Chapter 295 Timid Appearance
"Ms. Coleman, why won't Mabel marry Alfonso?" Sophia frowned.
Maya said firmly, "Sophia, I won't let Mabel marry Alfonso."
Sophia's eyes grew slightly moist.
Sophia knew what Maya's words meant - she was giving her a glimmer of hope.
But Sophia knew that Alfonso would never love her.
Sophia struggled, took a deep breath, and said softly, "Ms. Coleman, I know you mean well, but you really can't force feelings. I hope Alfonso can find someone he truly loves, even if that person isn't me. Ms. Coleman, you should stop standing in their way."
Maya shook her head gently, her face showing determination. "Sophia, you're a good girl. That girl Mabel isn't right for our family. She's like a hothouse flower that needs to be pampered."
Maya held Sophia's hand. "I know you don't want to force Alfonso, but some things I have to do as his mother."
"Her parents are like leeches and vampires. And the humiliation her parents put me through, put you all through - I can never accept Mabel in this lifetime."
Sophia understood what was bothering Maya. There was no point in Sophia trying to persuade her further.
And Sophia didn't need to.
After Alfonso took Sophia to the hospital, he didn't go straight home. Instead, he had the driver go to a flower shop to buy a bouquet of roses.
He had just walked out of the flower shop holding the roses when he got a call from Border Ridge City.
"Mr. Robinson is currently being held at the station. Seems like he hurt someone. We won't know the details unless we dig deeper."
Alfonso bent down and got into the car, looking down at the flowers in his hand. After hearing what his subordinate from Border Ridge City said, he thought for a moment.
Alfonso was wondering whether he should secretly cause some trouble for Timothy.
Only if Timothy was busy over there would he not have time to come to Avalonia to take Mabel away.
For now, Alfonso was just thinking about it.
Unless he could be 100% sure Timothy wouldn't notice, Alfonso was smart enough not to act rashly.
Alfonso's gaze fell on the bright, fresh roses in his hand, his eyes showing a moment of complexity.
"Keep monitoring Timothy and Elizabeth's movements in Border Ridge City." Alfonso hung up after saying this.
Halfway through the drive, Alfonso's phone rang again. It was Maya calling.
"Alfonso, where are you? Can you come home for dinner tonight?" Maya knew Alfonso was still angry about her using her health to trick him into returning to Avalonia.
"Mom, I'm busy tonight. Another day I'll bring Mabel home to have dinner with you." Alfonso said warmly.
Maya couldn't tell from Alfonso's gentle tone whether he was still angry or not.
However, when she heard that Alfonso wanted to bring Mabel to have dinner with Maya, Maya instantly felt unhappy. "She doesn't need to come. I'll get indigestion."
Alfonso frowned slightly, his grip on the phone tightening.
Remembering that the person on the other end was the mother who had raised him with such hardship, Alfonso tried to keep his tone calm. "Mom, I have to hang up now."
He hung up and rubbed his temples.
Since Maya and Mabel couldn't get along, they just shouldn't meet.
Maya was so angry her head hurt, and the place where she had surgery after her previous fall also ached faintly.
Alfonso was completely willing to disown his own mother for Mabel's sake!
When Alfonso got home, Mabel was sitting on the sofa watching a short drama.
He held the flowers and directly blocked her phone screen with them.
Mabel looked up. "I was just getting to the good part."
"Flowers for you," Alfonso smiled. He sat down and pulled the petite Mabel into his arms. "Go change. We're going out."
Mabel put down her phone and touched the flowers with her fingers. "Don't want to. Too lazy."
Alfonso pinched her waist. Mabel felt ticklish and shifted her bottom, trying to avoid his pinching hand.
"You sure you don't want to go out? I happen to be free today. If you choose not to go out, we'll have some alone time at home."
He unbuttoned his collar, looking at Mabel with gentle eyes.
Even though he just had delicate features, there was an indescribable desire about him.
Mabel raised the flowers in her hand to block her view.
Since they came to Avalonia, they hadn't made love in a long time.
First, because Mabel was angry and wouldn't let him touch her.
Second, because Alfonso wanted to let her cool down.
The roses were ruthlessly pressed down by Alfonso's palm.
Mabel had just started to roll her eyes, and before the curse words could leave her mouth, she was silenced.
He kissed her dominantly.
She didn't know if he had just been provoked by something outside.
Mabel could still think about this.
When he finally released her lips.
Her voice was already a bit breathless. "Let's go out."
She should have just said yes to going out earlier.
Mabel's face was flushed red as his lips brushed against her neck.
She pushed against his chest. "Go out."
Alfonso raised an eyebrow and let her go. He picked up the roses that had fallen to the floor and put them on the table. "We'll go out in a bit."
He glanced at her.
If he didn't push forward, she would only retreat further.
His hand went to his belt buckle and pressed, unfastening it.
Mabel jumped off the sofa and ran away like a clever sparrow.
Alfonso was stunned for a moment, but seeing her timid appearance as she ran away, he couldn't help but chuckle.
Fine. If Mabel knew he wanted to cause trouble for Timothy, she would be angry.
Alfonso took out his phone and sent a message to his people in Border Ridge City, telling them not to investigate the specific reason why Timothy was arrested.
As long as Timothy and the others didn't come to Avalonia, Alfonso wouldn't interfere with their business.
Border Ridge City, two days later.
Elizabeth was able to leave the hospital. Even after she got home, she still hadn't received any news about finding Seraphina.
She kept her anxious feelings buried deep inside.
Where exactly had Rolf hidden Seraphina?
And she didn't know how Timothy was doing inside either.
Elizabeth spent another day with this anxious, uneasy feeling, then Joe called her.
"BOSS can come out tomorrow, but his freedom is temporarily restricted. He'll be under supervision for two years and can only stay in Border Ridge City."
Elizabeth breathed a sigh of relief. "What time tomorrow? I'll pick him up."
"Ten o'clock. I'll come pick you up tomorrow."
"Okay, I got it. Thank you, Joe."
Elizabeth hung up.
Although Timothy's freedom was restricted, at least he could come out.
She planned to prepare some things for Timothy and tried to keep her anxious feelings buried.
Elizabeth put down her company work, rubbed her forehead, picked up her phone and called Jacob.
"Mr. Grant, can you come over now?"
"Sure, I'll be right there."
Jacob lived very close to Elizabeth's house, just a few minutes away.
A few minutes later, Jacob was already at Elizabeth's door.
Before he could ring the doorbell, the door opened. Elizabeth walked out wearing casual clothes and a hat.
"Mr. Grant, could you drive me to Global Mall?"
Elizabeth planned to buy new clothes for Timothy, like a fresh start.
Jacob nodded.
At the men's clothing store, Jacob suppressed the bitterness in his heart and silently followed behind Elizabeth, carrying clothes.
Jacob was now in unrequited love with no result, working hard.
Elizabeth bought a lot of clothes for Timothy in one go - everything from inside to outside, including underwear, pajamas, shoes, socks - she bought it all.
After buying everything and returning home, Elizabeth turned to Jacob and said, "Mr. Grant, thank you for your hard work today."
Jacob said, "It's what I should do, Ms. Penrose. I'll be going now."
Elizabeth nodded. After Jacob left, she quickly took two sets of new clothes to wash.
When the washing machine beeped to indicate the clothes were done, she hung up the clothes she had prepared for Timothy.
Tomorrow, Timothy would be back.
