Chapter 107
Kelly was taking photos, saying excitedly, "You two are such a perfect match! Don't worry! I'll make sure you look great in these photos!"
Jason and I exchanged glances, seeing the helplessness in each other's eyes.
I took the chance to push Jason's hand away and put some distance between us.
Jason looked over, his gaze landing on Kelly. "If you keep talking so much, give the money back."
Kelly immediately shut up, covering her mouth tightly with her hand.
Only then did Jason look at me, continuing our earlier conversation. "As long as you marry me, all my money is yours."
"Even if you don't get married, don't you have to spend your money on Sue anyway?" Grandma Cooper chimed in from the side.
Jason's expression stiffened for a moment.
He looked at Grandma Cooper, wanting to say something but holding back. After a long silence, he still couldn't help himself.
"Grandma, are you planning to give up on Sue?"
Grandma Cooper huffed quietly but eventually closed her mouth.
Sitting there, I felt so awkward.
Jason and I hadn't made up, but the Cooper family was clearly treating me as Jason's girlfriend.
Looking at Jessica, I said, "Jessica, let's go home."
"It's almost lunchtime. I had the housekeeper make food. Let's eat together," Grandma Cooper said, looking at me eagerly. "I specifically had the housekeeper make dishes you and Jessica love. Stay for lunch!"
"Yeah, Sue, just eat here. The housekeeper's cooking is really good," Kelly nodded along.
Even Thomas, who was playing with Jessica, looked up with hidden expectation in his eyes.
I couldn't really refuse, so I nodded reluctantly. "Alright then."
After lunch, before I could mention leaving, Kelly was already linking her arm through mine.
"Sue, do you play games?"
"I don't really play games," I shook my head.
To survive, I really didn't have time for games.
"I'll teach you! Let's play together! Don't worry, I'll make sure you experience the fun of gaming!"
I really wasn't good at dealing with enthusiastic, sunny girls like Kelly.
Thinking that since I'd decided not to go to the hospital to take care of Cora, and I had nothing else to do on my day off, I simply agreed.
I originally thought the game would be difficult, but before long, I got the hang of it.
Instead, Kelly looked at me in shock. "Is this really your first time playing games?"
"Yeah," I nodded seriously.
"You're really talented! It's only been half an hour! I feel like you've completely learned it already! It took me a whole day to learn before!"
Kelly exclaimed, looking at me with pure admiration!
I felt a bit embarrassed by her gaze. "Maybe I just happened to find a game I'm good at."
Jason happened to walk past behind us.
He leaned over, his tone proud. "Of course, Sue is the best."
I looked at him awkwardly. "Don't talk nonsense, it's just luck."
"I'm telling the truth," Jason smiled, looking down at me. "In my heart, you're always the best."
Kelly was giggling on the side again.
I silently pushed Jason away.
After playing games all afternoon and having dinner, before I could mention going home, Jason suddenly got a phone call, then looked at me. "Let's go, come hang out with me."
"I won't go," I frowned slightly in refusal. "It's getting late, I'll take Jessica home."
"Tomorrow is Monday, Jessica doesn't have to go to kindergarten. Just let her play here. She probably hasn't finished the Lego set she was building this afternoon, right?"
As soon as Jason finished speaking, Grandma Cooper immediately responded, "Yes, just let Jessica stay here. Having her here with me makes me so happy every day!"
Thomas also nodded repeatedly. "That's right, we all love Jessica. You don't need to worry about her being any trouble."
With them saying all that, I had no choice but to agree reluctantly.
Instead, Kelly looked excited. "You're going out to have fun, right? Take me with you!"
She blinked at Jason. "Jason—"
Jason raised an eyebrow and waved his hand. "Let's go then."
Bay Flower Club.
Jason held my hand as we walked in, with Kelly following behind us, watching us.
My body stiffened, wanting to pull my hand out of Jason's.
When we got out of the car earlier, I didn't want Jason holding my hand.
But he wouldn't agree.
I didn't want to struggle too much with Jason.
Jason immediately tightened his grip on my hand.
He turned his head and threatened in a low voice, "If you keep moving, I'll kiss you right here in public."
I relaxed my strength, and only then was Jason satisfied.
He turned his head, glancing at Kelly from the corner of his eye, immediately putting on a stern face and scolding, "If you keep making noise, go back home!"
Kelly immediately covered her mouth.
Pushing open the private room door, I immediately saw Ryan and Richard sitting inside.
"Ms. Wilson, long time no see."
Ryan smiled and nodded at me, taking the initiative to greet me.
I responded just as politely.
Richard's eyes, however, carried sarcasm and hostility as he looked me up and down. "You really are a gold digger after all."
I frowned. "Mr. Cooper and I haven't made up."
"Then why did you walk in holding hands?" Richard sneered.
I immediately let go of Jason's hand and turned to leave. "Looks like you don't welcome me here."
Jason pulled me back, glancing at Richard with a warning. "If you can't speak properly, get out."
Richard's face looked unpleasant. He opened his mouth to say something more, but Ryan gently tugged his arm.
Ryan shook his head at him. "We finally have time to get together today, there's no need to fight."
Then Ryan greeted Kelly, "You came today too."
Kelly smiled and chatted with the two of them for a bit, then sat down to the side.
Jason sat on the other side with those two, drinking and chatting casually, while I sat with Kelly.
Seeing I wasn't in high spirits, Kelly consoled me in a low voice, "Sue, don't mind him. Richard has a sharp tongue, but he doesn't mean any harm."
I didn't want to comment, just nodded.
Suddenly, Kelly leaned close to me and asked in a low voice, "What do you think of Ryan? Is he handsome?"
