Chapter 352 Shouldn't Have Spoiled Him
It's pretty awkward to witness someone getting rejected when proposing, but hey, the awkward one is someone else!
Seraphina didn't look curiously in Demetrius's direction. She and Stefan walked down another path.
Demetrius glanced coolly at Seraphina and Stefan as they took the other route.
His gaze fell on their clasped hands.
What does "suitable" even mean?
These two clearly don't match in looks, yet they're still together.
Demetrius thought about Adelaide's firm declaration just now that "we're not suitable for each other," and he curled his lips coldly.
Demetrius's assistant Gavin Dixon walked respectfully up to Demetrius. "Ms. Fairfax left in a male colleague's car."
Demetrius said coldly, "The Kramer Group won't have any business dealings with the Fairfax family anymore. To tell me we're not suitable at this point—she's really shameless."
Two years ago, the Fairfax family's company was on the verge of bankruptcy, and Adelaide's mother couldn't handle the stress and ended up in the ICU.
Adelaide wanted to make money as fast as possible and planned to sell her body to save her mother. With nowhere else to turn, she happened to meet Demetrius.
Adelaide's looks happened to please Demetrius, so he helped save the Fairfax family.
Over these two years, Demetrius never touched Adelaide. He respected her suggestion to date first.
Now somehow it's turned into him not respecting her.
Really shameless.
Gavin also thought Adelaide was totally ungrateful after getting all those benefits.
Two years ago, she was the one desperately begging for help, and now she's acting like Demetrius forced her into something.
Demetrius was a cold and strict man. He made plans for each year and strictly completed them.
Like this year—his plan was to get married. He never expected his marriage partner Adelaide to suddenly back out.
Since she backed out, getting more benefits from him would be difficult now.
Seraphina got home at ten at night.
Elizabeth and Timothy were both in the living room, as if they'd been specifically waiting for her to come back.
Elizabeth tilted her chin slightly toward Timothy and teased, "Your dad is so stubborn, he insisted on waiting for you to come home."
Seraphina went on a date, and Timothy, being the dad, was worrying for no reason.
Timothy smiled lightly. "I'm just concerned about Seraphina. They're not married yet."
Seraphina didn't think Timothy was being too controlling. She felt warmth in her heart and smiled. "Dad, you're so good to me."
Seraphina walked over and sat down, taking the water glass Elizabeth handed her with both hands. She took a sip. "Thanks, Mom."
"Is Stefan badly hurt?" Timothy asked casually.
Seraphina froze. "Hurt? Stefan got hurt?"
Seeing Seraphina's completely confused look, Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "You didn't know?"
Timothy smiled. "Today during a meeting, Sloane publicly fired the CFO. The CFO threw a cup at her, and Mr. Hensley, being an excellent employee, stepped forward to protect Sloane."
Elizabeth naturally picked up on Timothy's sarcastic tone and gave him a look, telling him to tone it down.
Timothy snorted coldly. He was already being restrained.
Seraphina frowned. No wonder Stefan sat up straight all evening without leaning back in his chair—he must have been injured somewhere.
She didn't immediately call to check on Stefan. After all, Stefan was still alive and well.
What's the rush? She wasn't in a hurry.
"Dad, you're amazing! You know everything so clearly." Seraphina decided to praise Timothy first.
"Of course." Timothy was pleased that Seraphina praised him. Although Timothy didn't want the Robinson Group, he still had people planted in the company.
Elizabeth's eyes flashed with amusement. "If your dad was attacked, Joe would also step forward to protect him, unless he wanted to change jobs."
That's just the nature of being a personal assistant or special assistant. If you see your boss in danger and just stand by, you're basically asking to be fired.
Seraphina nodded with a smile. "Don't worry, Mom. This kind of thing won't affect my relationship with Stefan."
After Seraphina returned to her room, she took her time taking a shower first, and only called Stefan after she finished.
Stefan answered the phone, his gentle voice coming through. "Dione, I'm home."
"Now that you're home, let's video chat," Seraphina said softly. "We just separated and I already miss you."
She innocently expressed how much she missed Stefan!
Stefan chuckled. "Sure."
When the video connected, Seraphina saw Stefan sitting on the sofa with a gentle smile on his face.
She smiled. "I just watched a short video. The guy in it could do 50 one-handed push-ups in one minute. Stefan, how many can you do? I'll time you right now. Can you show me?"
If Stefan hadn't been injured, he would have definitely nodded immediately. Push-ups would be no problem.
It would be a perfect chance to show off his strength.
But now he was injured. "Dione, can we do it another day?"
Seraphina looked at Stefan with confusion and asked the ultimate question: "Are you not able to do it? I won't laugh at you if you can't."
A man can't be told he can't do something!
But this time it was Stefan's turn to study Seraphina. He suspected she might know about his injury.
But thinking it over, he figured she probably didn't know. He hadn't exposed himself.
While Stefan was subtly studying her, Seraphina continued to show her innocent smile.
She was very innocent. She didn't know anything.
Stefan still wanted to keep fooling her.
Seraphina continued to smile. "If you don't want to do push-ups, forget it. My dad is really great. Even though he's in his forties, he's still excellent."
When mentioning Timothy, Seraphina instantly became Timothy's little fan.
"Stefan, I'm going to bed. Good night."
She hung up the phone quickly and cleanly, thinking coldly: Got hurt and now can't do push-ups, huh!
Going off to play hero and getting hurt—serves you right!
Men shouldn't be spoiled.
