Chapter 365 Short Lifespan of Two or Three Months
Time seemed to pass very slowly.
Eldridge came out of the emergency room and removed his mask. The elderly Eldridge looked tired. "Timothy is out of immediate danger for now, but..."
Eldridge looked at Elizabeth, who was trying hard to stay calm, and said, "Mrs. Robinson, you need to be mentally prepared. His physical condition is already very poor. He probably has about two or three months left."
Two or three months.
Elizabeth's mind went blank, as if she couldn't hear anything. She blinked her slightly red eyes and asked calmly, "Is there really no other way?"
When Seraphina came over holding Brandon, she happened to hear Eldridge's words.
Her face immediately turned pale, and she stopped in her tracks.
Brandon also sensed Seraphina's unease. He wrapped his arms around Seraphina's neck without saying anything.
Elizabeth turned and saw Seraphina and Brandon, forcing a smile. "Seraphina, take Brandon to rest first. I need to talk to Dr. Bynum."
Tears welled up in Seraphina's eyes, but she knew she couldn't cry right now.
She nodded and left with Brandon.
After Seraphina and the others left, Elizabeth turned back to ask Eldridge, "Is there really no way?"
Eldridge sighed. "The current situation is really not good. We've done everything we can."
Elizabeth took a deep breath and wiped away tears that had fallen without her noticing. She steadied her emotions. "I understand. Thank you."
After Eldridge left, Elizabeth stood there for a while before slowly walking to the hospital room.
She changed into sterile clothes and entered the room.
Timothy lay unconscious on the hospital bed.
The next day at noon.
It was still pouring rain in Border Ridge City.
Elizabeth had lunch with Seraphina and Brandon.
All three of them were distracted during the meal. Even Brandon, who usually loved eating, hung his head low.
Elizabeth put down her utensils.
Seeing Elizabeth put down her utensils, Seraphina also stopped eating.
Brandon saw that Seraphina had stopped eating, so he also stopped scooping rice with his spoon.
"Seraphina, I'm giving you two months to get familiar with everything at the company. After two months, you'll take over Seraphina Enterprises. We'll announce your identity publicly. Your father will feel at ease when he sees this," Elizabeth said.
"I understand, Mom," Seraphina nodded calmly.
Elizabeth turned to look at Brandon. Brandon was still young, but he would need to take over Timothy's company in the future, so some things needed to be prepared now.
Elizabeth planned to wait for Timothy to wake up so they could discuss finding teachers for Brandon together.
Elizabeth went to the study and called Robbie to arrange things for Seraphina. After Elizabeth finished talking with Robbie, she went to the hospital room to stay with Timothy.
Timothy still hadn't woken up. Eldridge said he would probably wake up in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, Seraphina received a return call from Stefan.
Stefan had taken Sloane to the hospital last night and didn't return to the hotel until noon today.
Seeing the missed call from late last night, he quickly called Seraphina back. "Dione, sorry I missed your call last night. You called so late—did something happen?"
Seraphina was handling today's business. She said, "Stefan, let's talk about it when you get back."
She had called unconsciously last night in her panic.
Stefan on the other end of the line could hear the exhaustion in Seraphina's voice, and his heart tightened, but he didn't press further. He just said gently, "Okay, I'll come back as soon as I can. Contact me anytime if anything comes up."
Seraphina nodded. "Okay, I know."
After hanging up, Seraphina took a deep breath and continued handling the work Robbie had assigned today.
She needed to push down all her emotions for now.
At that moment, Stefan at the hotel in Silverlight City hung up the phone, quickly took a shower, and ordered meals suitable for patients to take to the hospital.
Last night, Sloane had felt unwell due to a high fever. She would probably need to stay in the hospital in Silverlight City for three days before being discharged.
On his way to the hospital, thinking about Seraphina's unusual tone, he felt worried.
He took out his phone to check flight schedules. There was a flight tomorrow afternoon. Without hesitation, he booked a ticket.
At the hospital, Stefan knocked on the door and entered to find not only Sloane but also another middle-aged woman.
The middle-aged woman gave Stefan a cold look, then turned to Sloane. "Sloane, I'm leaving now. Remember to transfer the money to me."
This middle-aged woman was Mindy, Sloane's aunt.
Mindy leaned on her cane and slowly prepared to leave the room.
"Aunt, wait, I'll call you a car," Sloane looked at Stefan. "Mr. Hensley, call a car to take my aunt home."
Stefan put down the meals and called for a car.
When the car arrived, Mindy left the hospital room.
Because Sloane still wasn't feeling well, she only ate a few bites before stopping.
Stefan cleaned up the remaining food and threw it away, then returned to the room to mention that he had something to do and needed to return to Border Ridge City tomorrow. "I'll arrange for someone to come take care of you."
If he wasn't already planning to resign, he really couldn't just leave his boss Sloane like this.
Sloane didn't ask more questions. After thinking it over, she said, "No need to arrange anyone. I'll go back tomorrow too."
"You might have recurring fevers these two days," Stefan said. "Would you like to stay a couple more days?"
"It's fine. When I get to Border Ridge City, I'll go to the hospital there," Sloane said with a faint smile.
Stefan nodded. "I'll go ask the doctor first. If the doctor thinks it's okay, I'll book the tickets."
In the evening, Timothy finally woke up.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw Brandon staring at him without blinking.
Seeing Timothy wake up, Brandon's face lit up with a smile.
Timothy was awake.
"Dad, you slept for so long," Brandon said very quietly, worried about waking Elizabeth.
Elizabeth, who was keeping watch on the other side of the bed, had fallen asleep with her head resting on the bed because she was too tired.
Timothy's lips curved into a faint smile.
Brandon continued in a small voice, "Dad, do you want water? I'll pour you some."
"No need." Timothy didn't dare let Brandon pour water—he didn't know if the water in the kettle was hot or warm.
Elizabeth seemed to hear Timothy's voice. She stirred slightly and slowly opened her eyes.
Seeing that Timothy was awake, joy flashed in her eyes. "Mr. Robinson."
Timothy's lips curved upward, and he slowly raised his hand. Elizabeth quickly grasped it.
He said softly, "I'm sorry for worrying you all."
Elizabeth shook her head. She first poured a glass of water, then helped Timothy sit up and lean against her to drink.
Brandon climbed down from his chair and ran out of the room.
Elizabeth glanced at Brandon but looked away—she wasn't worried about him getting into trouble here.
Brandon's little legs started running toward the main building to tell Seraphina that Timothy was awake, but then he suddenly remembered he could call.
He tapped his forehead. "I'm so silly!"
He walked to the door and got his phone from the bodyguard standing guard, reciting Seraphina's phone number while pressing the number keys.
When the call connected, Brandon quickly said, "Seraphina, Dad's awake!"
Seraphina immediately stopped working, responding with pleasant surprise, "I'll be right there."
Eldridge entered the room to examine Timothy and confirmed his condition had temporarily stabilized. "Timothy, keep fighting."
Timothy smiled faintly. "Mr. Bynum, thank you."
Eldridge walked out of the room with a faint smile, his eyes slightly red.
Seraphina and Brandon happened to meet Eldridge at the door.
They bowed to greet him.
"Mr. Bynum."
"Mr. Bynum."
Eldridge patted Brandon's little bald head with a kind smile. "Go on in. Your father is awake."
Timothy was the patient with the strongest will that Eldridge had ever seen. The fact that his body had held on this long was already quite remarkable.
