll be legally married and can live together forever."
Hearing that last sentence, Jessica's eyes widened, looking at me full of anticipation, "Mommy, is that true?"
I nodded gently.
The smile on Jessica's little face grew brighter and brighter, her eyes sparkling.
My heart melted watching her.
Although Jessica never said it out loud, she had always longed for a complete family.
She looked up at me and asked curiously, "Mommy, after you get married, are you going to give me a little brother or sister?"
Who taught her that?
Jason smiled and ruffled Jessica's hair, "That's right, we'll give you a cute, soft little sister like cotton candy."
I glanced at him, my face heating up, "I'm going to help in the kitchen!"
On my way to the kitchen, I greeted each member of the Cooper family.
When Linda saw me come into the kitchen, she smiled, "Ms. Wilson, you should rest. We'll handle this."
I rolled up my sleeves and joined the kitchen work.
"I'd just be sitting around anyway. Let's do it together."
Linda looked at me with a smile, "Ms. Wilson, you have such a good personality and you're so pretty. Mr. Cooper is lucky to marry you."
I nodded in complete agreement, "That's right, he found a treasure."
Jason was called to the study by Thomas.
"Your mom called me early this morning saying she wasn't feeling well and wanted me to come over. I didn't go."
Jason's face was expressionless, "She called me too."
He paused, then added, "Many times."
Thomas looked displeased, "She's definitely doing it on purpose."
Jason said, "I sent someone to check on her. She's fine."
Thomas snorted coldly, "Even if something was wrong, she shouldn't be calling us!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Jason's phone rang again.
It was Helen calling.
