Chapter 299: Is Seraphina His Fiancée?
The bottle traced an arc through the air, flying toward Elizabeth.
The bodyguard knocked the water bottle to the ground.
Jacob quickly stepped forward, shielding Elizabeth behind him, while Robbie kept watch on the surroundings.
Elmer's action stirred up emotions in another victim's family.
The bodyguards held them back.
"Profiteer! Heartless! I curse you to die too, burned to death!"
Elizabeth turned to look at Robbie. She lowered her voice and said to him, "Look into the man who just threw the water bottle."
Robbie nodded in understanding.
Before long, the police arrived at the scene and took away the troublemakers.
Elizabeth took one more look at Elmer being led away by the police. Elmer had been shouting loudly just now, but she hadn't seen any expression of grief on his face.
"Notify the legal department, PR department, product department, and procurement department. Meeting in half an hour."
Elizabeth turned and walked into the building. Robbie acknowledged and took out his phone to notify these departments.

Freya returned home from the beauty salon, feeling irritated and depressed.
She sat on the sofa, took out her phone and searched for the latest news about Seraphina Enterprises.
When she saw the reports on Seraphina's shopping website about counterfeit and inferior products deceiving consumers, she felt even more troubled.
Freya looked up and saw the chrysanthemums in a vase on the table. Her expression immediately turned cold. "Beau, throw these flowers away," she called out.
Beau responded and walked over, carefully picking up the chrysanthemums and quietly leaving the living room.
Since losing Russell, Freya found fault with everything and her temper had become somewhat strange.
When Russell was alive, he would always cheer her up and stay by her side.
But now, this big house felt empty and especially cold.
Freya sighed and took out her phone, dialing Herschel's number.
The call connected quickly. Freya said gently, "Herschel, don't postpone your wedding with Juniper. Go ahead with the original plan."
Herschel on the other end was silent for a moment, then replied, "Okay, I'll do as you say."
Freya smiled. "Good boy, take care of yourself at work."
Herschel agreed.
After hanging up, Freya sat on the sofa in a daze.
Maeve, wearing workout clothes, had just finished her exercises. She walked slowly into the living room.
Seeing Freya's dazed expression, Maeve frowned. She walked over and sat beside Freya, gently patting the back of her hand.
"Freya, when you have time, you should go care about Elizabeth." Maeve's voice was serious.
Freya looked up at Maeve, her eyes showing a trace of helplessness.
There was always a barrier between Freya and Elizabeth that was hard to cross.
"Mom, she doesn't want to see me," Freya said coldly.
Maeve sighed and persuaded her gently but firmly, "No matter what Elizabeth's attitude is now, she's your daughter, you're her mother. The blood relationship between you is an unchangeable fact."
"Besides, Elizabeth is your and Russell's only daughter! Do you want Russell to rest uneasily? You need to sincerely interact with Elizabeth. Family members need to treat each other with sincerity."
Freya lowered her head, listening to Maeve's words, her eyes flickering slightly.
Freya knew Maeve was right. Elizabeth was her and Russell's only daughter.
Russell's biggest regret before he died was probably that Elizabeth didn't acknowledge them.
Maeve continued, "Freya, you're the mother. You should take the first step to repair the relationship. If one year doesn't work, try two years. If two years don't work, try three years."
Freya hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "I'll find time to go see her."
Although she still felt somewhat hesitant, she decided to follow Maeve's advice and try to repair her relationship with Elizabeth.
To let Russell rest in peace, she would try to take another step.
Maeve showed a relieved smile. "That's right, but when you look for Elizabeth, be mindful of boundaries."
Freya nodded. She had Beau instruct the kitchen to prepare health soup and desserts suitable for women.
Freya planned to send these to Seraphina Enterprises later.
"Mom, next week is Herschel and Juniper's wedding. I told them to go ahead as scheduled."
Maeve nodded. "Good, that's good."
Just then, Freya received a call from the lawyer.
Tristan Trevino on the other end said respectfully and seriously, "Freya, please come to the law firm tomorrow at 3 PM. It's about Mr. Nightingale's will."
Freya nodded. "Okay."
Tristan also called to contact Herschel and Elizabeth's assistant.
Elizabeth was in a meeting at the time.
Robbie asked Tristan to wait a moment. He handed the phone to Elizabeth, saying in a low voice, "Mr. Trevino is looking for you."
Elizabeth paused the discussion, took the phone, and said softly, "Hello, Mr. Trevino."
She picked up the coffee on the table and took a sip.
Tristan first greeted her politely, then said, "Ms. Penrose, please come to Twilight Law Firm tomorrow at 3 PM. We'll be reading Mr. Nightingale's will tomorrow."
Elizabeth's hand holding the coffee cup froze. She frowned. "Okay, thank you."
After hanging up, Elizabeth put down her coffee cup and said to the executives present, "Everyone, the meeting ends here. Please proceed according to what we just discussed. If there are any problems, contact me immediately."
Elizabeth stood up and left the conference room.
When she returned to her office, Robbie handed her a file about Elmer.
Elizabeth took the file and quickly flipped through it.
Robbie continued, "Elmer hasn't worked since graduating high school and has been living off his father. His father became bedridden three years ago. Elmer and his father don't have a good relationship. Neighbors have reported that Elmer is suspected of abusing his father."
Elizabeth nodded slightly.
She had just released information about the company's product quality issues, and immediately after, the fire happened. It was all too coincidental, clearly man-made.
Now they just needed evidence.
"Elmer might be able to provide some evidence," Elizabeth said thoughtfully.
Robbie nodded in agreement, but added with some concern, "But I don't know if Elmer will cooperate."
Elizabeth looked up at Robbie and said calmly, "After Elmer gets out, send someone to find him. The person we send can pretend to be one of Maddox's people."
She left it at that, and Robbie understood.
"Understood, I'll arrange it properly," Robbie responded.
At 4 PM, Elizabeth received the health soup and desserts sent by Freya.
Freya left the soup and desserts at the front desk and left. She obviously knew Elizabeth wouldn't see her.
Elizabeth frowned, wondering what Freya was up to now.
Elizabeth had Jacob take away the soup and desserts. "Mr. Grant, you and Robbie can have them."
Elizabeth wouldn't eat them, but there was no need to waste food either.
---
In a small village surrounded by mountains on all sides, about a hundred people lived.
The villagers here lived simple lives, and most had little education.
Almost all the houses in the village were still mud houses.
Some parts of the walls had already fallen off, looking dilapidated.
Seraphina carefully placed food in a bowl, watching several chickens come over to fight for the food. A small smile appeared on her little face.
"Ugly freak!"
Suddenly, a clump of mud hit Seraphina squarely on the head.
The mud slid down her hair, dirtying the gauze on her face.
"The ugly freak is even uglier now!"
Mason Runyon, a boy about ten years old, pointed at Seraphina and laughed. His nostrils were running with snot, which he sniffed up.
He picked up another piece of mud and threw it at Seraphina.
Seraphina shrank her neck in fear, her eyes full of unease and fear. She didn't cry, just silently continued feeding the chickens.
"Are you really an idiot?"
Seeing no reaction from Seraphina, Mason seemed somewhat dissatisfied. He continued throwing mud at her.
After throwing mud for a while and seeing she still had no reaction, he made a face, turned away in disgust, and went to find others to play with.
His family had gotten an ugly and stupid girl, and several kids in the village were making fun of him.
They said Seraphina was Mason's fiancée.
Mason wiped his snot. She was so ugly, he didn't want her.
Seraphina tilted her head and wiped the mud from her face.
The more she wiped, the more the gauze on her face became covered with mud.
She wasn't an ugly freak.
Elizabeth was beautiful, Seraphina was beautiful too, and Timothy was handsome too.
Seraphina wasn't an ugly freak.
