Chapter 281 Tit for Tat
"Actually, I can walk by myself, it's just a few steps," Elizabeth couldn't help saying when she saw Timothy about to carry her up the stairs again. "Mr. Robinson, look around - people are watching."
Timothy's gaze swept coldly around the area. Wherever his eyes landed, people turned their heads away and stopped looking.
"No one's watching now," he said, then carried her into the flower shop.
Once inside, he gently set Elizabeth down but still kept his arm around her waist, afraid she might accidentally fall.
The flower shop was filled with various floral scents, the air fresh with the fragrance of flowers.
Elizabeth personally selected a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, and the owner wrapped them up nicely and handed them to her.
The two of them were going to the cemetery today to pay respects to Russell.
After returning to the hospital from the cemetery, Elizabeth saw Robbie waiting outside the ward. Her heart sank - she knew there must be something going on at the company, otherwise Robbie wouldn't have come in person.
Robbie followed Elizabeth and Timothy into the ward. After closing the door, he pulled out a document and handed it to Elizabeth. "We've found the reason for the unusual fluctuations in the financial reports from the past two years. Several electronic and electrical products on the shopping website have been generating higher profit margins."
Elizabeth took the document and looked it over carefully, then looked up and asked, "Have you traced the purchasing channels and the team responsible for these products?"
Robbie nodded. "These products were all sourced through a company called Luminary Agency, and the purchasing team from two years ago has gradually left the company."
Normally, higher profit margins should make the whole company happy, but both Elizabeth and Timothy sensed something was wrong.
Based on the company's strategy and market demand from those two years, there was no way profits should have increased.
Elizabeth frowned in thought, her fingers tapping lightly on the folder.
Timothy went to pour her a glass of water.
"Thank you." Elizabeth took the glass and looked up at Robbie. "Have you checked Luminary Agency's background?"
Robbie nodded. "We did a preliminary investigation. The company was established less than three years ago, and their business dealings are mainly with our company. The legal representative and chairman is named Jonah Tate."
A flash of coldness passed through Elizabeth's eyes. "Keep investigating this agency. Also, have the products purchased through them tested, and look into those former purchasing team members. Calculate how many products sourced through this agency have been sold over the past two years."
Robbie nodded. He then reported another important matter. "Chris and the others want to meet with you."
Elizabeth's first thought was that they must be coming to cause trouble. "After I'm discharged from the hospital - tell them next month. I won't see them now."
Robbie left the ward after his report.
Elizabeth stared at the information about Luminary Agency, feeling an uneasy premonition. She rubbed her forehead wearily.
Timothy gently stroked her back and said calmly, "I'll also send people to investigate this agency. Don't worry too much."
Elizabeth murmured in agreement.
"Mr. Robinson, did you buy that place at White Sand Beach?" she asked softly.
"Yes."
They both fell silent.
Seraphina's death was a deep wound in both their hearts.
After a moment of quiet in the ward, Elizabeth spoke up. "I want to take a shower."
"Okay." Timothy went to get waterproof supplies.
Elizabeth turned to look at Timothy's back and blinked her slightly stinging eyes.
Meanwhile, Chris and the others all received calls from Robbie saying Elizabeth agreed to meet with them next month.
Chris hung up and snorted coldly.
He said to Maddox, "Elizabeth won't meet with us until next month. Should we sell our shares to other shareholders?"
Maddox shook his head, his eyes cold. "We can't sell to others. You guys leak the news about selling shares. I don't believe she'll be able to sit still."
Chris smiled after hearing Maddox's suggestion. "That's a good idea. As long as we spread word that we're selling our shares, Elizabeth definitely won't be able to sit still."
Maddox sneered. "Since she wants the company, we'll give it to her this time. Let's see if she can handle it in the end."
Chris thought about Elizabeth's eventual fate and immediately laughed.
The company wasn't so easy to take.
Maddox and the others moved quickly. The next day, Elizabeth received news that they wanted to sell their shares.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. She turned to Timothy. "Mr. Robinson, why do they want to sell their company shares? Is it purely because I'm controlling the company?"
Timothy raised an eyebrow. The two looked at each other, both knowing from the other's eyes that this matter couldn't be that simple.
"Since they want to meet me, I'll meet them tomorrow," Elizabeth said flatly.
She called Robbie to contact Chris and the others.
When Juniper went to the hospital to take care of Freya, she casually mentioned running into Elizabeth at the hospital.
"What happened to her?" Freya asked coldly.
"She seems to have had some kind of surgery and is staying in the hospital," Juniper said uncertainly.
Freya's face was cold.
Juniper didn't continue.
She had deliberately brought up Elizabeth.
The more Freya and Elizabeth fought, the better it was for Herschel.
After Juniper left, Freya thought for a moment, then immediately made a phone call. "Mr. Sawyer, I need your help."
Her voice was anxious and urgent. "Do you have any charms to suppress someone with very heavy negative energy, or some potion to remove bad luck?"
A steady sigh came from the other end. "Mrs. Nightingale, negative energy and bad luck can't be solved with simple potions. We need to find the root cause and then perform the appropriate rituals and arrangements."
Freya frowned. "There's someone with very heavy negative energy who always brings misfortune. What should I do?"
Phoenix Sawyer on the other end thought for a moment. "Freya, I suggest you bring her to see me. I need to assess the situation in person."
Elizabeth would never go with her.
Freya furrowed her brow. "I can only give you her birth date and photo."
Phoenix nodded. "That works too."
Freya hung up the phone. She quickly searched online for Elizabeth's photo and birth details, organized them, and sent them to Phoenix.
Freya's eyes held a crazy hatred.
Only by hating Elizabeth did Freya feel better.
The next day, before Elizabeth had fully woken up, she vaguely heard noisy voices outside the ward.
Timothy frowned and walked out to look.
He glanced at Freya and the Phoenix she'd brought with her, then at a puddle of water on the floor.
Seeing Timothy, Freya said coldly, "I'm doing this for Elizabeth's good. This is potion from Mr. Sawyer to remove bad luck. Mr. Robinson, for the sake of your own life, you'd better stay away from Elizabeth. She'll get you killed."
"Is there something wrong here?" Timothy pointed at his head lazily. "I suggest you see a psychiatrist."
Freya sneered. "Fine if you don't believe it."
She turned to leave.
Timothy looked at Freya coldly. "Stop them. Call the police."
Elizabeth had woken up at some point and walked to the doorway, hearing what Freya said.
"Call the police for what? I'm her mother. I'm just kindly removing bad luck for my own daughter. Will the police care about family matters?" Freya turned back around, not afraid at all, showing no weakness.
She hadn't hurt anyone or caused trouble.
Elizabeth leaned against the doorframe and said flatly, "Then I really should thank you."
For Elizabeth, these things didn't bother her at all.
She smiled slightly, her eyes sweeping over the puddle of potion.
Seeing Elizabeth's calm expression without any anger, Freya looked at her resentfully. "You should thank me."
Juniper hadn't expected to witness this confrontation between Freya and Elizabeth when she came to the hospital today.
The Nightingale Group would definitely belong to Herschel in the future!
Timothy said to the bodyguard beside him, "Take them to the police station."
Juniper quickly protected Freya. "Mrs. Nightingale, let's go." She tried to persuade Elizabeth, "Ms. Penrose, Mrs. Nightingale meant well. How can you send your own mother to the police station?"
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "I really appreciate her 'kindness.'"
She turned and walked into the ward, picked up a water pitcher, and walked to the door. She handed it to the bodyguard. "Splash it at their feet. Water to remove bad luck."
The bodyguard moved quickly, took the pitcher, and splashed it directly. Although Freya and Juniper jumped aside, they still got wet.
Freya raised her hand and pointed at Elizabeth. "Elizabeth!"
In her agitation, Freya's heart tightened.
Seeing Freya clutch her chest, Juniper knew this was bad - she couldn't die before transferring the shares to Herschel.
"Quick, call a doctor!"
