Chapter 186
Jason frowned and looked in the direction I was staring.
Outside, Ryan had Chris pinned to the ground, beating him up.
My eyes lit up, and I felt great, "Good job! That jerk deserves a good beating!"
"No way, I can't keep this show to myself. I've got to go tell Lily!"
With that, I ran off, leaving Jason sitting there alone.
When I found Lily, she was sitting by the bar looking miserable.
I grabbed her arm and pulled her outside, "Come on, come on! Let's go watch the action!"
Lily said listlessly, "What action? I'm not in the mood."
"You'll be in the mood once you see it!"
I said excitedly, "Your ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend!"
Lily gave me a look, but still followed me over.
We both stood by the window, watching Ryan beat the crap out of Chris.
Lily looked a bit surprised at first, then calmed down.
Ryan's moves were fast, precise, and brutal. Chris was no match at all, just cowering with his head in his hands.
I couldn't help but nod, "I've got to say, Ryan's really good at this. He's beating Chris like a dog."
Lily nodded slightly without saying anything.
I glanced at her sideways.
Had these two had another fight?
She didn't want to talk about it, so I didn't ask.
Downstairs, the fight had reached its peak when security showed up.
Two security guards pulled Ryan away, one on each side.
Chris could barely stand, his face bruised and swollen as he swayed.
The guards brought him a chair to sit on.
"Let's go, let's go check it out."
I said.
Lily nodded without refusing.
After going downstairs, the guards said they'd already called an ambulance.
Ryan said nothing, his gaze heavy as he looked at Lily coming down the stairs.
Lily was also silent, meeting his eyes.
The two just looked at each other wordlessly for a moment, then Lily took the initiative to walk forward and grab his hand.
"Your skin's broken. Let's go to the hospital to get it treated."
Ryan pulled his hand back expressionlessly and turned to leave without a word.
As if he wasn't the one who'd just beaten someone up in a rage.
Lily's hand was left hanging in mid-air.
Dissatisfaction rose in my heart. I was about to call out to Ryan when someone suddenly grabbed my wrist.
I froze, looking back in surprise, "Lily?"
Lily shook her head, her voice very soft, "Forget it, he probably needs to cool down."
I immediately understood.
So my feeling earlier wasn't wrong.
I looked at Lily with concern, "What happened between you two? Everything seemed fine just now?"
They were the ones who invited us rock climbing today.
Lily's lips curved into a smile that looked worse than crying.
She shook her head, her voice so faint it could be blown away by a breeze.
"The problems between us have never been resolved."
She was afraid Ryan would mind her past with Chris, and Ryan was trapped by her hot-and-cold feelings.
I knew in my heart that this was something only they could work out.
When it comes to relationships, only the people involved can sort things out.
I felt bad for Lily, but could only sigh, "Let's go inside first."
I wanted to take Lily home.
But Lily jingled her car keys, "I'll drive myself home."
The next day.
Jason had barely stepped into his office when Samuel came in to report, "Mr. Cooper, there's a couple downstairs who want to see you. They say they're Victoria's parents."
Jason frowned, "I'm not seeing them."
Samuel nodded, "Understood, I'll send them away."
Downstairs, Cade Brown and Kaida Brown were kicked out of Glacier Corp.
The two sat awkwardly on the lawn, looking up at the luxurious office building in front of them, their faces full of resentment.
Kaida looked worried, "What do we do? Jason won't see us. How are we going to get money from him?"
Cade ground his teeth angrily, "He's so rich, what's wrong with spending a little on us? Rich people really are the stingiest!"
Kaida glanced at him, "Victoria's still locked up in that mental hospital. Let's go see her first. She's always been clever since she was little, maybe she'll have an idea. Plus we need to get Jason to let Victoria out and give us a big compensation."
Cade nodded, "Alright."
The two headed straight for the mental hospital.
After Samuel watched them leave, he went into the office to report, "Mr. Cooper, they're gone."
Jason nodded, "Got it. Prepare for the meeting."
I was in the sunroom trimming flowers at that moment.
Suddenly I got a call from Lily.
Lily's shoot was almost finished, and she'd been resting at home lately.
I asked with a smile, "Lily, having fun at home lately?"
But Lily's tone was unusually serious, "Sue, never mind that. I'm sending you a video, watch it right away."
With that, without waiting for me to respond, Lily hung up.
What video?
That made Lily so serious.
A hint of confusion crossed my mind.
The video arrived.
I clicked on it curiously.
In the video, an old man and woman were holding a banner outside Glacier Corp.
Despite security trying to remove them, they were angrily making accusations.
"Dear netizens, we are Victoria's parents. Three years ago, our daughter saved the life of Glacier Corp's boss Jason, but he's an ungrateful bastard. Not only does he not repay the favor, he's now sent our daughter to a mental hospital to torture her!"
"We wanted to talk to Jason about this, but they won't let us see him. Our poor daughter! She did a good deed out of kindness, and now she's been sent to a mental hospital. Is that a place for people? We worked so hard to raise her, and before we could enjoy any good days, our daughter got locked up!"
"We're really at our wit's end. We heard that netizens are kind and helpful. Please, help us!"
"Yes, please everyone!"
The couple played off each other perfectly.
They painted Jason as a complete bastard.
I scrolled through the comments, my brow furrowing immediately.
There were already over ten thousand comments under this video, basically all cursing Jason.
[Has Jason's conscience been eaten by dogs? That's his lifesaver! How could he treat his lifesaver like this?]
[Business people are really cunning. He sent her straight to a mental hospital, which is worse than jail. I heard they give you injections, electric shocks, and medication in there. Once you go in, you basically stop being human.]
[Ungrateful and bullying people with power. Does someone like this deserve to be a boss? Are there any Glacier Corp employees who can tell us if your company's boss is really like this?]
As soon as this comment appeared, someone immediately responded.
[I'll speak up. I worked at Glacier Corp before. It's a heartless company! Not only do they deduct wages with all kinds of picky excuses, the cafeteria food is worse than dog food. No overtime pay for working late, and when they fired me, there was no severance! If you're thinking of joining Glacier Corp, think twice!]
[That scary? I just sent my resume to Glacier Corp. Should I go or not?]
[Run! Don't go!]
[Sending a resume doesn't mean you're hired, understand?]
[We're getting off topic. Everyone should think of ways to help these two old people! They're so pitiful!]
[Everyone go leave comments on the official website and curse Jason out!]
