Chapter 300 Establishing a Missing Persons Company
Willow came home from the beauty salon and cheerfully told Maddox about running into Freya today.
"Mrs. Nightingale?" Maddox suddenly sat up straight, his brow furrowed.
Seeing his serious expression, Willow asked in confusion, "What's wrong? Did you think of something?"
Maddox thought for a moment, then suddenly remembered something.
Russell was already dead, and Elizabeth was Russell's only daughter, which meant Elizabeth would very likely inherit the Nightingale family's fortune.
"If Elizabeth inherits Mr. Nightingale's estate, even if Seraphina Enterprises goes bankrupt, she'll at least still have the Nightingale family's wealth."
Maddox said coldly, a flash of resentment in his eyes.
Willow was slightly stunned, then showed a hint of jealousy. "Well, isn't she lucky. But Elizabeth doesn't get along with Mrs. Nightingale and Mr. Nightingale, so maybe she won't get anything."
Willow also hated Elizabeth. If it weren't for Elizabeth, the company might be Maddox's by now.
---
Elizabeth came home from work and rubbed her temples.
She'd been busy all day, too busy to overthink things.
Timothy was on the phone while pouring Elizabeth a glass of water.
After he hung up.
Elizabeth asked softly, "Any news today?"
Timothy rubbed his temples and said in a low voice, "We're worried about alerting that man, so we can only use our current people to search. It's really difficult."
Elizabeth understood how difficult it was. They had no idea where Rolf had taken Seraphina.
Elizabeth pressed her lips together. "Do you think that man and our daughter left Silverlight City separately?"
Timothy frowned and thought for a moment, then nodded. "It's possible. If we can catch that man first, we won't have to be so careful about being detected when looking for Seraphina."
Elizabeth tried to comfort herself. "Let's keep investing money to hire people to help us search. I'm planning to put all the company's profits into the manpower for finding Seraphina. We'll hire people in every city, every county, even every village in the future. We need to set up a dedicated missing persons company."
Elizabeth knew all this would take a lot of money.
Maddox and the others wanted to destroy Seraphina Enterprises to cut off Elizabeth's money supply. Elizabeth would never let that happen.
If only Elizabeth and Timothy searched, the chances of finding her would be even slimmer.
Their only option was to invest large amounts of money to hire people to help search.
"I'll handle setting up the missing persons company," Timothy said, then asked, "I saw the news today about those victims' families causing trouble at the company."
"Don't worry, I'm fine." Elizabeth said calmly.
As long as they could get Elmer to talk, the problem would be solved.
At that moment, Elmer, who Elizabeth was thinking about, left the police station and immediately returned to his temporary hotel suite to make a call.
Elmer anxiously dialed Hugo's number.
"When are you going to transfer the rest of the money to me?" Elmer asked while smoking.
Hugo on the other end obviously didn't expect Elmer to contact him at such a critical time. Hugo said coldly, "Don't contact me for a while. After this blows over, I'll give you the money."
"No need to wait that long. Transfer the money to me now." There was urgency in Elmer's tone. He had to leave Border Ridge City as soon as possible.
Hugo was silent for a while, weighing his options. Hugo didn't dare risk letting Elmer lose control.
"Fine, I'll transfer it tomorrow." Hugo finally gave in.
Elmer snorted coldly. "You better hurry, or I have ways to make things difficult for you too."
Hearing himself being threatened by some thug, Hugo's expression darkened.
Elmer absolutely couldn't be allowed to live!
In the hotel, Elmer had just hung up when he heard a knock at the door. A service person's voice came from outside, "Mr. Roach, your meal is here."
Elmer walked to the door in his slippers. The moment he opened the door, his expression changed dramatically.
He tried to close the door, but the other person pushed it open forcefully.
The man in a server's uniform held a mini spray bottle and sprayed it at Elmer's face several times.
Elmer felt dizzy and then lost consciousness.
When he woke up again, he found himself tied to a chair, unable to move.
The surroundings were unfamiliar and dark, with only a dim yellow light shining on his face.
He struggled a bit and found the ropes were tied very tight—there was no way to break free.
Several men walked into the room and started beating Elmer.
One of the men cursed, "You dare threaten our Mr. Reed? You're tired of living! Take him to the sea later."
Hearing what they said, Elmer thought of Hugo!
Elmer's face instantly twisted. Hugo, you bastard!
Just when Elmer felt like he was about to be beaten to death, someone rushed into the room and saved him.
---
Jacob walked into the room with a bright smile on his face. "Mr. Roach, how did you get beaten up?"
Elmer covered his face and tried hard to make out Jacob's features. Suddenly Elmer's pupils contracted. "You, you're from Seraphina Enterprises?"
Jacob nodded with a smile. "That's right. You've got a good memory. I came to find you about something. Who sent these guys who beat you up?"
