Chapter 187 Methods Are Not Simple
Elizabeth came out of Golden Palace Restaurant and saw Timothy standing by the car door.
The light fell on his face.
The corners of his lips curved up, holding back a smile. "Elizabeth, I'm flying to Imperial City tomorrow morning to bring Seraphina home."
Elizabeth's pupils contracted, her eyes widening instantly.
Timothy walked up to her, pinched her ear and tugged it gently, calling out softly, "Elizabeth, are you stunned?"
Elizabeth swallowed. "Say that again?"
"I'm going to Imperial City tomorrow to bring our daughter home." Timothy's eyes reddened slightly - others might not understand this feeling of guilt.
The sudden surprise made Elizabeth feel like she was dreaming.
She had been living in Jake's nightmare for so many years.
Elizabeth reached out and pinched her own arm.
Her whole face twisted up.
It hurt - she wasn't dreaming.
Timothy reached out and hugged Elizabeth, his large hand cradling the back of her head, his kiss landing on her hair.
Joe didn't want to interrupt, but they were standing outside the restaurant after all, with people coming and going. He cleared his throat lightly. "Mr. Robinson, should we move to another place?"
Elizabeth buried her face in Timothy's chest, finally remembering where they were standing. She said in a muffled voice, "Let's go."
The car pulled into the villa's garage.
Joe and the driver got out and left.
The garage lights were on, the glow filtering faintly through the car windows into the interior.
Elizabeth, whose eyes were already red from crying, nestled in Timothy's arms without moving.
Jake was dead. He was finally dead.
Timothy waited for her emotions to settle.
Several buttons on his shirt had been pulled open by her.
His chest revealed surgical scars.
Elizabeth noticed them. She pulled open his shirt, her fingers touching several scars on his body.
"Elizabeth," Timothy stroked her hair. Since she had already seen them, there were some things he needed to tell her first. "This life of mine may not be able to walk with you to the end. If we can have twenty years together, that would already be a blessing from God."
His body had undergone organ transplants because of that explosion. His lifespan wouldn't be long.
Elizabeth understood what Timothy meant, and once she understood, tears streamed down her face.
Timothy sighed. "Be good, stop crying."
Life and death are fate.
The two were intimately close.
Elizabeth sobbed while reverently touching his scars.
She cursed Jake over and over.
Timothy had always respected her, always understood her, which made Elizabeth understand what true love really was.
She wanted him to stay with her for a long, long time.
"Timothy, I miss you."
She looked up, gazing at his adoring eyes, slowly breaking into a smile.
"I miss you so, so much." She murmured softly.
No matter how many years they could be together, they would cherish each other.
She hugged him, rubbing her head against him.
Skin against skin, Elizabeth closed her eyes.
The temperature in the car was getting high.
Elizabeth's body was sweating.
Timothy's hot palm rested on her back.
The two held each other tightly.
She sat in Timothy's lap.
Timothy brushed aside her hair and kissed her forehead.
He wrapped her in his jacket, opened the car door, and carried her out.
Elizabeth nestled in Timothy's arms tonight until her eyelids grew heavy, then reluctantly closed them.
"Tomorrow, I'll go with you to pick up Seraphina."
"Okay, sleep now."
Just as Elizabeth was about to fall asleep in a daze, Timothy's phone rang.
It was a call from Max.
"Mr. Robinson, Ms. Penrose doesn't dare to sleep."
"Wait, video call."
Timothy hung up. He leaned close to Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, Seraphina doesn't dare to sleep."
At the mention of Seraphina, Elizabeth instantly woke up. She propped herself up on her arms, her hair falling down, covering her body.
Elizabeth supported herself halfway up. "I'll video call Seraphina."
Timothy got out of bed to get a jacket and walked back to the bedside.
He bent down to help her put on the jacket before making the video call.
Seraphina's anxious little heart finally relaxed the moment she saw Elizabeth.
Little Seraphina sighed with relief like an adult, looking very happy.
"Mommy, where did Jake go?"
"Jake went to a faraway place. Tomorrow I'll come get Seraphina. Seraphina be good and go to sleep, okay?"
Although Timothy wanted to see Seraphina, it was very late now.
While Elizabeth was on the video call, he deliberately stood by the bed, away from the camera.
Elizabeth looked up at Timothy, and they smiled at each other.
Seraphina blinked, her eyes slightly red. "When will Jake come back?"
Jake had worked hard to raise Seraphina for four years. If you asked who Seraphina was closest to, it would probably be Jake.
Elizabeth blinked her stinging eyes. "When Seraphina grows up, Jake will come back."
Seraphina nodded, sniffling. Though she wanted to cry, she was very well-behaved. "Like daddy - I can see daddy when I grow up."
Elizabeth talked with Seraphina.
Seraphina's voice gradually became softer, her eyelids fighting, until she couldn't hold on anymore and fell asleep in a daze.
Timothy took the phone from her hand and ended the video call.
He held her, his voice slightly hoarse. "You sleep too. We'll go pick up Seraphina tomorrow."
"Mr. Robinson, are you about to cry?"
"No."
Elizabeth didn't call him out on it.
It was the weekend. Emma came to the luxury stores in the mall to buy clothes for Freya.
Freya usually wore custom-made clothes. Emma bought clothes to show her thoughtfulness.
"Ms. Sutter, Mr. Robinson trampled on your feelings. Don't you want revenge? I can help you."
Emma had been selecting a dress when a middle-aged woman named Elara stood beside her and suddenly said this.
She frowned and turned to look at her with confusion. "Who are you? Why would I want revenge on Timothy?"
Emma looked at her warily.
She couldn't easily trust a stranger. "Matters of the heart can't be forced in the first place."
Elara smiled strangely. "Is that so? Ms. Sutter, those words can only fool yourself. This is my phone number. Contact me if you need anything. Oh, and to show my sincerity, I can tell you who my boss is - he's from the Sherman family."
Emma's mind immediately thought of Jake.
Elara smiled and left.
There's a terrifying type of person in this world with a certain personality: if they can't have something, they want to destroy it with their own hands.
Emma thoughtfully put the card with the phone number into her bag.
She was always cautious in her actions and wouldn't casually cooperate with others.
Emma bought a dress for Freya. She checked the time and called a flower shop.
Freya was Emma's lifeline. Emma would hold on tight and never let go.
Emma ordered blue roses from the flower shop. She drove to pick up the flowers and went straight to the hospital.
"Godmother, I'm here." Emma walked playfully into the hospital room. She brought out the flowers she'd been hiding behind her back. "Blue roses for my dear godmother."
Seeing the flowers, Freya smiled gently. "You've been busy preparing for your art exhibition lately, haven't you?"
"No matter how busy I am, nothing is more important than godmother." Emma blinked. She had just set down the flowers when Russell walked in from outside.
"Emma's here."
"Godfather."
Freya teased, "Emma knows to buy me flowers. You've only given me flowers twice in your whole life."
Russell's face was serious. "I'll send some tomorrow."
Emma covered her mouth and laughed.
Russell sat down and noticed a fruit basket with an elegant card on top. The card had a blessing written on it, signed by Elizabeth.
He asked, "From the Sherman family?"
Freya still had a smile on her lips. She nodded. "Mrs. Sherman had Eugene deliver it."
Emma quickly lowered her eyes, displeasure flashing through them.
Russell didn't like talking about people behind their backs, especially gossiping about a young woman. He only reminded his Freya, "Jake's wife just took over the company and fired a veteran employee. She's someone who acts decisively and ruthlessly."
This wasn't a secret, as Brice had specifically helped spread the word about Elizabeth.
Freya and Russell had been married for so many years.
She instantly understood what Russell was trying to say.
Freya liked dealing with simple people, and Elizabeth's methods weren't exactly simple.
Emma raised her eyebrows, a slight smile curving her lips.
Even God was on her side.
