Chapter 145 Victoria gave birth to Emily in agony.
Emily was born.
The doctor whispered to her, "The baby is fine! Just stay in the incubator for a week, and you can take her home."
Victoria collapsed on the pillow, her lips trembling uncontrollably.
That night, she experienced too much joy and sorrow and endured too much pain. She was now too weak to utter a word.
Lauren held her hand, smiling and crying, "Victoria, did you hear that? The baby is fine! The baby is fine!"
Victoria tried to force a smile.
But the next moment, tears rolled down from the corners of her eyes.
Emily was sent to the incubator.
Mrs. Sackler watched from outside, filled with joy. This was Zachary's child; she was now a grandmother!
Looking at the child's features, the arched eyebrows, and the high nose, it was indeed a replica of Zachary.
Mrs. Sackler gazed for a long time.
Perhaps out of a sense of attachment, she finally remembered Victoria and asked the servant late at night, "How is Victoria now?"
The servant hesitated to speak.
Mrs. Sackler frowned. "What's wrong with her?"
This time, the servant didn't dare to hide it and revealed, "After giving birth to the child, Victoria rested for only half an hour, then put on her clothes and left with her mother. I guess she went to see her father for the last time."
Mrs. Sackler's heart sank.
After a long silence, she asked in a low voice, "Has the Pritzker family sent any message inviting us to the funeral?"
The servant shook his head. "No! They didn't say anything."
Mrs. Sackler sat dejectedly on the bench.
She understood that Victoria intended to finish with Zachary. She should have been happy; after all, the child was born, so it didn't matter whether Victoria stayed or left.
But she couldn't find joy in it.
She remembered Vincent's words. "Zachary will go crazy one day."
'No, Zachary was her son; how could he go crazy for a woman?' She pondered.
Mrs. Sackler didn't believe it!
The Pritzker family's door was wide open.
The night wind blew into the house, chilling to the bone.
The Pritzker family's makeshift memorial hall was cold and bleak. Gabriel, who had lived a glorious life, couldn't even have his son send him off. Only his second wife took care of the arrangements.
Victoria walked into the memorial hall and knelt slowly.
Although she had just given birth, her figure was thin, lacking the glow of a new mother. She looked as if all her vitality had been drained overnight.
She held onto the coffin, her slender fingers trembling lightly.
She looked at Gabriel's face, crying bitterly. She knelt and apologized, feeling responsible for her brother's imprisonment and her father's sudden death.
She almost lost everything overnight.
Lauren's eyes welled up with tears as she supported Victoria, crying with her.
Whitney found it even harder to bear. She rushed over and hugged Victoria, crying, "When your father passed away, his biggest concern was you, Victoria. I know you are very sad, but you must take care of yourself. It's so cold at night, so you shouldn't kneel here! If your father knew the, he would be very sad!"
But Victoria refused to get up.
She knelt on the ground to bid farewell to him, clasping her hands together and praying to God.
She hoped her father could sense her thoughts in the afterlife and forgive her for not being by his side when he passed away.
Her face was covered in tears as she softly told Gabriel that she had given birth to a baby girl named Emily . She promised to take good care of the child, loving Emily as her mother loved her.
Whitney supported her, also shedding tears.
The Pritzker family was immersed in grief, not issuing any obituaries for simplicity.
But the Pritzker family had once been illustrious, and Mason's case had been sensational. Gabriel's death even made the headlines in Redwater for whole three days without interruption.
Many people attended the funeral!
Kylie and Nicole, Mr. Lee and Gates, Bradley and Vincent, and even Mr. Van from Joyvale City came specially to bid farewell.
Only Zachary did not return!
In the following days, Victoria never mentioned him once, as if he had never existed in her life, neither as a husband nor as a lover.
She managed her father's affairs with a body still recovering from childbirth.
When Mitchell arrived at the memorial hall, he felt regretful and apologetic. He apologized to Victoria.
Victoria stood in front of the memorial hall, looking at her father's portrait with a faint smile. "Mitchell, I know you did your best! The Pritzker family is now in this state, merely subject to Zachary's favor. When he favored me, everything was smooth. When he didn't, my well-being, my happiness, none of it mattered to him!" She shed a few tears gently. "By his side, I had to beg and please him like a dog without dignity, but it might not have worked! In the end, this is my fate!"
Zachary once said that she had nothing else but to beg him!
Now, she wouldn't beg him anymore.
Because she had almost nothing left!
A gust of wind blew through the hall as Victoria stood quietly in the night, her body already very thin. She stood there quietly, then clasped her hands together again, bidding Gabriel a final farewell.
A week later, it was at Redwater International Airport.
Zachary got off the private jet, accompanied not only by the White family, but also by Yara's cousin Melissa.
Of course, Yara's cremains were also there.
Carter held Yara's cremains, deeply saddened but didn't dare to cry.
Alison had other plans. They had gained immense wealth because of Yara, but now that their daughter has died, so they needed someone to carry on that glory. Melissa was the most outstanding among the younger generation, and she even bore some resemblance to Victoria.
Indeed, when Zachary first saw Melissa, he was taken aback.
Alison thought there was a chance.
As they approached the VIP channel at the airport, Zachary was about to part ways with the White family. Carter expressed many words of gratitude to Zachary.
Zachary remained indifferent, barely responding.
Alison seized the opportunity to pull Carter aside, leaving Melissa and Zachary alone. However, she didn’t expected that Zachary would ask about the film.
In the VIP smoking area, Zachary, dressed in all black with a black overcoat, looked cold and handsome. His cheeks were slightly sunken as he smoked, exuding a strong masculine aura.
Melissa's heart raced as she watched him.
But she dared not think too much because Zachary had a wife and was said to be expecting a child soon. Before she left, her grandmother warned her not to follow in Yara's footsteps to become someone's mistress!
Melissa knew it well.
She looked at the handsome man in front of her, finding it hard to connect him with Yara. They were really worlds apart. Besides, she had seen Victoria online, who was truly beautiful.
She suspected Zachary's aesthetics!
Zachary flicked the cigarette ash and said coldly, "In Yara's belongings, there is a film titled 'Meditation.' If you find it, send it to the company, and Secretary Thomas will issue a check for you."
Melissa understood that Zachary admired Yara's talent.
She smiled calmly and agreed immediately.
Zachary was slightly stunned; he felt Melissa resembled Victoria.
He didn't want to look anymore, nor did he dare to.
Victoria no longer loved him; she said that every interaction with him made her feel disgusted.
How could things have come to this with Victoria?
As Zachary extinguished his cigarette and straightened up, a deep, unshakeable emotion lingering in his dark eyes. He didn't say goodbye to Melissa but walked straight toward the exit.
At the entrance to the reception area, Secretary Thomas hurried over to him.
The moment she saw Zachary, she was hesitant, not knowing where to begin.
So much had happened in a week.
And Zachary was unaware of it all.
She looked at Zachary, her eyes moist, her lips trembling slightly. Her first words were, "Zachary, the child was born prematurely!"
