Chapter 118
Jason used so much force that Victoria flew back two or three meters.
She rolled on the ground several times in a mess before collapsing.
I stared wide-eyed in shock.
She was Jason's lifesaver!
Jason was being so harsh to his lifesaver. Wasn't that a bit too cruel?
But the next second, I felt gleeful about her misfortune.
Who told Victoria to come mess with me?
Now that she was suffering, I was naturally happy.
Jason strode forward, and I followed close behind.
Victoria covered her mouth, coughing miserably.
She looked at Jason with fear and grievance, tears streaming down, "Jason, how could you treat me like this? What did I do wrong?"
"You just tried to kill someone. If I hadn't stopped you in time, Sue would be in the ER by now," Jason said.
His voice sounded calm, but I could faintly hear the anger underneath.
"I didn't! I just wanted to scare her! How could I actually kill someone?" Victoria shook her head repeatedly, looking especially disheveled with her hair all over the place.
Jason remained unmoved and took out his phone to call the police, "You can tell the police whatever you want to say."
"No!" Victoria screamed miserably. She crawled toward Jason's feet, trying to grab his legs.
"Jason, I'm begging you, don't call the police! I saved your life back then! You can't do this to me. If you call the police, my life is over! Please don't..."
"For saving my life back then, the Cooper family gave you money and sent you abroad to study. After you came back, they also gave you a job. We've already repaid what we owed you."
Jason dodged Victoria's hand and said coldly into the phone, "I want to report someone attacking with a knife, the address is..."
Hearing Jason on the phone, Victoria finally got scared.
She turned to run, but I stepped on her back.
Victoria screamed and struggled to get up again, so I kicked her again.
After several rounds of this, Victoria finally couldn't take it anymore.
She looked up at Jason, her voice shrill, "Jason, are you just going to watch her bully me like this?!"
Jason lit a cigarette, leaned against the wall, and looked at me with a smile in his eyes.
I paused, my heartbeat speeding up uncontrollably.
But Victoria was hurt by this scene. She screamed, "Jason, she's tricking you! She had a child with another man before, and now she's trying to seduce you. Wake up!"
"The child is my daughter. Is there a problem?" Jason raised an eyebrow.
At these words, Victoria opened her mouth but couldn't speak.
She shook her head in a daze, "No... that's not right. How could she deserve to have your child? And five years ago..."
"Five years ago, I was already hers. Is that not okay?" Jason finished and winked at me.
The police arrived.
The moment the sirens went from distant to near, Victoria finally lost all strength to resist.
Since Jason and I were also involved, the police took us back to give statements.
Victoria was put in detention on the spot for attempted assault with solid evidence.
As for how long she'd be sentenced, we'd have to wait for the trial.
Jason and I were released after giving our statements.
Standing at the police station entrance, my phone rang.
Brian's concerned voice came through, "Are you okay? I heard what happened."
"I'm fine, thanks to Mr. Cooper showing up in time."
I paused and added, "Thanks for your concern. I've already finished giving my statement at the police station. I'll be back at work soon, won't delay too much."
After a moment of silence on the other end, Brian responded quietly and hung up.
I put away my phone and looked up, catching Jason's gaze unexpectedly.
"His news travels fast. He called you so quickly, so concerned about you?"
I twitched my lips, "Is it possible that Victoria attacked me in DT Corp's underground parking lot?"
As DT Corp's CEO, wasn't it normal for Brian to know what happened at his own company?
"Then why don't you quit? Every day seeing you work by Brian's side, talking to him, meeting with him, even taking his calls - it drives me crazy."
Jason's car arrived. He pushed me into the back seat without giving me a choice and got in right after.
"This is my job. If you get so mad you die, I'm not responsible," I shook my head.
Jason pressed his lips together and turned away, sulking.
I couldn't help but smile a little.
Jason suddenly turned back and asked, "Do you like the house?"
I thought about it and nodded honestly, "I like it a lot."
"If you like it, why won't you move? It's your house. It's only natural for you to live there."
Jason leaned closer, resting his chin directly on my shoulder.
I shifted to the side to create some distance. "No, it's too expensive."
I liked it, but something so valuable - I didn't dare accept it.
"You and Jessica are more important to me. Just thinking about you and Jessica crammed in a rental while I sleep in a big villa makes me feel guilty. At night, I toss and turn and can't sleep."
Jason looked at me pitifully, "Sue, do you really have the heart to let me lose sleep every night?"
I looked away toward the window. After confirming we were heading to DT Corp, I continued, "If you can't sleep, see a doctor. The doctor will give you sleeping pills."
But Jason continued, "If you don't move, I'll come sleep at your place every day."
"If I move, you won't come?" I asked back.
Jason had nothing to say.
We arrived at DT Corp.
With Victoria's delay, my work had probably piled up.
I wanted to get through it quickly, but just as I got to my desk before sitting down, a colleague came out of the office, "Ms. Wilson, Mr. Ethan wants to see you."
I acknowledged and quickly walked into Brian's office.
Brian was sitting in his chair with a cigarette between his fingers.
Seeing me, he put it out and looked me up and down.
After confirming I really wasn't hurt, Brian sighed, "Sue, I told you before - getting involved with Jason would be dangerous."
"Can't help it. We have a child together, so we'll probably be connected for life," I answered calmly.
I knew what Brian was trying to do with these words.
Precisely because I knew, I needed to firmly refuse.
A flash of disappointment crossed Brian's eyes.
He waved his hand and said hoarsely, "Stay safe. You can go."
Coming out of the office, I immediately dove into work mode.
By the time work hours ended, I still wasn't finished.
Thinking that Jessica was at Old Cooper Mansion with Grandma Cooper taking care of her, I didn't leave but stayed to work overtime.
"Why are you still here?"
