Chapter 232 Swapping the Paternity Test
3:30 PM.
The Nightingale Mansion was beautifully decorated, filled with the scent of flowers.
The huge garden had been set up as a banquet venue, with colorful lights hanging all around.
Guests stood in small groups, talking in low voices. The atmosphere was lively yet appropriately restrained.
"I heard the Nightingale family found their long-lost daughter, that lady named Elizabeth," a noblewoman whispered to her friend beside her.
"Yes, it's really surprising. She's now the chairman of the Sherman Group," another noblewoman nodded in agreement.
Her life is so successful.
Elizabeth and Timothy arrived at The Nightingale Mansion early, but they separated once they got there.
Russell and Freya stood at the entrance greeting guests, smiles on their faces.
Elizabeth also stood beside Freya.
Elizabeth wore a light blue gown today, looking elegant and proper.
Manuel also came to The Nightingale Mansion, dressed in a black suit with a serious expression.
He walked up to Freya and Russell, nodding slightly, "Congratulations on finding your long-lost daughter."
Russell and Freya smiled in response, "Thank you, please come in."
Manuel glanced at Elizabeth, nodding slightly as a greeting, then walked straight into the banquet area with no extra expression on his face.
Freya checked the time, feeling a bit uneasy.
Herschel had gone to the hospital to get the paternity test reports and hadn't returned yet. She wanted to call and check on the situation.
She turned to Russell and said quietly, "Honey, I need to step away for a moment."
Russell nodded, saying gently, "Okay, Elizabeth and I will be fine here. You go rest a bit."
Timothy stood not far away talking with other people, his gaze occasionally falling on Elizabeth.
Manuel walked over just as the guest Timothy had been talking to left.
Manuel said coldly, "I've already found schools abroad for Jane and Tommy. I'll send them overseas next week."
Timothy replied flatly, "Okay."
The father and son's relationship had already soured.
Manuel got angry just looking at Timothy. After saying this, Manuel left.
On the other side, Freya went to the study and took out her phone to call Herschel.
When the call connected, Freya asked urgently, "Herschel, have you gotten to the hospital? Did you get the reports?"
Herschel's voice came through the phone, "Freya, I've already gotten the reports from both hospitals. Don't worry, I'm on my way back."
Herschel was only responsible for picking up the paternity test reports.
He hadn't opened them to look, but felt something was odd. Why were they doing paternity tests again?
But despite his confusion, he didn't ask.
Right after Herschel finished his call with Freya, he saw a message from Emma.
[Herschel, where are you now? Can you help me deliver a gift to Elizabeth? I'm waiting for you outside The Nightingale Mansion]
Herschel checked the time and replied, [Wait about ten minutes for me]
Emma saw Herschel's reply and smiled, her lips curving up. She sat in her car, looking outside.
"So lively."
Her smile carried eager schadenfreude.
She watched the expensive cars continuously entering the Nightingale family estate, her eyes full of jealousy.
The Sutter family used to be one of the top families in Silverlight City.
It's all Elizabeth's fault! All Timothy's fault!
Emma opened the car door and got out to wait for Herschel.
After waiting about ten minutes, Herschel's car arrived at The Nightingale Mansion.
He saw Emma standing by the roadside and told the driver, "Stop the car."
Emma quickly walked over, opened the car door, and got in.
She smiled and handed the gift box to Herschel, "Herschel, I know today is a happy day for godmother and them. I thought I'd send Elizabeth a gift. Could you please give it to her for me?"
Herschel reached out to take the gift box, glancing at Emma, "You can go in and give her the gift yourself."
Emma said quietly, "I wanted to give it to Ms. Penrose in person, but as you probably know, we don't get along."
Herschel nodded understandingly, "Alright, I'll give it to her for you."
Emma smiled, "Thank you, Herschel."
Her gaze quickly fell on the two hospital document envelopes on the table.
"I'll get out now."
Emma was about to open the car door but suddenly stopped.
She covered her chest with one hand, looking a bit stunned.
Herschel noticed Emma's unusual behavior, "Emma?"
Emma's face flushed red with embarrassment, hesitating, "Herschel, lower the partition and step out of the car for a moment."
Herschel saw that the area she was covering was awkward.
He looked away, lowered the partition, and got out of the car.
Emma's lips curved up with an excited smile.
Emma reached over and opened the two hospital document envelopes on the table. Fortunately, they had string closures that could be opened.
She took out the test results inside and put them in her bag, then quickly took out two prepared test results from her bag and put them in the envelopes.
Actually, she was curious how Elara knew Freya had done the paternity tests at these two hospitals.
Emma straightened her dress, opened the car door and got out. She seemed embarrassed from the chest incident, her ears still red, "Herschel, I'm leaving now."
Emma secretly regretted that she really wanted to go into The Nightingale Mansion to watch the show, but she had no excuse.
Herschel returned to The Nightingale Mansion and went to find Freya. He gave her the gift box and the two documents, "Freya, Emma asked me to bring a gift for Elizabeth."
Freya told him to put the gift box on the table and reached out to take the two hospital document envelopes.
Herschel knew when to give privacy. He needed to leave now, "Freya, I'll go out first."
"Okay, go get ready. We'll need your help with the opening dance later," Freya said gently.
Outside the gates of The Nightingale Mansion.
Calista stood there with a trace of anxiety and unease on her face.
She looked at the security guard in front of her and said urgently, "I'm here to see Elizabeth, the chairman of the Sherman Group. I'm her mother. I have something very urgent to discuss with her."
The security guard frowned, looking at the somewhat disheveled Calista in front of him. He was skeptical but still said, "Please wait a moment, I'll go ask for permission."
At that moment, inside The Nightingale Mansion's banquet hall, the atmosphere was lively.
Timothy walked up to Elizabeth with a wine glass, smiled and clinked glasses with her, lowering his voice, "Calista is here."
Elizabeth maintained a proper smile on her face and responded lightly, "Okay."
Russell heard the report from the butler Beau and frowned. Russell was no stranger to Calista - she was in the investigation materials from before.
Russell walked to Elizabeth's side, glanced at Timothy, and said to Elizabeth, "Elizabeth, Calista is here. If you want to see her, we can arrange it in the reception room."
Elizabeth nodded slightly, signaling Beau to take Calista to the reception room, "Dad, I'll go see her. There's still time."
In the reception room.
Calista sat on the sofa, deliberately pretending to be nervous and uneasy.
She looked around at the exquisite decorations, feeling very jealous inside. So rich!
When she saw Elizabeth walk in wearing an expensive gown, thinking of her own disheveled and down-and-out appearance, she tried hard not to let her resentful expression show.
Elizabeth walked over and sat on the sofa. She first looked Calista over, then asked coolly, "Calista, what do you want to see me about?"
