Chapter 178 Photo
The Sherman Group released news this morning that the new chairman is Elizabeth.
Joe turned the tablet toward Timothy.
"Tomorrow night the Sherman family is hosting a banquet at the Hilton Hotel. This is the invitation from the Sherman family."
"Leave the invitation and go out first."
Timothy controlled his fierce emotions. His anger was directed at himself, not at Elizabeth.
Jake!
Timothy curled his lips into a cold smile.

The Nightingale family also received an invitation. The Nightingale family generally didn't attend banquets, but hosts would politely send them invitations anyway.
Freya was actually quite curious about Elizabeth, who had married into the Sherman family. She knew about Jake and Annie's situation.
She hadn't expected that after all these years, Jake had finally let go of Annie and married Elizabeth.
Although she was curious about Elizabeth, she didn't want to attend the banquet.
Emma was sitting right beside Freya. Emma had also seen the Sherman family's invitation and the news about The Sherman Group this morning.
Emma didn't know whether to laugh or be jealous.
What she could laugh about was that Timothy had searched for Elizabeth for so many years, only to have her end up marrying Jake, Timothy's sworn enemy.
What made Emma jealous was that Elizabeth had suddenly risen to become chairman of The Sherman Group.
Elizabeth was really lucky.
"Godmother, are you going to the Sherman family's banquet tomorrow night?" Emma stopped flipping through the photo album and turned her head to ask. "If you go, can you take me with you?"
"You want to go?"
"I know Elizabeth, the woman who married into the Sherman family. I want to go see her."
"I see. If you want to go, we'll go tomorrow night."
"You're so good to me, godmother."
Emma smiled and continued flipping through the album.
This old photo album was one Freya had brought from the Stewart family to the Nightingale family when she got married.
Most of the photos in the album were of Freya from childhood to adulthood.
"Godmother, you've been beautiful since you were little."
As Emma flipped through the album and commented, she suddenly stopped at one photo.
It was an old black and white photo that looked quite aged. The woman was wearing a military uniform, and the key point was that the woman in the photo looked sixty to seventy percent like Elizabeth.
This wasn't a photo of Freya.
Looking at the date noted on the photo, it seemed more likely to be a picture of Freya's mother.
Emma didn't dare ask Freya who was in the photo.
Freya's daughter had gone missing at age two. Could it be...
Emma rejected this guess. It absolutely couldn't be true.
She casually continued flipping through the photos, then said, "Godmother, can I take this album back tonight to look at slowly?"
"Sure, I didn't expect you to be interested in old photos."
"I study painting, so sometimes I just like these things with a sense of history. They can inspire me."

The Sherman Group.
With a new chairman suddenly appointed, major shareholders called one after another to inquire about the situation.
The chairman position required someone with experience.
Who was Elizabeth?
The major shareholders, not getting satisfactory answers on the phone, came angrily to The Sherman Group.
"Arrange for them to go to the conference room."
Elizabeth told Robbie.
She had actually planned to call a shareholders' meeting in a few days anyway. Since they came today in such a hurry, she decided to move the meeting up.
Elizabeth went to the conference room.
The meeting lasted over two hours.
The shareholders who had originally raised various questions about Elizabeth gradually fell silent.
When the meeting room door opened again, Elizabeth personally escorted the shareholders downstairs and watched them get in their cars.
Robbie Ellis stood behind Elizabeth, glancing at her. She had just debated the shareholders alone—it was quite impressive.
When Elizabeth returned to her office, she leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes to rest.
Robbie held his tablet and pulled up an email with a document. "Chairwoman Penrose, there's an acquisition plan here that's quite urgent."
Elizabeth opened her eyes. "Okay, just put it on the desk."
It was her first day in office and there was a lot to do. She could only handle the urgent matters first.
By the time she returned from The Sherman Group to The Sherman Mansion, it was already 2 AM.
"Elizabeth, you're back. Are you hungry?" Calliope rubbed her eyes. She had been waiting in the living room for Elizabeth to get off work.
After all, today was Elizabeth's first day in office. Calliope had been sitting here worrying and waiting, wanting to give Elizabeth a sense of security.
Elizabeth smiled. "Mrs. Sherman, I've eaten. It's so late, you should go to sleep."
"Okay, I am pretty tired. You should rest early too."
Calliope yawned, looking quite sleepy.
Elizabeth returned to her bedroom. She looked at her phone and saw Jake had sent some pointless questions, which she simply ignored.
She used her phone's calendar to note down the time until her video call with Seraphina, then went to take a shower.

Meanwhile, on the other side, the lights were still on late at night in the villa where Emma lived.
She had removed the photo of the woman in military uniform from the album. The more she looked at it, the more the woman's features resembled Elizabeth's.
She held the photo between two fingers and placed it in water.
Soon the water soaked through the photograph.
The woman's face gradually blurred.
