Chapter 235 Want to Run Abroad
Only the driver knew clearly which hospital they had gone to.
Russell actually had some doubts about the driver too, but he thought too well of human nature.
This driver had been driving for him for nearly ten years, and Russell had always treated him well.
However, facts proved that people's hearts are the hardest to read.
Russell called the bodyguard over and said in a low voice, "Keep the driver under control, but don't alert him."
The bodyguard nodded and acted quickly.
Russell slowly went upstairs. The most important thing for him now was to have a good talk with Freya.
He pushed the door open and entered the bedroom.
Freya was sitting at the vanity applying cream to her face.
Russell walked behind Freya and looked at her in the mirror, "Freya, can we talk?"
Freya stood up with a cold face, walked over to sit on the sofa, looking somewhat angry and wronged.
Russell followed and sat beside her, holding her hand, trying to calm her emotions.
"Such a big thing, and you all lied to me together. Did you want to embarrass me?" Freya questioned, her voice carrying a trace of anger and disappointment.
Russell sighed, his voice calm and gentle, "Freya, you can't act. If we told you in advance, things wouldn't have gone according to plan. And I didn't expect what happened today either."
He said softly, "Don't be angry. Aren't you happy that Elizabeth has been found?"
Freya lowered her eyes, her heart full of conflict. She was happy that Elizabeth had been found, but at the same time she felt excluded, with an indescribable sense of being wronged.
"I'm happy, yes, but you all kept it from me, and I feel really uncomfortable about it," Freya said with some dissatisfaction.
"I'm sorry," Russell apologized first, then tried to persuade her helplessly, "Your attitude tonight could easily hurt the relationship between you and your daughter."
Freya kept a cold face. Of course she was happy that Elizabeth had been found.
But Freya just couldn't get excited about it.
Her heart was full of conflict.
When Elizabeth disappeared at the party years ago, she was scolded by Russell's mother for years, and even Russell himself was angry and ignored her.
Freya and Russell's marriage almost ended. Later, the Stewart family got involved, and only then was the marriage saved.
Sometimes Freya felt wronged thinking about it. Elizabeth's disappearance wasn't intentional, so why did the whole family blame her? And she blamed herself so much that she developed depression.
Freya pulled her hand away and said coldly, "I know. I'll apologize to Elizabeth another day."
Russell saw that Freya's attitude had softened, and he smiled.
Seraphina sat in the back seat, rubbing her eyes, her voice soft, "Alfonso, I'm so sleepy."
Alfonso reached out to unbuckle his seatbelt, picked up Seraphina, and said gently, "Sleep for a while, Seraphina. We'll be home soon."
Joe was driving today. He saw in the rearview mirror that a black van had been following them.
He frowned, "That van behind us has been following us."
After hearing this, Alfonso looked back alertly and saw that the van was indeed following very closely.
Alfonso's eyes became sharp. He said to Joe in a low voice, "Speed up and see if that car will still follow."
Joe nodded, and the car immediately accelerated.
Sure enough, the black van also quickly sped up, following closely behind them.
Joe's face darkened, "There's definitely something wrong."
He quickly called to notify people.
The fish had taken the bait.
Alfonso looked down at Seraphina in his arms. Seraphina had fallen asleep. He thought coldly, "Great, Timothy is really something. Making me be a free babysitter for a day wasn't enough, he also set up a trap to draw out the snake."
Early this morning, Timothy felt that something might happen at the Nightingale family party today, so he called Alfonso.
Timothy "kindly" gave Alfonso an idea to make Mabel happy.
That was for Alfonso to bring Seraphina along to play together.
As a result, Alfonso spent the whole day taking care of Mabel and Seraphina.
Just then, several motorcycles suddenly rushed out at the intersection ahead.
Joe immediately braked, and the car stopped abruptly.
The black van behind them quickly accelerated and blocked their way back.
Those motorcycles also stopped, but didn't turn off their engines. They kept revving, and the engines kept roaring.
This sound was especially loud and harsh at night.
Seraphina was woken up. She opened her eyes sleepily and rubbed her ears, "Alfonso, it's so noisy."
Alfonso smiled gently and coaxed, "Their vehicle broke down. We're waiting for them to fix it."
Seraphina was very good, "Okay."
She sat up and stretched her little neck, wanting to see what vehicle had broken down.
Joe first confirmed that the motorcyclists showed no signs of immediate action. He glanced at Alfonso through the rearview mirror, and the two exchanged a look.
"Seraphina, shall we play a game?" Alfonso said in a relaxed tone.
"What game?" Seraphina's eyes lit up, clearly attracted.
"Close your eyes and count numbers. Count to one hundred, and I'll make a doll appear for you, okay?" Alfonso said with a smile.
Seraphina tilted her head, thought about it, closed her eyes, and started counting.
Just then, two of the motorcycles ahead suddenly turned off their engines, and the riders got off with wooden sticks in their hands.
"Don't open your eyes, okay?" Alfonso said.
"Okay!"
The motorcyclists started banging on the car windows. One of the leaders, with a fierce smile on his face, pounded on the window glass and shouted, "Get out, or we won't be nice!"
Seraphina was scared. She opened her eyes, but a large hand covered them.
Joe had already seen their own people's cars. Without hesitation, he immediately started the car and floored the gas pedal. The car shot forward instantly.
The motorcyclists were caught off guard. Several people were knocked to the ground, while others quickly jumped aside. The car broke through the encirclement.
By the time they wanted to continue chasing, it was too late. In the blink of an eye, they were surrounded, and they could faintly hear police sirens.
Alfonso produced a doll for Seraphina. Seraphina hugged the doll and said thank you softly.
Alfonso touched Seraphina's hair, "Seraphina, do you want a little brother or sister to play with you?"
"Yes!"
"Then tell Mabel to marry me soon, okay? Then Seraphina will have a little brother or sister to play with."
Joe, who was driving, fell silent.
Alfonso was really shameless.
When Elara received Emma's call for help, she knew the plan had failed.
Elara had originally wanted to kill two birds with one stone.
The original plan was to keep Timothy and Elizabeth busy dealing with what happened at the Nightingale family party, so they wouldn't have time to worry about Seraphina.
The plan had been going so smoothly!
If she could just kidnap Seraphina, she could get Jake's huge fortune!
Elara heard Emma's shrill screaming in her ear. She frowned, "Idiot, shut up. Where are you now?"
"At home." Emma didn't care anymore that Elara called her an idiot. Emma bit her nails, pacing back and forth anxiously.
Elara's face immediately darkened as she hung up the phone. Elara had to leave here first.
That idiot Emma, after something like this happened, she chose to call her from home!
Home was the most unsafe place.
So stupid!
Emma suddenly heard the phone being hung up. She couldn't believe it and kept calling back, but the other end kept showing no answer.
It was over. Elara had run away!
Emma also hurried to pack important items. She would leave Border Ridge City now and go abroad later.
Right, as long as she got out of the country, Timothy definitely couldn't catch her!
