Chapter 182 What Did You Say?
Although Russell felt like he'd seen Elizabeth somewhere before, he just muttered about it and let it go.
His mind was completely focused on Freya right now.
Russell asked Emma in confusion, "How come you guys went to the party tonight?"
Freya hadn't even told him about this.
Freya never liked going to parties.
Emma's eyes were red, "I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I was the one who asked godmother to go to this party."
Russell saw how anxious and uneasy Emma looked, so he couldn't really blame her. "At least nothing serious happened this time. Emma, don't blame yourself. You must be tired today too, go back and get some rest."
"I want to stay here with godmother."
"I'll be here, don't worry. You go back."
With Russell there, it wasn't convenient for Emma to stay.
Russell had Herschel take Emma back.
"Okay, I'll take Emma back first."
Herschel left the hospital with Emma. Once Emma got in the car, she covered her eyes and cried.
Herschel helplessly handed her tissues to wipe her tears. "Stop crying. Russell and Freya won't blame you."
Who could have known Freya would suddenly have an episode?
"If I hadn't wanted to see Elizabeth, godmother wouldn't have..." Emma cried sadly, her words coming out in broken pieces. "It's all my fault."
To distract her and stop her crying, Herschel changed the subject. "You know Mrs. Sherman?"
He'd seen the news about The Sherman Group's sudden change of chairman. When he saw Elizabeth at the hospital tonight, he naturally recognized who she was.
What Herschel couldn't figure out was why The Sherman Group would dare let Elizabeth take over managing the company.
Hearing Herschel's question, Emma's body stiffened slightly. She looked out the window and said sadly, "Of course I know her."
Emma turned to look at Herschel with a bitter smile. "Timothy put me in a mental hospital years ago because of a woman."
Herschel knew about this. He was surprised. "That woman was the current Mrs. Sherman?"
What was wrong with Timothy and Jake?
Herschel really couldn't understand - was this Elizabeth really that charming?
Elizabeth's image wasn't very good in Herschel's mind.
Elizabeth must be pretty skilled at manipulation.
"Herschel, you can't tell godmother about this," Emma said. "I don't want godmother to worry about me."
"Okay."
Emma finally stopped crying, and Herschel breathed a sigh of relief.
"Wipe your tears."
"Thank you." Emma smiled with her red, swollen eyes.
Herschel really felt Emma deserved better.
That man Timothy didn't acknowledge her, didn't acknowledge Tommy and Jane - that was one thing. But the man even sent Emma to that kind of place, which showed how ruthless he was.
"Just live your own life from now on."
"Stop thinking about that man Timothy."
Emma smiled. "I know."
The Robinson Mansion.
Joe brought Mindy to The Robinson Mansion.
Zander went upstairs to get Cecilia.
Cecilia hadn't been having an easy time these past few years either. Because Beatrix kept coming to Cecilia to cry and complain, a few years ago Cecilia was still in the mood to take care of herself, maintaining herself to look like a woman in her forties.
Now Cecilia had two more wrinkles on her forehead.
Cecilia followed Zander downstairs. "Zander, you're saying Joe brought Mindy here unconscious?"
"Yes."
Zander didn't know exactly what had happened.
Joe specifically asked to see Cecilia, so something must have happened on Timothy's end.
Cecilia felt a bit uneasy as she walked out of the elevator with a smile.
Cecilia walked into the living room and saw Mindy lying on the sofa. "Joe, what happened?"
Joe answered politely and respectfully, "Mindy offended Mr. Robinson. One of her legs has been crippled, but the other leg is still fine. Cecilia, please have a good talk with Mindy about life principles."
Cecilia's face fell immediately.
What did he mean one leg was crippled?
Joe said it so casually.
After saying his piece, Joe quickly left The Robinson Mansion.
Cecilia quickly had Zander call the family doctor.
She'd only know what exactly happened when Mindy woke up.
Cecilia was also holding back anger - anger at Timothy. This was going too far.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth left the hospital. She'd been drinking tonight, and though she wasn't drunk yet, her head felt a bit dizzy.
She got in the car and leaned back against the seat with her eyes closed to rest.
"Mrs. Sherman, there's a car following us." The driver looked in the rearview mirror and confirmed again that the car behind was following them.
Robbie turned to look back. He had a good memory and recognized it as the car Timothy had been in tonight. "It's Mr. Robinson's car."
The car was quiet for a moment.
Elizabeth opened her eyes. She rubbed her tired eyes. Some things she shouldn't keep avoiding.
"Pull over," Elizabeth said softly.
She opened the door and got out, telling Robbie and the others to wait in the car.
The car behind slowly stopped as well.
The back door opened and Timothy got out.
Their eyes met.
Timothy turned and bent down, reaching into the car to get a coat. He put the coat over his arm and walked toward Elizabeth.
He stood in front of Elizabeth, about to drape the coat over her shoulders.
"No need, thank you," Elizabeth looked up with a smile. "Timothy, we haven't seen each other in years, and a lot of things have changed."
"I'm Mrs. Sherman now. You and I are in the past."
Her words were direct and hurtful.
Timothy suddenly grabbed Elizabeth's chin, his other hand wrapping around her waist, his voice threatening. "What did you say?"
