Chapter 167
Flora felt deeply wronged, biting her lip and bowing her head to apologize, "I'm sorry Mrs. Cooper, I said the wrong thing."
Tamsin gave them a cold glance, not even willing to say a word to them.
The servant came forward with impeccable timing to see them out.
Ember swallowed all the words on the tip of her tongue and pulled the reluctant Flora away.
Back in the car, Flora complained, "Mom! What's going on? Why does Mrs. Cooper like Sue so much?"
Ember thought for a moment, "It must be because Sue gave the Cooper family a child."
Flora was even more upset, "I don't believe that child is Jason's."
Ember shot her a sidelong glance.
"Do you think the Cooper family are idiots? Raising someone else's child? I warned you before we came to watch what you say, and look, now you've offended Tamsin!"
"But I didn't say anything that bad. Who knew Mrs. Cooper would protect Sue like that?"
She looked at Ember unwillingly, "Mom, do you still have a way to get me married to Jason?"
Ember turned to look out the window without answering.
Flora sat there fuming, cursing me over and over in her heart.
That afternoon, Tyler stormed home angrily and lashed out at Ember, "Who told you to go to the Cooper family on your own? They called me! Do you know how tense things are at the company right now? If you can't help, at least don't make things worse!"
Ember was already holding in a belly full of anger, and now she exploded, "Stop taking your work frustrations out on me. If you can't handle the company, it just shows you're useless! Incompetent!"
Tyler gritted his teeth and slapped Ember hard across the face!
The crisp sound of the slap plunged the entire room into dead silence.
Ember covered her face, staring at Tyler in disbelief, "You dare hit me?"
Tyler's hand trembled, guilt flashing in his eyes, "Honey, I'm sorry, I just..."
Ember's eyes turned red as she shouted at the nearby servants, "Everyone get out!"
The servants ran off trembling. Tyler was frightened by her bloodshot eyes, "What... what are you doing?"
Ember stared hard into Tyler's eyes, and without a word, lunged at him, scratching and biting.
Almost instantly, several bloody scratches appeared on Tyler's face.
Tyler's anger surged, and the remaining guilt in his heart was replaced by rage.
He pushed Ember away forcefully.
Ember fell onto the sofa, hair disheveled, staring at Tyler with a sinister look.
Tyler felt a chill run down his spine.
Ember hadn't looked at him like this in many years.
Although they couldn't be called deeply in love over the years, they had at least treated each other with respect.
Tyler's lips moved as he lowered his head to apologize, "I'm sorry honey, it was all my fault just now, I was too impulsive."
Ember sneered, "If it was Cora standing in front of you, would you hit her?"
Tyler's expression changed, and he said unnaturally, "Why bring her up?"
"You have the nerve to do it, but I can't mention it?"
"That was so many years ago. Didn't we agree back then to let it go? Why are you bringing it up again?"
"Tyler, I hate you! I gave you a son and a daughter and you still weren't satisfied. You had to go find women outside! And of all people, you chose Cora, who already had a child! You did it on purpose to humiliate me! To make me lose face in this circle!"
Ember roared hoarsely, looking as if she wanted to tear Tyler apart.
Tyler rubbed his temples, trying to stay calm, "What happened back then already happened. What can I do about it? Besides, we've completely cut ties. What more do you want from me?"
"Cut ties? Who knows if you two are still secretly involved behind my back?"
"Of course not. What more do you want me to say?"
"Then how do you explain Cora coming to Seaside City?"
Tyler was surprised, "She came to Seaside City?"
Ember sneered, "Not only did she come, she brought that bastard child with her!"
Tyler's breathing hitched as he stood there in shock.
Since George had been home lately, Tamsin had been calling us back for dinner more frequently.
Jason brought Jessica and me back.
As soon as we entered, we saw George listlessly leaning back in his chair.
Jason laughed and teased, "Uncle George, did you just get dumped?"
George lifted his eyelids and said weakly, "Where would a single man get a relationship to be dumped from?"
The corners of Jason's lips curved into a half-smile.
Under my curious gaze, Jason leaned close to my ear and explained in a low voice, "Uncle George has been forced by Grandma to go on blind dates these past few days. Apparently he's miserable."
I looked at George with deep sympathy.
George looked at Tamsin resentfully, but still couldn't hold back, "Mom, even if you want to set me up on blind dates, at least find reliable people. Look at who you've been introducing me to! They're all weird, none of them are marriage material."
Tamsin snorted coldly, "Look at how old you are. You should be grateful to find anyone!"
George opened his mouth, his tone helpless, "Mom, can we discuss this? Can we stop with the blind dates? Marriage depends on fate. Maybe I'll meet the right person someday and just get married."
Tamsin glanced at him sideways, "By that time, I'll be dead."
"No, no, you look like you'll live to be two hundred."
"Get lost! That's what you say about old witches!"
Tamsin raised her voice and said irritably, "This time, nothing you say will work. You must go on blind dates! You'll keep going until you find someone suitable!"
"Mom, are you trying to make me run away from home?"
"You dare! If you dare run, we'll cut ties from now on!"
George obediently shut his mouth.
Clearly, he had no way to deal with Tamsin.
After dinner, I sat on the sofa with the women of the Cooper family watching TV.
Although Jason and I weren't married yet, I really loved this lively atmosphere of the Cooper family, so I was happy to come for meals with Jason.
This warm and harmonious family atmosphere was something I had never experienced at home before.
It was fresh and very endearing.
During the commercials, Tamsin mentioned Ember bringing Flora to visit.
Kelly snuggled close to me and curled her lip at the mention.
"Don't pay attention to Flora. She's no good. She used to date several guys at the same time, unfaithful and promiscuous. Someone like her still has her eye on Jason - shameless and disgusting."
Tamsin paused, then her expression darkened.
She called over a servant and ordered coldly, "From now on, if anyone from the Miller family comes, throw them out directly!"
Finally, Tamsin added, "Such unlucky people, they'll dirty our home!"
Kelly cheered and affectionately took Tamsin's arm, "You're so cool! I love you!"
Tamsin shook her head helplessly, clearly having no way to deal with Kelly.
I just sat quietly listening.
Those two suddenly coming to the Cooper family must have something to do with Jason.
