Chapter 175
Lucy waved her hand, "It's nothing, the company has plenty of these things."
I smiled with pursed lips.
The company having them and Lucy being willing to give them to me were two different things.
This showed that Lucy had finally let go of her prejudice against me and started treating me like family.
Meals at the Cooper family were always lively.
While we were eating, a servant came in, "Mr. Thomas Cooper, someone is here to see you."
Thomas asked, "Who?"
The servant glanced at Jason, quickly lowered her head, and her voice dropped, "It's Mr. Jason Cooper's mother."
Jason's face instantly darkened, and he put down his utensils heavily on the table.
Thomas looked equally displeased and waved his hand, "Don't see her, tell her to leave."
Lucy frowned, "How does Helen have the nerve to come looking for Thomas? I'm going out to give her a piece of my mind!"
Zach Carson held her back, saying quietly, "Don't make things worse."
Lucy had a hot temper, and hearing this made her explode.
"What do you mean make things worse? After all those disgusting things Helen did before, can't people talk about it? She hurt my brother for so long, and now she has the nerve to come here. I have to go out and teach her a lesson!"
With that, she pushed Zach away and stormed out angrily.
Kelly immediately followed, "Mom, I'm coming with you."
Charles went after them too.
Zach looked at everyone apologetically and followed as well.
I looked worriedly in the direction Lucy had left.
"Don't worry."
Jason held my hand and said softly, "Aunt Lucy won't lose out."
I didn't quite understand what Jason meant, but then Lucy's angry voice came faintly from outside.
"Helen, are you sick or something? You still have the nerve to come to our house! Get lost!"
"If I were you, I'd hide abroad for the rest of my life and never come back. Even if I did come back, I'd be careful, not shameless enough to show up in front of us like this!"
"You're divorced from my brother, and you still go to Thomas's company to bother him. Where do you get the confidence to think you can remarry Thomas? Just look at your face, more wrinkled than an old loofah. You think Thomas would be interested in you?"
Lucy's insults got nastier and nastier. I instantly understood what Jason meant earlier.
Her fighting power was really something!
No need to worry at all.
But wasn't Jason upset that Helen had come looking for them?
I turned to look at Jason's expression.
He didn't seem angry, eating his food calmly.
Even though we could hear the argument outside clearly.
But Jason showed no intention of going out.
Still, considering how harshly Lucy was cursing, Helen probably wouldn't come back.
When Lucy came back, Tamsin said nothing, just gave Lucy a piece of meat.
Lucy looked at Tamsin in surprise and lowered her head to eat.
After dinner, Kelly and I were going to a concert.
Jason was worried, "I'll drive you there."
I nodded without refusing.
Kelly was especially excited.
She sat in the back seat, chattering non-stop, "Oh my god, Jason, I never thought I'd live to see the day when you'd be my driver. I can die happy now!"
Jason glanced at the rearview mirror and said coolly, "I'm not your driver, I'm my future wife's driver."
Kelly nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, yes, I'm benefiting from Sue!"
Her eyes sparkled as she looked at me, "See! Being with you has its perks. From now on, I'm sticking with Sue!"
Jason said coolly, "Stop talking nonsense and take good care of Sue. If she gets hurt even a little, you can expect to be grounded for a year."
"Jason, don't worry! Sue will be totally safe with me. No matter what happens, I'll stand in front of Sue and protect her!"
Kelly promised confidently.
I couldn't help but look at her thin arms and legs and shook my head.
Who would protect whom was still up for debate.
We arrived at the concert venue.
As soon as I got out of the car, Jason pulled me back.
He lowered his head and seriously reminded me, "Be careful inside, don't lose your phone, and call me if anything happens."
I nodded and casually poked his abs.
The feel was pretty good, just not as good as when he was shirtless.
"Stop fooling around. Did you hear me?"
Jason held my hand, his brow slightly furrowed.
I smiled teasingly, "I heard you. I'm just going to a concert, you don't need to worry so much."
Kelly came over, her eyes moving suggestively between Jason and me.
"Jason, why are you only reminding Sue? Don't you care about me?"
Jason looked at her coldly.
Kelly shrank her neck and immediately stepped aside.
I found it amusing and shook my head.
Jason was already pretty unhappy about me going to the concert with Kelly.
And she still went up to him on her own—wasn't she just asking for trouble?
"Okay, we're going in now."
I waved at Jason and left with Kelly without looking back.
I turned around too quickly, naturally missing Jason's arms that were already raised for a hug.
This was my first time seeing a concert live.
Just like Kelly had told me before, it was amazing—the whole venue was on fire!
This was a singer Kelly really liked, named Jaden Collins.
Kelly screamed and cheered below the stage, constantly shouting his name.
"Jaden! Jaden, I finally get to see you!"
Jaden was a pretty popular singer in recent years.
I'd heard his songs, but I wasn't a fan. I wasn't interested in chasing celebrities.
Kelly, like the other fans, sang along, crying one moment and laughing the next.
I sat beside her, pulling out tissues to wipe her tears.
Then I opened a bottle of water for her to drink.
By the end of the concert, Kelly's voice was hoarse from shouting.
Even after the concert ended, Kelly still sat there looking dazed.
She looked at me and said in a hoarse voice, "Sue, you don't understand. I'm really so happy and joyful."
I helped her up, my voice gentle, "But I can feel your joy."
Almost supporting Kelly, who seemed to have left her soul behind, as we came out of the venue, I looked up and saw Jason waiting not far away.
Seeing us, he strode over.
His eyes swept over Kelly, his brow slightly furrowed, "What happened to her?"
I shook my head, "Too excited."
Jason scoffed, "That's all she amounts to."
He naturally put his arm around my waist, "Let's go, the car's parked over there."
I held Kelly's hand worriedly and spoke up for her, "This is normal. Jaden is her idol. It's not strange to get excited when meeting your idol."
"At Jaden's concert, she basically paid to sing herself?"
Jason teased.
"This is how young people chase celebrities. Of course you old fossil wouldn't understand."
"Old fossil?"
Jason almost squeezed out these words through his teeth, narrowing his eyes and looking at me dangerously.
I blinked, "I just love old fossils."
Jason's expression instantly improved.
He leaned down and kissed me, his tone sweet, "I know. Actually, you don't need to express your love all the time like this."
