Chapter 106
"You actually like her?"
Jason was quite surprised. He shook his head, "I think she's a bit too noisy, always chattering away."
I smiled and said nothing.
I envied Kelly's personality, because only girls who grew up surrounded by love could be so carefree.
This was what I longed for most but had never received.
"When you have free time, you can hang out with her. I remember she's usually either shopping or meeting up with friends. She has plenty of spare time."
Seeing that I didn't respond, Jason took the initiative to suggest.
Just as I was about to speak, my phone notification sounded.
I looked down at the message.
It was from Luke.
Luke: [Sue, you've really disappointed me. Even if you have issues with Mom, you shouldn't deliberately find someone to upset her. If Mom's condition gets worse, I will never forgive you!]
Luke: [You weren't like this before. What's wrong with you now? Is it because you've latched onto Mr. Cooper and now you look down on us? Take a good look at Mr. Cooper's status - there's too big a gap between you two. You're not good enough for him. He's just playing around with you because he's interested right now. You don't actually think you two can get married, do you? If you ask me, you should drop these fantasies and hurry up and marry some ordinary guy!]
I read every word.
I'd known for a long time how they felt about me, but seeing it still hurt.
I didn't reply and just deleted the messages.
I also lost my desire to keep chatting.
Jason didn't ask anything and just played some soothing light music.
Soon, the car stopped smoothly outside the old mansion villa.
Kelly arrived at the same time as us.
After Jason and I got out of the car, Kelly immediately jogged over and affectionately linked her arm with mine, "You and my brother look so perfect together! Just standing there, even from far away, anyone can tell you're made for each other!"
I felt a bit awkward.
After all, Jason and I hadn't made up yet, so hearing this felt weird.
Kelly seemed oblivious to my discomfort and continued excitedly, "Every time I see you two, I think you're such a perfect match! I really wish you'd get married right now, immediately!"
I almost stumbled.
But Jason's lips curved up, his tone quite pleased, "If it were possible, I'd want to get married right away too."
I turned my head and stared at him expressionlessly.
"Mommy!" Jessica saw us arrive and immediately rushed over excitedly.
I immediately crouched down and hugged Jessica, rubbing her little head, "Are you happy here?"
"Yes! But I missed Mommy too!" Jessica enthusiastically kissed my cheek.
Grandma Cooper and Thomas also came out.
"Sue, how's the situation with your mother?" Grandma Cooper asked proactively.
"It's early-stage cancer. She's already hospitalized, waiting for treatment. She should be fine soon." I answered honestly.
Thomas nodded from the side, "If there are any problems, let Jason handle them. Don't be polite, and don't feel embarrassed."
I nodded with a smile.
Grandma Cooper knew my relationship with my family wasn't great, so she didn't ask too many questions about it and instead invited us all to sit inside.
Jason sat beside me, pressed tightly against me, and that wasn't enough - his hand was also around my waist.
Taking advantage of Grandma Cooper and Thomas's attention being on Jessica, I glared at Jason fiercely and yanked his hand away!
"Jason, stop it!"
"I'm not." Jason blinked innocently, "My hand won't listen to me. It just wants to be on you. You're too charming - I can't control my hand anymore."
My mouth twitched, "You think I'll believe that?"
"Don't know, but I believe it anyway." Jason finished speaking and moved even closer, looking at me eagerly, "If you're unhappy, glare at me again? Then let me hold you a bit longer?"
Kelly sat right across from us, eyes bright as she watched us.
"You two are so sweet! Just get married already!"
Jason nodded with satisfaction and, without a word, pulled out his phone and transferred money to Kelly.
I caught a glimpse from the corner of my eye, just for saying a few words to make Jason happy, she got two hundred thousand dollars!
Is this the difference between people?
Kelly became even more enthusiastic and excited after receiving the transfer.
"Jason, you're still young and healthy. Why don't you and Sue have another baby? You're handsome, Sue's beautiful, and Jessica is like a little doll. With such excellent genes, shouldn't you have a few more kids?"
Kelly cupped her face in her hands, as if she could already see the children Jason and I would have.
With every sentence she said, Jason's expression grew more pleased.
In just this short time, I'd already seen Jason transfer money to her several times.
"Like money?" Jason suddenly asked in my ear.
"Of course, who doesn't like money?" I nodded frankly.
"As long as you want it, I can give you much more." Jason leaned in closer.
Kelly sat across from us, legs shaking excitedly, her squeals barely muffled by her hands over her mouth.
Hearing Kelly's sounds, my face felt a bit hot. I wanted to push Jason away, but he grabbed my chin first, forcing me to meet his eyes.
Jason's fingertip slowly caressed my lips, his voice low, "Sue, you know that for you, I'd give you even my life."
"I'm not a murderer, what would I do with your life?" I couldn't help but retort.
Several camera shutter sounds rang out in succession.
Jason and I both turned our heads to look.
Kelly was holding her phone, taking pictures of us.
Seeing us look over, she grinned, "It's fine, it's fine, don't mind me. You two keep talking."
