Chapter 421 Main Text [Grand Finale]
"What does Cecilia want to ask me? I thought you knew perfectly well."
Timothy's tone sounded somewhat sarcastic.
Cecilia was old and couldn't handle stimulation. Timothy worried that if she died here it would bring bad luck, so he toned down his sarcasm.
He kept that calm smile on his face. "Actually, I'm curious. When Jane and the others left Border Ridge City back then, they were only about six years old. Why do they still hate us so much after growing up?"
They weren't child geniuses. Who remembers grudges between adults from when they were six?
Hearing this, Cecilia felt like she was shooting herself in the foot. "Are you mistaken? Jane and Tommy are good kids. How could they hate you?"
Cecilia thought she had everything under control.
Little did she know, she was too clever for her own good. If a child grows up still resenting adults, naturally it's because someone has been deliberately guiding them all along.
"Back then, my father was perfectly healthy. But after he went to Sylvanor, an accident happened."
Timothy said with fake concern, "Cecilia, you're old too. You must be careful when you walk from now on. Don't end up like my father, okay?"
Cecilia heard the threatening tone. She couldn't help but angrily demand, "Timothy, what exactly do you want! Mr. Robinson's death was clearly an accident!"
She might be eighty, but she was still afraid of dying.
And she wasn't willing to give up. She hadn't yet seen the day when all her scheming would succeed.
Timothy sneered. "Although I have no evidence to prove my father's death was related to you, I've always suspected you. Do you know why I've let you live until now?"
Timothy didn't mind letting Elizabeth hear what he was about to say.
He held Elizabeth's hand. "I didn't want to avenge my father too early. If he hadn't been lustful, he wouldn't have been killed. I have issues with him too."
Besides, if Manuel hadn't been so stubborn, some things wouldn't have happened.
Timothy glanced at Cecilia casually. "You've spent so many years working hard to cultivate Sloane. I'd feel bad destroying your wishes."
Timothy looked at the TV screen. At this moment, Sloane was still sitting in the conference room, looking very distressed.
Cecilia instinctively looked at the screen, then at Timothy's smile. She was about to lose her mind.
What was he talking about?
"Oh, by the way, Sloane is pregnant," Timothy kindly informed Cecilia, then added calmly, "Too bad Tommy won't let this child be born."
Cecilia instantly felt dizzy, her eyes wide open, staring at Timothy, filled with shock.
Cecilia finally felt afraid at this moment.
Sloane was the daughter of Cecilia's grandson Armando, the hope Cecilia had pinned everything on. Cecilia loved Sloane too.
Cecilia was too shocked to speak, looking at Timothy with eyes full of rage.
Old people just can't handle shocks.
Timothy looked at Cecilia like this, still wearing that faint smile on his face, as if all of this had nothing to do with him.
He sighed softly. "You'll probably die with your eyes open. All these years, I've had people watching your lives."
Just a moment ago, she felt things were turning around. However, Timothy had so easily shattered that hope.
She fell into complete despair.
She thought Timothy hadn't been monitoring them all these years.
Timothy waved his hand lightly and called over a bodyguard. He calmly ordered, "Send Cecilia back to The Robinson Mansion."
The bodyguard immediately stepped forward and pushed Cecilia away.
As Cecilia was being wheeled away, a strong premonition rose in her heart—she didn't have much time left.
When facing the edge of death, people often develop the darkest emotions. Cecilia was no exception.
"Timothy, do you know why Jake hates you so much? It was me, it was me," Cecilia slapped the wheelchair armrest, her voice carrying a hint of madness and distortion. She laughed loudly, "I guessed Annie was pregnant back then. I deliberately didn't tell you. Your father, Mr. Robinson, was also killed by me!"
Timothy's expression remained calm. "So," his voice was low and cold, "do you think that by revealing these truths before you die, you can get revenge on me? You've schemed so much. What's the result now?"
Cecilia's laughter stopped abruptly.
She stared at Timothy's face, finding no sign of wavering or pain on it, only coldness and indifference.
The bodyguard didn't hesitate and quickly pushed Cecilia toward the door.
"Elizabeth."
"I'm here."
Elizabeth actively nestled into Timothy's arms.
---
Cecilia was sent to The Robinson Mansion. She didn't dare eat anything or let anyone near her.
Cecilia called Sloane, wanting her to come back quickly.
Unfortunately, Sloane on the other end didn't answer the phone.
At this moment, Sloane was sitting in a car, with Tommy driving.
"Tommy, what are you doing! I really have things to do today. How could you drag me out? Take me back to the company right now!"
Sloane was furious. She was still thinking about how to fight for company power, and Tommy had pulled her out of the company.
"Sloane, I'm taking you to get rid of the baby first." Tommy's expression was grim as he thought of Joe's warning. He cursed, "Fuck!"
"Are you crazy? Why would you get rid of it!" Sloane couldn't believe her ears when she heard this.
She froze for a moment, then looked at Tommy with shock all over her face. "It's our child!"
Seeing Tommy's grim expression, Sloane took a deep breath to calm herself. "Tommy, stop the car, or I'm really going to be angry!"
Tommy continued driving without saying a word.
Sloane rubbed her temples, feeling helpless. She asked softly, "Can you tell me why you want to get rid of it?"
As the car was about to reach the hospital.
Tommy said grimly, finally speaking up, "Sloane, we're going to Sylvanor in a couple of days and never coming back."
Sloane was completely stunned. "Why?"
Tommy found a parking spot and stopped the car. He turned to look at Sloane. "Leaving here is our only chance to survive. Sloane, you—forget it, never mind. Let's get out of the car."
Tommy actually already knew from Joe about Sloane and Cecilia's schemes against him and Jane. Even Sloane's sudden desire for a child had an ulterior motive.
Tommy had said he loved Sloane, so he didn't want to question her about it.
From what Tommy said, Sloane roughly guessed who was targeting them. She stared at Tommy's face. "It's Timothy, isn't it?"
Why so suddenly, this ruthless attack?
Sloane thought of Seraphina's ruined wedding. Her cool eyes showed a trace of confusion. Because they crossed Timothy's line?
Sloane refused to accept it! The plan was so good. Why was it so easily defeated by Timothy!
Tommy opened the car door and got out first. He walked around to the other side and opened the door for Sloane.
"Sloane, get out."
Sloane was someone with strong willpower. She was still young. She still had chances.
Falling down this time wasn't scary. She could still get back up.
Since the child wasn't very useful, if it had to go, it had to go. She cooperatively got out of the car and followed Tommy into the hospital.
Tommy registered. He turned to look at Sloane's calm, delicate face and pressed his lips together.
He actually couldn't bear to lose their first child. "I'm sorry. I'm useless. I can't protect you both."
Sloane wasn't in the mood to comfort Tommy today.
He really was quite useless.
She looked down at her phone, avoiding Tommy's gaze.
She saw missed calls from The Robinson Mansion. Sloane called back.
Cecilia had been waiting by the phone. As soon as it rang, Cecilia quickly answered. "Is that Sloane?"
Sloane heard Cecilia's voice and her heart tightened. "When did you come back to the country?"
Sloane was so anxious she didn't even call her "Grandma."
Cecilia's voice on the other end sounded old and somewhat lost. "Sloane, Timothy knows about our schemes. He brought me back from Sylvanor. Sloane, listen to me. I probably don't have much time left. You must live well. Don't think about revenge anymore. All these years, I've harmed you."
While on the phone, Sloane ran out of the hospital. "Wait for me at home. I'll be right there."
Tommy saw Sloane run out of the hospital and quickly chased after her. "Sloane!"
"You! This is a hospital!" A patient's family member who was almost knocked over angrily cursed at the running Sloane.
"Sloane, wait!" Tommy finally caught up with her at the hospital entrance. He urgently grabbed her wrist.
"Let go. I need to go see her!" Sloane glared at Tommy with resentment.
The hatred in Sloane's eyes startled him.
Tommy was stunned by her resentful look and let go of her hand.
Seeing him release her, Sloane didn't hesitate. She immediately opened a taxi door and got in.
Tommy still followed and got in the car.
Sloane ignored him and quickly told the driver the address of The Robinson Mansion.
Unfortunately, the driver didn't head toward The Robinson Mansion.
When Jane was still hopefully waiting for rescue, she saw Tommy and Sloane being carried in.
Jane frantically rushed over and grabbed the person coming in. "Who are you people? Let us go. We have money to give you."
Cecilia sat at home waiting until evening but didn't see Sloane return. She looked around the empty living room.
"Someone, where's the butler? Where is he!"
The lights in the house suddenly flickered and all went out.
Power outage.
The Robinson Mansion fell into darkness, pitch black.
Cecilia seemed to bump into something and fell to the ground.
---
Elizabeth was exhausted, covered in sweat, with a few strands of hair stuck to her lips.
Timothy brushed away the hair on her lips, his breathing heavy.
Elizabeth patted his shoulder. "You're going to kill yourself!"
He pinned both her wrists above her head.
"Elizabeth, let's go on a trip tomorrow." Timothy stared at her face.
He willfully demanded that she must agree.
"I've already arranged everything. From now on, every year we'll send a photo back to Seraphina and Brandon."
Elizabeth's fingers traced Timothy's features, her gaze tender. She smiled. "Okay."
Timothy's lips fell by her ear, laughing softly, his voice lingering. "Darling, thank you."
