Chapter 319: Domineering Him
Elizabeth was placed in the back seat, pretending to be unconscious.
She had no idea where the car was heading.
Listening to the conversation between the two people in the car, she sneered inwardly.
"Tonight went really smoothly. I heard this woman is loaded," Brian said sleazily. "What a waste to kill her."
Aurora warned him, "The main thing now is to complete the mission. Once we get the money, I don't care how many women you want to find."
"Boss, I know." Brian was very obedient to Aurora.
The car drove for who knows how long before it stopped.
"We're here," Aurora said. "Get her out."
Elizabeth heard the sound of the car door opening.
Brian helped her out of the car.
Elizabeth was pushed by Brian into a pit they had dug beforehand.
Fortunately, the pit wasn't deep.
Otherwise, she would have been badly hurt from the fall.
"Hurry up and fill it with dirt." Aurora urged.
So they were planning to bury her alive.
Brian responded and started shoveling dirt into the pit.
"Freeze!"
Police suddenly appeared from all sides, surrounding the siblings Brian and Aurora.
Jacob and Robbie quickly jumped into the pit.
"Chairwoman Penrose."
"Ms. Penrose."
Elizabeth opened her eyes. Jacob helped her up while Robbie helped brush the dirt off Elizabeth's body.
The three of them climbed out of the pit.
Elizabeth's gaze fell on Brian and Aurora, the pair who had attempted to murder her.
A police officer walked over. "Ms. Penrose, we need you to come with us to give a statement."
Elizabeth took the wet wipe Jacob handed her and wiped the dirt from her face.
Her expression was serious as she told the officer, "I suspect the mastermind behind this wants to kill me for my money. They're probably after Seraphina Enterprises."
The group set off for the police station.
While Elizabeth was inside giving her statement, Timothy, who was waiting for her at home, became worried when she didn't return and called her.
Jacob stared at the vibrating phone in his hand, looked at the caller ID, and quickly shoved the phone to Robbie. "Robbie, you answer it."
Robbie gave Jacob a cold look, showing zero friendship between alumni. "You answer it."
Robbie shoved the phone back to Jacob.
Jacob didn't dare delay any longer and obediently answered the call. "Hello, Mr. Robinson."
Hearing Jacob answer the phone, Timothy narrowed his eyes. His hand, which had been stirring his coffee with a small spoon, suddenly stopped. "Where's Elizabeth?"
Jacob scratched the back of his head and quickly made up an excuse. "At the party."
Timothy's brow furrowed slightly. "She said she'd just show her face and come back."
Jacob quickly replied, "Ms. Penrose is talking business with a company partner at the party. She'll be back soon. You don't need to worry."
Timothy's lips curved slightly, his tone turning cold. "Jacob, are you sure nothing's wrong?"
Jacob was screaming for help in his mind. He didn't think he'd given anything away.
"Mr. Robinson, really, nothing's wrong."
Timothy was silent for a moment, his voice still calm. "Alright, I understand. If anything happens, notify me immediately."
Jacob breathed a sigh of relief. "Understood, Mr. Robinson."
After hanging up, Timothy tapped his coffee cup with his finger. He had wanted to call Joe to investigate, but stopped himself.
Soon after, Elizabeth finished giving her statement and walked out of the police station.
Seeing Jacob and Robbie's hesitant expressions, she frowned. "What happened?"
Jacob explained, "Mr. Robinson called. We told him you were at the party."
Elizabeth said, "I see. Let's head back quickly."
The group quickly got in the car. On the way, Elizabeth instructed Jacob, "Mr. Grant, in two more days you can hand over the recording of the murder plot we bought from Otha to the police."
Mr. Grant nodded. "Yes."
Elizabeth returned home.
She saw Timothy already standing at the door waiting for her.
Timothy's gaze immediately fell on the dress Elizabeth was wearing. It was now messy and stained with dirt. "Are you hurt anywhere?"
Elizabeth shook her head. "No."
Timothy didn't rush to ask what had happened, but first told her to take a shower.
Elizabeth had thought the matter would pass like this and that Timothy wasn't angry.
But when she came out of the bathroom, Timothy grabbed her ear.
Timothy smiled without showing his teeth, asking eerily, "So, what happened?"
Elizabeth knew she couldn't escape and could only stand up straight and confess honestly. "Tonight Maddox hired people to harm me, but fortunately the police arrived in time and arrested them."
Timothy's eerie smile remained, but his tone grew colder. "Someone tried to harm you? You knew about it beforehand, didn't you, and then used yourself as bait?"
Elizabeth laughed awkwardly, looking at the ceiling. The ceiling light was too bright and glaring, so she looked at the floor instead.
Seeing Elizabeth's guilty look as she stared at the ceiling and floor, Timothy understood everything.
Well done.
Elizabeth explained in a small voice, "I call this drawing out the snake to catch them all at once."
Timothy took a deep breath and smiled. "Do you know how dangerous this was? One wrong move and you'd be finished! And why did you hide it from me?"
Timothy kept pinching Elizabeth's ear.
Elizabeth deliberately covered her ear and cried out in pain.
Timothy knew she was faking it, but still let go, though his expression remained stern.
Elizabeth hooked Timothy's clothes with her pinky finger. "I'm sorry. I didn't tell you right away because if you knew, you definitely wouldn't have agreed to let me use myself as bait."
"Mr. Robinson, stop being angry, okay?"
Elizabeth was being as coy as could be. She planned to coax Timothy all night.
Meanwhile, Maddox, who had left the party and returned home, hadn't received a call from Brian and Aurora.
Maddox paced back and forth anxiously, feeling inexplicably nervous. "Could something have gone wrong?"
Chris also wanted to hear news of Elizabeth's death, so after leaving the party, Chris followed Maddox home. Chris turned to look at the pacing Maddox. "What could have gone wrong?"
"The people I hired to kidnap Elizabeth haven't called me back yet." Maddox frowned.
"Maybe they didn't call because it's too late tonight?" Chris guessed.
Maddox shook his head. "That shouldn't be it. They should have called me immediately after completing the task."
Chris frowned. "Did they fail?"
Maddox and the others weren't at all worried that Brian and Aurora might reveal their identities if they failed.
Because Brian and Aurora didn't know exactly who had hired them.
Maddox's eyes were vicious. "Let's wait a bit longer. Hopefully Elizabeth has already been buried alive."
The casino was brilliantly lit and bustling with people.
Even the air was filled with an atmosphere of tension and excitement.
Otha held a large pile of chips, his eyes bright and alert.
Jacob stood on the second floor, coldly watching Otha's excited appearance.
He had specifically arranged for several experienced gamblers to play with Otha.
Otha was immersed in the world of gambling, his eyes turning red with excitement as the chips in his hands dwindled.
"One more round!" Otha gritted his teeth and fiercely pushed his last handful of chips forward.
The experienced gamblers exchanged glances and secretly signaled to each other.
The dice slowly stopped under Otha's gaze. His face instantly turned ugly - he had lost all of tonight's chips.
"What bad luck," one of the gamblers, who had also deliberately lost a lot, showed a bitter smile. "I don't believe it! Get me more chips!"
Otha angrily slammed the table. "Get me another batch of chips too!"
Jacob, watching from upstairs, shook his head and smiled. People who don't know restraint really have it bad.
Otha rubbed his palms together. "I don't believe I can't win it back today!"
Jacob smiled faintly.
The casino lights shone on Otha, making his bloodshot eyes look even more piercing.
A gambler.
Jacob turned and left the casino.
Jacob knew Otha had completely fallen into the abyss of gambling. With just a little more guidance, Otha would sink deeper and deeper, unable to free himself.
Jacob left the casino and called Elizabeth. "Ms. Penrose, everything is proceeding smoothly according to plan."
Elizabeth on the other end of the phone nodded lightly. "Good, keep watching him."
Elizabeth hung up the phone and directly pulled Timothy's hand, domineeringly making him put his arm around her waist.
"Mr. Robinson, stop being angry. Look, I handled this matter very well."
She saw Timothy only lazily lift his eyelids to look at her.
Elizabeth continued to burrow into his embrace, speaking in a soft, gentle voice. "From now on, whenever something dangerous is involved, I won't hide it from you next time."
