Chapter 279 He Had a Car Accident
"If Joe hasn't found anything wrong with Sarah, don't give her a hard time." A hint of contemplation flashed in Elizabeth's eyes.
Timothy nodded, "Joe checked Sarah's background, everything's normal."
Elizabeth smiled, "That's good. She does seem capable, as long as there's no problem."
In the evening, Timothy was discussing Seraphina Enterprises' financial issues with Elizabeth.
He pointed at the data chart on the computer, "After comparing the current financial statement data with previous years, the fluctuation here might indicate a financial problem, though it's not very obvious."
Elizabeth frowned too, looking carefully at the data on the screen, "I'll send it to Robbie and Mr. Grant to investigate. The fluctuation doesn't look big, but we still need to look into it further."
A couple days ago, she had already sent Jacob back to Border Ridge City to help Robbie handle company matters.
She stared at the data on the screen.
She was very concerned about the financial fluctuation.
Timothy rarely praised people, "Robbie and Jacob are quite capable."
Thinking of Jacob's little feelings for Elizabeth, Timothy's lips curved up slightly.
Just then, Elizabeth's phone on the bedside table rang.
Timothy stood up and handed her the phone.
Elizabeth looked at the caller ID - an unknown number - but she still answered.
"Elizabeth, Uncle had a car accident. He wants to see you, you'd better come to the hospital." Herschel's hoarse voice came through the phone.
Elizabeth's face instantly darkened, "Why was there an accident?"
"It was an accident. A bus's brakes failed and crashed into Uncle's car," Herschel rubbed his throbbing temple, "You'd better get to Border Ridge City First Hospital quickly, or it might be too late."
Herschel hung up. Whether Elizabeth would come back was up to her.
Elizabeth frowned. She looked at Timothy, "Mr. Robinson, I need to go back to Border Ridge City tomorrow. Mr. Nightingale had a car accident."
Timothy clearly disagreed, "You haven't recovered yourself, and the flight takes twenty hours. Elizabeth, your body can't handle it."
Elizabeth reached out and took Timothy's hand, "It's okay, I know my own body."
No matter what, even though she didn't acknowledge them anymore, she should at least go see Russell.
Timothy held Elizabeth's hand back, "I understand. I'll arrange it. I'll make the call now."
He had someone arrange a private plane to make the flight as comfortable as possible.
He also had Joe arrange the necessary medical equipment and nursing staff, just in case.
Joe on the other end responded, "Is Ms. Simpson also going back to Border Ridge City?"
Timothy confirmed, "Tell her we're leaving tomorrow."
When Mabel received Joe's call and learned they were leaving for Border Ridge City tomorrow, she quickly called Maya that evening.
Once Maya answered.
Mabel got straight to the point, "Can you find a way to temporarily call Alfonso back to Avalonia? Give me half a month."
Maya's voice on the other end was cold, "Yes, I'll figure something out."
After hanging up, Maya frowned.
Sophia asked with concern, "Ms. Coleman, what's wrong?"
Maya didn't hide it from Sophia, "Mabel wants me to find a way to call Alfonso back to Avalonia."
Sophia frowned, "Ms. Coleman, if you do this and Alfonso finds out, he'll be angry."
Maya snorted coldly, "I'm his mother. Even if he's angry, he won't do anything to me. I just don't know what method to use."
Seeing Maya's determination, Sophia stopped trying to persuade her.
Maya sat on the hospital bed, constantly thinking of various methods.
She knew that once Alfonso decided on something, it was very difficult to change his mind.
"Sophia, what reason do you think we could use to call Alfonso back to Avalonia?" Maya asked with a furrowed brow.
Sophia couldn't come up with ideas. She shook her head, "Ms. Coleman, I can't think of a way. Alfonso would quickly see through a lie."
The only method Maya could think of was to have a problem with her health, but that would require a doctor's cooperation.
But she could manage that.
Maya thought of a solution, "Sophia, I'll pretend to faint later. You need to act very nervous. Then even if the doctor can't find anything wrong, I can insist that I don't know why I fainted."
The next morning, Alfonso received a call from Sophia saying Maya had suddenly collapsed.
He was supposed to go to Border Ridge City with Mabel and the others today, but now he had to change his plans.
"Mabel darling, my mother suddenly collapsed. I need to go back to Avalonia first. Next time I go back to Border Ridge City, I'll take you to Avalonia."
Hearing Alfonso's words, Mabel quietly breathed a sigh of relief. She nodded and pretended to be concerned, "You go ahead."
Alfonso lifted Mabel's chin gently, "Wait for me to come get you, okay?"
Mabel nodded, "Okay."
After Alfonso left, Mabel went to the airport alone to wait for Timothy and Elizabeth.
Mabel took out her phone and sent Elizabeth a message: [Elizabeth, I'm already at the airport. Let me know when you arrive]
Soon after, Timothy and Elizabeth also arrived at the airport.
The plane took off, carrying them to Border Ridge City.
At Border Ridge City's General Hospital.
Vivienne was supporting Freya, who was crying very sadly.
After Russell's car accident, Freya's family rushed over from Majestic City.
"I'm sorry, we did everything we could." The doctor said heavily as he and the nurses walked out of the hospital room.
Russell was gone.
Herschel walked out of the room with reddened eyes to make calls arranging the funeral.
Elizabeth got off the plane and went straight to the hospital. On the way, she called Herschel to ask for the room number, and then learned that Russell had already passed away.
Timothy stayed by Elizabeth's side the whole time. He really couldn't feel at ease letting her return to Border Ridge City when her health hadn't recovered, so he came back to the country with her.
Seeing her face look sad after hanging up, he asked, "Elizabeth, did something happen?"
Elizabeth pressed her lips together, "Yes, Mr. Nightingale is gone."
Timothy held her hand, giving her support.
The two drove to the hospital without saying much along the way.
In the hospital room.
Vivienne helped Freya sit down and comforted her, "Freya, you need to take care of yourself."
Freya's older brother Rodolfo was also worried that Freya's heart couldn't take it. He urged her to watch her health, frowning, "Where's Elizabeth?"
Hearing Rodolfo mention Elizabeth, Freya suddenly stopped crying.
Freya's face instantly became twisted and ugly.
Freya's heart suddenly filled with hatred, believing this was all Elizabeth's fault.
Yes, it was all because of Elizabeth. She was the one who harmed Russell! It was all Elizabeth's fault for bringing misfortune.
Freya's eyes were bloodshot, tears flowing uncontrollably, "She's the one who harmed Russell! It's all because of her! She shouldn't have appeared!"
Vivienne and Rodolfo looked at each other.
Rodolfo thought Russell's car accident wasn't an accident but deliberate. His face turned serious as he quickly asked, "Who is she?"
Just then, Elizabeth and Timothy hurried to the hospital room.
The moment Freya saw Elizabeth, she suddenly stood up, pointing at Elizabeth with a trembling voice, "It's all because of you! You're an unlucky person. You harmed your own daughter, and now you've harmed your father. Why didn't you die out there? Why did you come back alive!"
Rodolfo and Vivienne were instantly stunned.
Elizabeth was momentarily speechless at Freya's inexplicable accusation.
Timothy stood beside Elizabeth, guarding against Freya touching Elizabeth in her anger.
His gaze was cold and alert, one hand gently resting on Elizabeth's shoulder.
Rodolfo frowned and stepped forward, trying to calm Freya's anger, "Freya, calm down."
Freya glared at Elizabeth, her eyes full of hatred, "I don't want to see her! Make her leave! The farther away the better!"
