Chapter 309 Seraphina Asks Her for Help
Elizabeth quickly pressed the answer button.
Max's lowered voice came through the phone, "Ms. Elizabeth Penrose, we've caught the man, but there's no sign of Ms. Seraphina Penrose in the room. He refuses to give us any information."
Elizabeth's heart felt like it had been hit hard, a flash of pain crossing her eyes.
Elizabeth tried to calm herself down, "Keep questioning him. You must find a way to get Seraphina's whereabouts."
Max nodded in response, "Understood."
After hanging up, Max frowned and called Timothy.
There were some things Max couldn't tell Elizabeth, "Boss, this man's mouth is really tight. We've actually tried everything, but we can't get him to talk."
A cold gleam flashed in Timothy's eyes, "Bring him to Border Ridge City quietly."
Max agreed.
After hanging up, Timothy worried about Elizabeth and immediately video-called her.
Seeing that Elizabeth's emotions were relatively stable, he said gently, "Elizabeth, I've arranged a morning flight. I'll wait for you to come back to Border Ridge City."
Elizabeth nodded, her voice slightly hoarse, "Okay, we'll leave in the morning."
She looked out at the dark night.
"Mr. Robinson, we'll find Seraphina, right?"
In the morning, Elizabeth and Joe prepared to leave the hotel for the airport.
Elizabeth had just bent down to get in the car, the door still open, when she saw Sarah rushing out of the hotel.
Sarah was running too fast, and wearing high heels, her feet slipped and she fell straight to the ground.
Elizabeth frowned and looked up at Joe outside the car, "Joe, go help Ms. Palmer."
Joe agreed and walked over to help Sarah up, "Ms. Palmer, are you okay?"
Sarah's face turned pale. She looked down at her knee, breaking out in cold sweat from the pain.
Just then, Delilah also caught up and saw Sarah fall.
Delilah quickly supported Sarah's other arm, "What happened?"
Sarah gritted her teeth, enduring the pain, "I'm fine. Delilah, quick, help me get a car."
Delilah didn't know what had happened yet. Sarah had just received a phone call and ran straight out of the hotel.
Delilah quickly nodded, "Okay, I'll get a car."
Seeing Joe still supporting Sarah, Delilah felt comfortable letting go to hail a taxi.
Joe saw that Sarah's knee had clearly scraped off a layer of skin, "Ms. Palmer, you should go to the hospital to check your knee and get it treated. Don't delay."
Elizabeth got out of the car and walked over to Sarah, asking with concern, "Ms. Palmer, if you're in a hurry, I can have someone drive you?"
Although this was a hotel, it was a small place, and waiting for a taxi would take some time.
Sarah was too anxious and thanked Elizabeth for her kindness, "Ms. Penrose, thank you. My relative called to say my grandfather collapsed. I need to get back."
Sarah knew the ambulance couldn't get to the village that quickly to pick up her grandfather Owen Palmer. She planned to get a ride home first to check the situation.
Elizabeth nodded. Seeing Sarah so anxious, she didn't say more, "Joe, arrange a car to take Ms. Palmer home. You go with her and see if they need help."
"Okay." Joe carefully helped Sarah into another car that was originally for the bodyguards. He turned and called to Delilah, "Ms. McCoy, please get in."
Delilah quickly got in the car.
As the car drove away, Delilah somehow looked at Elizabeth through the window, her expression complicated.
Elizabeth watched the car leave, got back in her car, and they continued to the airport.
Sarah's grandfather Owen's home was in Redwood Town.
The small road wasn't very smooth.
Joe sat in the passenger seat. He turned and saw Sarah's face full of anxiety. He could only pass the spare first aid kit to Delilah, "Can you help disinfect and treat Ms. Palmer's knee?"
Delilah thanked him and took the first aid kit, "Sarah, your grandfather will be fine. We'll be home soon."
Sarah nodded reluctantly, "Okay."
The car arrived at Sarah's grandfather Owen's house. Joe got out and opened the door for Sarah, reaching out to help her walk inside.
Relatives were all gathered around Owen's bed, looking anxious.
Sarah rushed to the bedside and saw Owen's face looking terrible, his breathing weak. Her heart ached.
"Sarah's back. We called an ambulance, but it hasn't arrived yet," a relative said.
Sarah held Owen's hand and said softly, "Grandpa, you have to hold on. We'll get you to the hospital right away."
Sarah turned to look at Joe standing behind the relatives, a hint of pleading in her eyes, "Mr. Watson, can we borrow your car?"
Joe nodded.
Sarah immediately had relatives help carry Owen to the car, which quickly drove toward the hospital.
While in the car, Joe called ahead to contact the hospital doctors.
The car sped along and finally reached the hospital.
Because Joe had arranged everything in advance, doctors and nurses were already waiting at the entrance. They immediately lifted Owen onto a stretcher and pushed him to the emergency room.
Sarah grabbed Delilah's hand to steady herself, her eyes full of anxiety.
Time passed bit by bit. The emergency room door finally opened, and the doctor came out, calling for the patient's family.
"Your grandfather is out of danger for now, but we did a brain scan and found a tumor. Given his age, brain tumor surgery carries great risk, and our hospital can't perform this kind of surgery right now." The doctor's tone carried a hint of helplessness.
Sarah gripped Delilah's hand tightly, her voice trembling slightly, "Doctor, thank you."
After the doctor left.
Delilah gently patted the back of Sarah's hand, "Sarah, we can find a specialist in this area. Grandpa will be fine."
Sarah nodded, "I know."
She turned to Joe and said gratefully, "Mr. Watson, thank you and Ms. Penrose for today."
Joe said, "You're welcome. Ms. Palmer should go find a doctor to bandage the wound on your knee first."
Sarah agreed.
Joe watched Delilah help Sarah, who was limping, walk away before texting Elizabeth to report what happened.
Elizabeth saw Joe's message after getting off the plane. She replied, [Joe, you can suggest Ms. Palmer bring her grandfather to Border Ridge City's General Hospital]
Border Ridge City's General Hospital was more specialized in brain surgery.
Elizabeth thought of Sarah falling outside the hotel in her anxiety and sent Sarah a message directly, [If Ms. Palmer wants to bring your grandfather to Border Ridge City's General Hospital, you can contact me. I'll arrange things with the hospital]
Sarah saw Elizabeth's message and felt grateful.
She was just thinking about where to take Owen for surgery when Elizabeth sent this message like timely help in the snow.
She quickly replied, [Ms. Penrose, thank you so much. I'd like to bring Grandpa to Border Ridge City General Hospital. I'm really troubling you]
Elizabeth quickly replied, [I'll let you know after I arrange it]
Elizabeth also sent Joe a message that Sarah would bring Owen to Border Ridge City.
Bodyguards escorted Elizabeth out of the airport.
As soon as Elizabeth walked out of the arrivals hall, she saw Timothy.
Timothy wore casual clothes, his tall figure standing straight. His face showed some fatigue, but when he saw Elizabeth, his eyes were deep and affectionate.
Elizabeth walked over quickly, almost at a jog.
She threw herself into his arms.
Timothy gently held her, tenderly stroking her back.
Elizabeth buried herself in Timothy's embrace, tears flowing uncontrollably.
This time she had rushed to Pineville full of hope to find her daughter, but the result left her so heartbroken.
Timothy lowered his head, his lips gently touching her hair, saying softly, "Let's go home."
He waited for Elizabeth's emotions to settle, gently wiped the tears from her face, protected her as she got in the car, then got in after her.
The car drove smoothly through the streets of Border Ridge City.
Elizabeth sat on Timothy's lap, leaning against his chest. Timothy leaned back in the seat, his arms circling her.
"Elizabeth," Timothy called softly.
"I'm here."
"Haven't you been sleeping these past few days?"
Timothy's finger gently touched her dark circles.
Elizabeth had been half-asleep these past days, so the dark circles were obvious.
She looked up at Timothy and saw he also looked exhausted, knowing he hadn't been sleeping well either.
"You too," she said softly, her voice carrying some fatigue.
Timothy smiled slightly, his fingers gently stroking her cheek, "We both need to rest well so we have the energy to find Seraphina."
Elizabeth nodded and buried her head in Timothy's chest, feeling his heartbeat.
As if only the rhythm of that heartbeat could give her peace.
Whenever she closed her eyes, she would have the illusion of Seraphina reaching out to her for help.
