Chapter 28

Andrew's POV

I watched Eilliot walk out of the office, the look he gave me was something I could not phantom. My door creaked open and Leo walked in, the look on his face as he approached me, I already knew what he wanted to say.

“No you cannot hand him over to the police, Leo.” I said even before he could propose it

“But why? He's literally causing a nuisance,” his face squeezed into a frown as he looked at me. Leo and Elliot have not always been cool with each other. Always at each other's throat.

“He's my brother, Leo. I can't throw him for the dogs to eat” I said to him, he rolled his eyes taking his seat.

Aside from all the troubles Eilliot caused me in the past, Leo was there to help take the company back to its original state.

Leo was not just my assistant, actually he was the only son of the Charles family, and with his good grades, he helped his father at the family construction companies built by his grandfather, but most times, worked with me. According to him, Hills Enterprise was a breathing space for him.

“C'mon, Leo.” I said to him, he falls back to his seat before saying,

“What if he comes after the company like he did the last time? He asked me, and I fell back to my chair, rubbing my head.

“I know he's after the company but Eilliot is after another thing.” I stated, Leo darted his gaze at me,

“What do you think he's after?” Leo turned fully to me.

“Anything precious to me.” I added, confusing him the more.

“You three things are most precious to you and that is the company, Tara and Nanny Dorothy. So which of them?” He asked me, my hunch kept telling me Tara but I just want to let go of the past.

“Could it be….?” Leo looked at me as his voice trailed, then he gasped aloud.

“No…not Her.” I quickly said. Leo looked at me then scoffed,

“Not her indeed.” he added, looking up at me, I sighed deeply.

“You know Eilliot, whatever he set his mind to, that's what he'll do” Leo says, his eyes darted to the invite on the table,

“The Denex deal?” He questioned and I nodded.

“We got an invite too but I wouldn't be going as Leo Charles but as your assistant. My father keeps begging me to take over the company.” He sighs, Leo was not just an office guy. He hated to have much to do at one shot.

“Eilliot would announce his return there.” He added, looking at me, I nodded in agreement.

“We need to keep our investors intact. It was a great way to keep them hidden.” I added,

“But what do we do about Elliot? Are we just going to let him troop in and out like he owns the place?”

“Try tracking his current location, any leads you have, you can keep track of it and try to find out more about him.” I added, looking at him, I looked at the stack of paper on the table,

“Here. You should have this, I have a feeling he will come for those at night. Probably break into This place.” I added. Handing him the files to the Denex deal,

“Smart.” Leo says giving me a thumbs 0up,then walks out of the office. I sighed then fell to my chair, the door creaked open as Laura walked in.

“What's the matter this time?” I turned to her,

“You haven't signed this, Sir.”

“Drop that there, I'll send it later to you” I added, she nodded dropping the files on the table as she headed out of the room.

“What was Eilliots mission of coming back? It's been three years since I last saw him. I took at the family picture we took before the passing of Dad, it's all going back to time.

I hated to see my father and brother argue most of the time but I could tell they both cared for each other. For some reason, Eilliot thought I was faking being intelligent, while he got scolded.

My cell phone rang, I looked to see an unknown number calling, feeling a little bit of reluctance to pick up, I finally swiped the dial, answering the call,

“Who's this?” I asked,

“Your beloved brother.” I frowned, how the hell did he get my number?

“Where did you get my new line? I asked,

“You are a public figure. There is no way I can't have your number, how did I get it? Leave that to me, a magician never reveals his secret.” He says, I could sense the smirk in his voice.

“What's with you? You do know I could hand you over to the police.” I stated,

”You're far too kind to throw me under the bus.” He says,

He was not joking, neither was he teasing. I was far too kind on him,

“Do not take my kindness for granted because I would fire back.” I answered, my fist clenched into a ball.

“Oh trust me, I am not.” He answered, the paused for a minute, as the long silence ate me up, he then said,

“Give up the seat and just maybe I would be nice enough.”

“Was that a threat?” My face twisted into a small scowl.

“It's not a threat. But it is a warning. You have had far too much time there”

“Elliot!” I yelled banging the table with my hand, my breathing increased as I breathe heavily, trying as much as I can to suppress my anger.

“I dare you to do your worst! “ I said to him, then hung up immediately, it was the audacity for me.

I checked my time, it was already late,I picked up my briefcase, as I closed my office door,

Everyone had left. I entered my car and zoomed off in anger.
