Chapter 203 She Pushed Me
"Auntie, don't cry. I'll give you my candy." A soft, sweet child's voice reached her ears.
Mabel immediately stopped crying. She looked down at Seraphina standing in front of her, staring at her with big eyes.
Mabel's heart melted. She bent down and picked up the adorable Seraphina.
She really wanted to take her home.
Elizabeth's Seraphina was just too cute.
"Seraphina is so sweet. I won't eat it, you keep it for yourself."
"Seraphina has more. This one's for you, Auntie."
Unable to refuse Seraphina's kindness, Mabel happily accepted the candy.
When Elizabeth came downstairs with Timothy after her shower, she saw Mabel and Seraphina playing together on the sofa.
Like two little kids.
Mabel immediately sat up straight when she saw Timothy.
Ever since Elizabeth disappeared five years ago, she'd been scared of seeing Timothy's cold face.
Seraphina had been playing with her body all twisted, but when she saw Mabel sit up straight, she also sat up with her chest out.
Elizabeth helplessly poked Timothy's waist, hinting that he should stop scaring Mabel.
Timothy understood what Elizabeth meant. He was helpless too—it was Mabel who acted like a mouse seeing a cat whenever she saw him. What could he do about it?
He grabbed Elizabeth's poking hand and leaned close to her, saying in a low voice, "Stop poking."
Elizabeth's red lips curved up.
Mabel groaned inwardly. They were showing off their love again.
After dinner.
Elizabeth asked Mabel to stay the night so they could have a good chat.
Mabel was about to happily agree, but when she caught sight of Timothy's smile, she instinctively refused quickly, "Elizabeth, I've booked a hotel. I'll be staying in Border Ridge City for a while. We can talk when you're free."
Elizabeth didn't push it. "Okay."
Mabel grumbled and cursed Timothy in her mind.
She had wanted to have a good chat with Elizabeth tonight.
After digesting their food, Timothy took Seraphina to take a bath.
Mabel made a face at Timothy's back. Elizabeth found it funny but pretended not to see.
With Timothy out of the living room, Mabel relaxed and slouched against the sofa.
"By the way, Elizabeth, did you know? Armando and Brynn are getting married."
Although Mabel wasn't in Silverlight City, she had a few good friends there, so naturally she knew what was happening in Silverlight City.
"Brynn? You mean the Potts family whose main business is tea?" Elizabeth asked lazily, narrowing her eyes.
Elizabeth hadn't forgotten how Armando and Jake had conspired to set her and Timothy up.
She just hadn't had time to deal with Armando yet.
"Yes, Brynn from the Potts family. I don't know what she's thinking, actually liking Armando. The Johnson family has already fallen. It must be true love."
Elizabeth and Mabel glossed over this topic lightly.
Mabel checked the time. It was already 8 PM. She planned to head back to the hotel to rest.
Elizabeth held her back. "Wait, I'll have Mr. Robinson take you to the hotel."
Hearing this, Mabel's whole face scrunched up. "That's not necessary, is it?"
Elizabeth was worried. Mabel hadn't brought any bodyguards this time. "Listen to me. I'll go upstairs and get him."
Elizabeth hurried to Seraphina's bedroom to ask Timothy to take Mabel to the hotel.
Timothy gently touched Elizabeth's head, his tone calm yet meaningful. "Don't worry. There's already a car waiting for her outside the gate."
Hearing Timothy say this, Elizabeth felt relieved. Since Timothy had already arranged a car, there was no problem.
Elizabeth rushed back downstairs.
She told Mabel that there was already a car waiting outside the gate.
Both Mabel and Elizabeth thought Timothy had arranged a driver.
"Elizabeth, I'm leaving now. Good night."
"Good night."
Mabel walked to the gate and indeed saw a car parked there.
The driver opened the car door. She thanked him and got right in.
"What are you doing here?" Mabel looked at Alfonso in surprise—familiar yet strange.
She had come to Border Ridge City, and he had followed her here!
And he was waiting for her outside Timothy's house.
Alfonso's eyes were deep. He looked at Mabel. "I'll take you to the hotel."
The moment Mabel's eyes met his, she quickly looked away.
She turned her head, wanting to get out of the car, but Alfonso quickly reached out, held her down firmly, and closed the car door.
Mabel tried to struggle.
Unfortunately, Alfonso was too strong for her to break free. She could only glare at him angrily.
They rode in silence.
Mabel didn't want to speak, and Alfonso had no way to deal with her.
He took her to the hotel and also booked a room there.
After her shower, Mabel lay in bed tossing and turning, feeling pretty miserable.
Alfonso had explained that back then, her parents Jerald and Arabella had threatened him with his mother Maya Coleman, so he had chosen to leave. She understood that.
But what she couldn't understand was something else.
Mabel grabbed a pillow and covered herself with it, not wanting to keep remembering the past.
Robbie stood before Elizabeth, reporting today's schedule. He also reported another matter. "Mr. Nightingale's assistant called this morning. He wants to meet to discuss cooperation."
Elizabeth focused on flipping through yesterday's meeting materials. Without looking up, she said directly, "The Sherman Group has decided not to cooperate with the Nightingale Group."
Her tone was firm and decisive.
Though puzzled, Robbie went out to call the Nightingale Group back.
Never mind how surprised Herschel was to hear that Elizabeth had refused the cooperation.
On Elizabeth's end, she was busy until noon. She planned to take some time at lunch to go out to eat with Mabel.
Mabel happened to be at home playing with Seraphina. When she got the call, she immediately agreed to take Seraphina out to eat together.
Timothy was working in his study. Since he was also busy, he didn't go with them at noon, but he arranged for Joe to go with them.
ElizaTimo Restaurant was a very famous restaurant in Border Ridge City.
The restaurant's atmosphere was elegant and luxurious.
As soon as Elizabeth and the others walked into the restaurant, they heard comfortable piano music.
High ceilings and exquisite decorations—everything showed refinement.
Their reserved seats were by the floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking the harbor in the distance.
Elizabeth wasn't familiar with Border Ridge City's restaurants. After all, she wasn't a native of Border Ridge City.
This time, Joe was in charge of booking the restaurant.
They ordered their food.
Elizabeth propped her chin on her hand and joked, "ElizaTimo sounds like a combination of mine and Mr. Robinson's names."
Mabel blinked. "Elizabeth, you didn't know? This is Mr. Robinson's property. He changed the name five years ago."
Elizabeth was very confused.
She really didn't know.
Seraphina looked curiously at the scenery outside the window, staring intently.
The waiter quickly brought their orders.
Elizabeth tried it. The taste was great.
Seraphina could eat by herself. Elizabeth didn't need to feed her, only occasionally wiping Seraphina's mouth with a napkin.
When they were halfway through their meal.
Mabel saw Emma walking in arm-in-arm with Freya. After several years, Emma hadn't changed much.
Mabel also saw two children, probably Tommy and Jane.
Mabel cursed inwardly. What bad luck.
Emma didn't know this restaurant was Timothy's property, but seeing the name ElizaTimo made her dislike it.
If Freya and Russell hadn't booked this restaurant, Emma wouldn't have set foot in here.
Emma didn't see Elizabeth and the others.
After the main course, there would be desserts.
When Seraphina was eating a small pastry and got crumbs on her hands, she said in a sweet childlike voice, "Mommy, I need to wash my hands."
Mabel put down her fork and smiled. "Elizabeth, I'll take Seraphina to wash her hands."
"Go ahead." Elizabeth nodded.
Mabel stood up, lifted Seraphina down from her chair, and took her little hand to go to the restroom.
At the restroom, Mabel turned on the faucet and Seraphina washed her hands herself.
"Mabel, my hands are all clean now." Seraphina smiled so much her eyes curved into crescents. Mabel smiled along with her.
Just then, Jane walked in from outside wearing a red dress.
Jane recognized Seraphina at first glance.
That day at the children's playground, Timothy had been holding Seraphina!
When Mabel turned to get paper towels, she suddenly heard something fall to the ground. Mabel's heart jumped. She turned around to see Seraphina sitting on the ground looking confused.
Mabel nervously and hurriedly went over to pick up Seraphina. "Seraphina."
Seraphina came to her senses, tears welling in her eyes. She wanted to cry but held it in. "Mabel, it hurts. She pushed me."
Seraphina opened her palm. Her palm was scraped.
Her bottom hurt too.
Mabel looked sharply at Jane.
