Chapter 257 Powerless to Resist?
After all these years, seeing Elizabeth again, a flicker of complicated emotions crossed Brynn's eyes.
Brynn turned and left, pulling out her phone to call Armando. "Armando, let's change restaurants. I don't really like the food here."
On the other end, Armando replied, "I can already see you."
Armando hung up, his gaze landing on Elizabeth dining there.
Although Elizabeth saw Armando too, she pretended not to notice.
Mabel was speechless, not expecting to run into Armando and his group. "Elizabeth, this foie gras is pretty good, try it."
Brynn walked over to Armando's side, handing him her bag to carry, and said coldly, "Let's go. The food here is terrible. Why are you so late?"
"Traffic jam," Armando explained as he followed Brynn out of the restaurant.
He no longer had the means to maintain his former pride.
The encounter between Armando and Elizabeth was just a brief episode.
Seeing that Armando wasn't as arrogant as before, Elizabeth raised an eyebrow.
After finishing their meal, Elizabeth called Lyle and they agreed on a meeting place.
At the agreed-upon café.
In the café, Lyle saw Elizabeth and said with a smile, "Long time no see."
Elizabeth nodded with a faint smile. "Yes, Mr. Warner, long time no see."
Lyle smiled, a hint of helplessness showing in his eyes. "Ms. Penrose, how long will you be staying in Silverlight City this time? Do you want to visit the company?"
Elizabeth thought for a moment before saying slowly, "I'll visit Quin Agency tomorrow morning, then fly back to Border Ridge City in the afternoon. Quin Agency has developed really well these past few years. Also, regarding charity work, starting this year, I'd like to increase our contribution."
Lyle's expression turned serious. "These past few years, our company has actually done very well in charity work. Your original wish is halfway fulfilled. Every year we organize artists to participate in various public welfare activities, donating money and supplies, especially for children and teenagers. The results have been remarkable, it's really..."
Lyle gave a thumbs up.
A flash of gratitude crossed Elizabeth's eyes as she said sincerely, "Thank you, Lyle. You've worked hard all these years."
Lyle laughed heartily and waved his hand. "This is all part of my job. After all, I am Mr. Warner."
He then asked with concern, "Where are you staying now? I'll pick you up tomorrow morning to go to the company."
Elizabeth nodded. "Windward Hotel, see you at eight."
Quin Agency's development over the years had already surpassed the former Starlight Group.
Thinking about Quin Agency's growth and changes over the years, Elizabeth was truly grateful to Lyle.
The next morning, Elizabeth arrived at Quin Agency.
Lyle originally wanted to accompany her on the tour, but Elizabeth declined his offer. "Lyle, you go ahead with your work. I'll just look around on my own."
She picked up a temporary employee badge and hung it around her neck, then began walking around the company discreetly.
She walked to the trainee practice rooms and, passing by a classroom, saw a young man practicing street dance while singing.
The young man's dance moves were full of energy, and his voice was quite infectious.
Elizabeth stopped and watched for a moment, listening for a while, then knocked on the door. "When you sing, pay attention to coordinating your breathing and rhythm, and try to put emotion into the music."
The young man stopped, looking at Elizabeth at the door with some surprise.
He bent down to pick up a towel, his shirt riding up slightly to reveal his lean waist.
He wiped the sweat from his forehead and asked somewhat shyly, "Are you a new teacher?"
Elizabeth smiled faintly and shook her head. "No, your performance just now was quite good, but there's still room for improvement. Keep it up."
The young man was slightly stunned, then the corners of his mouth lifted in a smile.
He was actually the worst at dancing and singing in the whole team, and he didn't expect to be praised today.
After saying this, Elizabeth continued walking around the company.
After completing her tour, Elizabeth returned to Lyle's office.
Seeing her, he smiled and asked, "How was it?"
"Pretty good," Elizabeth nodded. "I'll be going now. Just have the driver take me back to the hotel."
As Elizabeth was about to leave, Lyle stopped her. "Wait, there's something I need to tell you. Jessa will probably terminate her contract when it expires."
Jessa was now at the level of a queen of pop, and she had the ability to go solo.
Elizabeth thought for a moment and nodded. "I understand. We need to respect her choice."
She returned to Windward Hotel to find Alfonso had just been kicked out of the room by Mabel.
He stood outside the door looking defeated, and when he saw Elizabeth approaching, he pressed his lips together and nodded.
As Elizabeth opened the door to return to her room, she lowered her voice and said, "I don't know why you won't explain, but I'm guessing you're afraid that if you explain, it'll be even harder to win Mabel back, right?"
Alfonso's body stiffened slightly. He turned to look at Elizabeth, complicated emotions flashing in his eyes.
Elizabeth glanced at him without continuing, then walked into her room and began packing her luggage.
The three of them took an afternoon flight from Silverlight City back to Border Ridge City.
On this flight back to Border Ridge City, a small incident occurred.
Elizabeth was approached by a young man on the plane.
"Miss, my name is Jacob Grant. I'm 24 years old, graduated from Enigma Institute, and I've never been in a relationship." After saying this, Jacob looked at Elizabeth with bright, expectant eyes.
Elizabeth's mouth twitched speechlessly, regretting not booking a VIP seat. "I'm already married."
Jacob's shoulders instantly drooped, his face full of disappointment. "Already married? Why didn't my mom give birth to me earlier?"
Elizabeth sighed. Your mom would probably want to hit you if she heard you say that.
Mabel was sitting in the back seat, unable to help covering her mouth and giggling. Where did this boy come from?
Fortunately, Jacob was good-looking and his gaze was proper, not the kind that looked sleazy. Otherwise, this kind of corny pickup line could easily get the police called on him.
At that moment, in a luxurious private room at an exclusive club, six members of the Sherman family who held shares in the Sherman Group had gathered together.
Only one person was missing.
Maddox held his wine glass, taking a small sip, his expression slightly dark. "Have you contacted Delbert?"
Chris, sitting across from him, shook his head, looking puzzled. "No, I don't know where he went. Strange."
Maddox frowned, but then waved his hand. "Forget it. It's better that he's not here, otherwise we'd have to share Elizabeth's shares with him too."
Maddox's words revealed a kind of confidence, as if the shares in Elizabeth's hands were already within easy reach.
Hearing this, the other people in the room smiled.
Otha Sherman frowned, raising a concern. "What if she goes to other shareholders to buy shares?"
Maddox said very confidently, "She won't. I've already spoken to them, they won't sell to Elizabeth."
"What do we need to do to make her hand over the shares obediently?" This was Rocco asking.
Maddox put down his wine glass, a cold gleam flashing in his eyes. "Don't worry, she's just a woman. If she's away from her bodyguards, what ability does she have to resist? She'll hand over the shares obediently when the time comes."
Hearing this, several Sherman family members nodded in agreement.
Maddox raised his glass. "Good, to the success of our plan, cheers!"
"Cheers!"
For a moment, the atmosphere in the private room became lively again.
