All the way home Nikki was talking about how beautiful the dress was and that she can’t wait for me and Nicolas to get married, she was so excited and I get it, she’s been begging me for a father for years and to get her own blood father must be such a huge thing to her. When we stopped at the apartment building, she jumped out and as we walked to the lift she said “Can we watch Bridal Wars tonight?” I knew this was going to happen since we told her the wedding will be at the Plaza. “We can but you can’t tell dad anything about my dress, it’s bad luck for the groom to know how the dress looks.” She made a motion with her hand like she was zipping her lips and then she held out her pinky, “Pinky promise.” We linked our pinkies and she said again “Pinky promise.” When the lifts open Nicolas was waiting for us in the foyer. “And this welcoming party?” I asked him. “I missed you guys.” Nikki threw her arms around his waist and gave him a hug. “Miss you to dad.” She said before she let go of him and walked into the house. “How did it go?” He asked as he pulled me towards him “Good, very good actually I’m not searching anymore I found two I really like or should I say one I love and one Nikki loves and now we have to get JP to make the last decision.” “It is your wedding Nicol you should decide what you want to wear, don’t worry about what Nikki says. She’s not going to take your advice the day she get’s married.” “That is also true but I really like both.” “If, you are sure?” “I am very sure. I still need to ask JP to be my Grooms man.” “Fuck I haven’t asked Luther either.” “Well, I did ask Nikki and she is very happy to stand in front with us.” “I’m sure she is. Come I already ordered the pizza.”
As we walked into the living room, Nikki was already in her PJ’s busy looking for the movie she wanted to watch. “Oh yes we watching Bridal Wars, you will see what the fuss is all about with The Plaza.” “Oh okay. I can’t wait.” “You might not even like the movie.” I told him. “You know what Nicol as long as I’m with the two of you tonight sitting on the coach stuffing our faces with pizza and me with wine off course, I’m happy that is all I want tonight.” I got on my tippy toes and kissed him. “Well then let’s go get comfortable before Nikki starts the movie without us.” Both Nicolas and I went to the walk-in closet to get dressed in more comfortable cloths I opted for my PJ’s and Nicolas for his sweatpants and a t-shirt. “Let’s go.” He took my hand, we grabbed the pizza out of the oven warmer and went to sit in the living room underneath the blankets. “Are you ready dad?” Nikki asked him. “I’m ready sweat pea.” She pressed play and we all got quiet watching the movie.
Nicolas actually enjoyed the movie, he whispered “I see why she’s so fascinated with the Plaza now.” Nikki was already sleeping which I was expecting I mean she had two ballet classes this week and there were a lot of school things that went on. I don’t even think she made it to the actual weddings. Nicolas picked her up and took her to her room she was so tired she didn’t even wake up. Then he came to sit with me. “Now what went on with you this week?” He asked because we really didn’t have time for each other this week. I leaned with my head on his shoulder. “Let’s just say the Gala is sorted we can now just show up and be the host and hostess. Oh, wait there is one thing I wanted to ask you.” “Ask away.” “Will you make a speech at the Gala?” “Sweetheart it’s your Charity it’s your baby you should make the speech.” “You do know I’m not good with public speaking, right?” “I’ll write you a speech and you can read it.” “No please Nicolas, I want you to do it.” I looked at him and fluttered my eyes “Pretty please.” “Well how can I say no to those eyes.” I knew he won’t be able to say no, so yes, a win for me. “What happened in your life this week?” “Work work and work, the new department is taking of like rockets, I can’t believe I closed that side of the business when I took over, I really didn’t realize how many companies still needs our services.” “I’m very happy to hear that, Nicolas.” “Me to Nicol I mean we put in a lot of money into that project if it didn’t work it would have been a big lost.” “Well, it did work nothing to worry about now.” I closed my eyes for a second because this week was just so exhausting to me as it was for Nikki, when I open my eyes again, I was in Nicolas arms. “What’s going on?” I asked totally out of it. “You fell asleep on the coach sweetheart.” “But I just closed my eyes.” He put me in bed and closed me with the duvet. “Sleep sweetheart it was a ruff week.” I know he kissed me on the forehead and then I was out again.
