Chapter 276 Fraudster
Alfonso went to the ward to visit Elizabeth first, then left the hospital with Mabel.
As soon as Mabel got into the car, Alfonso pulled her up and placed her on his lap.
Alfonso's body pressed against hers.
"I've been trying to reach you these past few days, why didn't you reply?" Alfonso's voice was low with a hint of grievance.
Mabel lowered her eyes and asked softly, "Weren't you busy with Ms. Coleman's situation? How's your mom doing?"
Alfonso narrowed his eyes. Mabel was avoiding his question. He held her tighter and whispered in her ear, "It was a close call, but she needs to stay in the hospital for observation. She's mostly okay now though."
After speaking, his kiss gently landed on her neck, the warmth sending a slight shiver through her skin.
Mabel shifted her body, turning her head to avoid him, "I'm on my period right now, don't touch me."
Alfonso said doubtfully, "Doesn't your period usually come at the beginning of the month?"
Mabel replied, "It changes. You're a man, you wouldn't understand."
She tried to sit down by herself, but Alfonso tightened his grip around her waist.
"Don't move around, we won't have sex."
Alfonso rested his chin on Mabel's shoulder, "I just want to hold you. This time I'm back, I plan to take you to get our marriage certificate."
Mabel pulled at the corner of her mouth, "I don't want to."
Alfonso's slender hand gently pinched her face toward him, "Why not?"
Mabel remained silent.
Her silent attitude left Alfonso at a loss.
"We don't have to get married right away, but you need to come with me to Avalonia." Alfonso took a step back.
"I'm not going to some unfamiliar place." Mabel shook her head, her attitude firm.
Alfonso was getting a bit angry now. Mabel was being so stubborn.
He turned her whole body around to face him.
"Mabel, have you forgotten that I'm still your creditor? If you don't come with me to Avalonia and you run away, what am I supposed to do?"
Mabel said, "I'll borrow money from Mr. Robinson to pay you back."
Alfonso laughed in frustration and ravaged her lips.
He stared into her eyes, his voice husky and forceful, "I'm giving you two weeks. Then I'm taking you to Avalonia."
After Alfonso and Mabel left the ward, Elizabeth poked Timothy's arm with her finger, "Is it really okay for Mabel to marry Albert? Alfonso doesn't look like he'll let go easily."
Timothy saw a flash of worry in Elizabeth's eyes and said, "Mabel chose Albert to completely cut ties with Alfonso. Although Albert has a bad reputation, Mabel doesn't care."
Elizabeth sighed softly, "She probably still has feelings for Alfonso, but will marrying into the Sanchez family really make Alfonso give up?"
"Albert may have a bad reputation, but at least he has some status in the Sanchez family. If Mabel insists, I'll respect her choice. However, Alfonso probably won't let this go easily." Timothy gave an objective assessment.
He thought for a moment and held Elizabeth's hand, "All we can do is try our best to help her."
Elizabeth nodded.
Hopefully everything would work out.
At that moment, Alfonso and Mabel sat in the car, the atmosphere somewhat heavy.
Mabel had already moved to sit on the other side. When she heard Alfonso would take her to Avalonia in two weeks, she started thinking about what to do.
She hadn't contacted Albert yet and didn't know if he would agree to the arranged marriage.
Alfonso glanced at Mabel and said, "Mabel, what do you want for lunch?"
Mabel said weakly, "Whatever."
Alfonso knew she was upset. He coaxed her gently, "Don't be angry, I just don't want to be apart from you anymore."
Mabel turned to look at him, her eyes showing some disapproval, "Alfonso, have you thought about the fact that your mom won't approve of us?"
She had wanted to bring up what happened back then, but she couldn't be impulsive now - it would make him suspicious. She'd bring it up after marrying into the Sanchez family.
Alfonso was silent for a moment, then sighed softly, "Please trust me. Over time, my mom will accept you."
Mabel's heart ached, but she knew she had already made her decision, "Okay."
The car continued driving on the road. Mabel looked at the scenery outside the window, thinking about the text message she had received.
She pressed her lips together, lost in her thoughts, and said nothing more.
After Mabel and Alfonso finished lunch, she firmly refused to go back to the hotel with him, "My luggage is all at Mr. Robinson's place, and I don't like staying in hotels."
Alfonso didn't force her, "I'll come find you tomorrow."
The car stopped at Timothy's house.
Mabel got out of the car and walked in without looking back. The first thing she did when she got to her room was call Albert.
At that moment, Albert was shopping with a beautiful woman named Bianca. When he heard Mabel on the phone talking about an arranged marriage, he thought he was dealing with a scammer.
"People still use this kind of thing to scam others these days? Do you think I'm stupid?" Albert snorted and hung up.
There was no way Mabel would choose to have an arranged marriage with him.
Albert continued shopping with Bianca.
Mabel was speechless and directly sent Albert a message instead, [Add me on Facebook, video call]
A video call would show she was real and not a scam.
Albert saw the message and skeptically added her on Facebook.
The two connected on video call.
Albert saw Mabel in the camera, "It really is you? This isn't AI, is it? Not human."
It was hard to believe.
Mabel was about to speak when she saw Bianca enter the video frame. Bianca leaned against Albert and cooed sweetly, "Albert, I want that bag."
Albert pulled out his credit card, "Baby, take this and go swipe it yourself."
Bianca gave Mabel a challenging look, then took the card and went to make the purchase.
Only then did Albert speak, "Ms. Simpson, today isn't April Fool's Day, and I don't want an arranged marriage. It would be too restrictive for me."
At that moment, in the hallway outside.
The butler was leading Alfonso to Mabel's room.
When Mabel got out of the car, Alfonso forgot to give her the gift he brought from Avalonia, so he had the driver turn back to Timothy's house.
Inside the room, Mabel was still working hard to persuade Albert, "Don't worry, after we're married, I won't interfere with you having lovers."
