Chapter 231 Elizabeth Regrets
Freya called Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, come home for dinner tonight. We can also talk about tomorrow's banquet."
Elizabeth looked at Timothy, who was sitting on the sofa waiting for her to finish work, and gave him an apologetic look. "Okay, I'll be there around six."
After hanging up, Elizabeth deliberately blinked her eyes at Timothy.
Timothy raised his eyebrows slightly. "Ms. Penrose, don't say anything. I don't want to hear it."
They had originally planned to have a candlelit dinner for two tonight.
Elizabeth stood up, walked over to Timothy, placed both hands on the armrests of the sofa, and leaned down close to him.
A very assertive pose of a woman making a move on a man.
She smiled apologetically. "Mrs. Nightingale said we need to discuss tomorrow's banquet tonight. Mr. Robinson, I'm sorry."
A hint of helplessness flashed through Timothy's deep eyes, but he kept a straight face. "I finally got a candlelit dinner, and you think that's easy for me?"
Elizabeth nodded. It wasn't easy.
She looked at him seriously, her tone sincere. "Really not easy. Tell you what, tonight when we have sex, I'll go along with whatever you want."
Timothy laughed coldly. "I never thought you'd be so good at negotiating."
He slipped one knee between her legs.
Elizabeth sat down naturally, her usually cold and beautiful face now looking at Timothy with a sultry gaze.
Timothy smiled, showing a gentle expression.
"You said it yourself - you'll cooperate with me tonight."
Elizabeth covered her mouth and laughed coquettishly. Then she dropped her hand and returned to her tough businesswoman expression. "Let me give you some interest first."
She pointed at her red lips with her finger.
Timothy collected his interest, but could only go home for now.
Elizabeth reapplied her lipstick. When it was time, she also set off for The Nightingale Mansion.
At The Nightingale Mansion tonight, dinner included Freya and Russell, Elizabeth, and also Herschel.
After dinner, Russell started talking about tomorrow's banquet.
"Elizabeth, tomorrow's banquet will officially announce that you're my daughter. Don't be too nervous. We'll be there for you," Russell said gently. "For tomorrow's opening dance, Herschel will be your partner. Is that okay?"
Elizabeth nodded. "That's fine."
Freya didn't say much tonight. She had wanted to postpone tomorrow's banquet temporarily, but Russell disagreed.
As night fell, Elizabeth left The Nightingale Mansion.
After Elizabeth left, Herschel finally had a chance to ask about something else. "Should we invite Emma tomorrow?"
Russell pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head. "No need to invite her. If she comes, she'll feel uncomfortable too."
Herschel nodded. "Russell, Freya, I'll head home to rest too."
"Go ahead." Russell waved his hand.
After everyone left.
Freya personally went to the dining room to collect the cup, straw, and other things Elizabeth had touched.
Freya's mood was complicated.
"Freya, don't overthink it. We'll know the results tomorrow afternoon."
Russell had also sent people to look for the woman named Wendy, but so far, there was no news.
Elizabeth came home to see Seraphina completely absorbed in watching cartoons.
Seraphina was so engrossed that she didn't notice Elizabeth had come back.
"Seraphina, where's your dad?" Elizabeth asked gently.
"Mommy, you're back!" Seraphina turned around in delight, her chubby little hand pointing toward the dining room. "Daddy's on the phone over there."
Elizabeth walked toward the dining room, just in time to hear Timothy's cold, mocking voice: "Alfonso, if you use these cheap tricks to threaten and manipulate people, you'll never get someone who truly loves you."
Timothy hadn't wanted to get involved in Alfonso and Mabel's business. Their romantic troubles weren't something he should interfere with.
But when Mabel called Timothy for help, he couldn't just stand by and do nothing.
On the other end of the phone, Alfonso's handsome face was now cold as ice. "Those aren't cheap tricks. Mabel Darling's parents are terrible people anyway. I'm just letting Mabel Darling see her parents' true colors."
Timothy's eyes were stern, his tone even more severe. "Love requires genuine effort, not forcing someone through manipulation. You're only pushing her further away."
Alfonso's tone remained cold as he snorted. "Mr. Robinson, if Ms. Penrose went and found some guy to be her boyfriend one day, let's see if you can still keep your cool."
Timothy smiled coldly. That hypothetical was really annoying. "The difference between us is that Ms. Penrose loves me very much and won't look for anyone else, while you still can't win Mabel back."
Alfonso was speechless.
Timothy saw Elizabeth and hung up the phone decisively.
"What happened with Mabel?" Elizabeth asked with a frown.
"She found herself a boyfriend. Alfonso got angry. You probably know that Mabel's parents are very materialistic and money-hungry." Timothy felt speechless thinking about Mabel's opportunistic parents, Jerald and Arabella.
"The boyfriend you mentioned - his name is Rufus, right? I met him once. He seemed very cheerful. I'll talk to Mabel the day after tomorrow." Elizabeth was actually worried.
The two walked out of the dining room. Timothy went to turn off the TV - he needed to get Seraphina to bed early.
Elizabeth went upstairs to take a bath.
The two of them were thinking in sync about what they'd said in the office today.
The night was deep, and the atmosphere in the room was intimate.
Timothy looked at Elizabeth, who was about to run away at the last minute, and reached out to pull her back.
He used his teeth to tear open the wrapper, his movements quite suggestive.
"Elizabeth, do you know what this is called?" Timothy asked in a low, cold voice.
"No idea." Elizabeth regretted talking big today.
She had already been cooperating with him for a very, very long time.
"This is called giving up without a fight." Timothy narrowed his eyes and taught her a lesson forcefully.
Elizabeth almost cried out. She glared at him, her eyes moist. "What do you know? This is called knowing your limits!"
"No, it's called being weak and easy to bully."
Elizabeth fell silent.
The next morning when she woke up, Elizabeth hugged her head, wanting to cry.
Last night's sex was still vivid in her memory.
Timothy came out of the bathroom and saw Elizabeth holding her head. He raised his eyebrows. "Elizabeth, are you getting up?"
"No." She wanted to keep lying down.
"That's fine too. You were too tired last night. You need to rest well."
Just as Timothy finished his considerate words, a big pillow came flying at him.
Elizabeth threw the pillow weakly. Timothy laughed out loud twice.
He walked over and picked Elizabeth up. "Go take a bath. I need to tell you something you might not be happy about."
"What is it?" Elizabeth asked in a slightly hoarse voice.
She lazily pulled up the strap that had slipped off her shoulder.
Timothy looked down at Elizabeth in his arms, his eyes darkening. "Calista got out of prison a while ago. She bought a ticket on this morning's flight to Border Ridge City."
Elizabeth was now wide awake. She frowned. "She's coming for me, right?"
Elizabeth thought about tonight's Nightingale family banquet, then thought about Wendy, then thought about Calista.
"Should we stop Calista?" Timothy put Elizabeth down and let her brush her teeth and wash her face first.
Elizabeth squeezed out toothpaste, her tone cold. "Sure, she's already coming. No need to stop her. I want to see what the person behind all this is trying to do."
This was really getting interesting.
