Chapter 134 Draining Funds
Sherry went to record "Onward Bound!" today.
This time the show was set at Glistening Lake.
Each celebrity on the show had to paddle a small boat to the other side by themselves.
Halfway across, Sherry's boat actually sank.
Luckily she knew how to swim.
The crew also had lifeguards on standby.
When she got to shore, her makeup was completely ruined.
There were reporters waiting on the shore, and they took photos of Sherry with her makeup messed up.
Della held back her anger, grabbed a coat to wrap around Sherry, "What's wrong with your production crew? Didn't they do a safety check on the boat?"
She first got Sherry into the car.
"After what happened today, let's not continue filming for now. It's bad luck."
Sherry said angrily, her anger quickly growing.
She never expected to run into something like this on her first day back at work.
Right at that moment, Emily called.
Sherry didn't want to answer at first, thinking they still wanted to ask about Armando.
Emily sent a message. After seeing it, Sherry called Emily back, "Mom, why is Dad in the hospital?"
Emily was now anxiously standing outside the emergency room, "Sherry, come to Hopewell Hospital quickly. Your father suddenly collapsed and was taken to the emergency room."
"Okay," Sherry frowned. She first said to Della, "Go to Hopewell Hospital."
"Mom, don't worry. What happened? Why did Dad suddenly collapse?"
Emily looked at the emergency room doors. She wasn't sure either, "Something seems to have happened at the company. Your father was so angry it affected his health. You'll have to ask Louie for details."
Sherry knew Gerald's secretary Louie Hopper's phone number. She called Louie to understand the situation.
From Louie, she finally learned the reason for Gerald's rage.
The Scott family's clothing company had been drained of funds?
And the person who drained the company's funds was Samuel.
Sherry's face instantly darkened, "Samuel... where is he now?"
Louie said, "We've already called the police. His whole family fled abroad last night."
The method Samuel used to drain the funds wasn't particularly sophisticated, but he succeeded.
He used his authority to direct company funds to buy from a raw materials company he had set up.
He also established another company specifically to buy clothing from the Scott family, always able to purchase at the lowest prices and then sell to other merchants.
Sherry rubbed her temples. She suddenly remembered something else.
She had also co-signed a loan guarantee for Samuel for four billion dollars.
Sherry's fingers tightened around her phone, feeling a bit panicked.
Seeing Sherry's pale face, Della guessed something bad had happened, "Sherry, change out of those wet clothes first, don't catch a cold."
Max called Elizabeth, "Our people have already sent Samuel's family abroad."
Elizabeth smiled, "Thank you. Now we can go after Sherry for the debt."
Sherry had just arrived at the hospital when she received a call from Max. When she heard he was calling to collect the debt, her face darkened.
"Ms. Scott, we have a signed contract. My boss knows Samuel fled abroad."
"I clearly remember the repayment method is monthly payments. The four billion dollar loan was just taken out, why are you demanding payment now?"
Sherry hadn't entered the hospital yet. Instead, she walked to a less crowded area, controlling her volume as she angrily questioned him.
Max said apologetically, "Samuel previously borrowed another five hundred million dollars, which needs to be repaid within three days. Ms. Scott signed as the guarantor at that time. Our contract has a clause stating you bear guarantee responsibility for all loans the borrower has with our company."
Sherry's head instantly felt dizzy.
She had been set up by Samuel!
Where would she get five hundred million dollars! No, wait, there was also the four billion dollars after that.
Sherry really panicked.
She hung up on Max and walked into the hospital.
When Emily saw Sherry arrive, she started crying again, "The doctor said after your father wakes up he needs to rest well and can't get upset again. And about the company situation, I don't know how to handle it either."
"Mom, how much liquid capital do we have now?" Sherry frowned.
Emily thought for a moment, "About three hundred million dollars in liquid assets, not counting fixed assets."
The Scott family wasn't a major wealthy family after all.
Sherry was now extremely anxious. She had to find a way to avoid taking on Samuel's debts.
After Sherry left the hospital, she had the driver take her directly to the Johnson Group.
Right now the only option was to find Armando for help.
Unfortunately, she couldn't get into the Johnson Group.
The security guards stopped her as soon as they saw her.
Sherry never expected Armando to be so heartless!
She got in the car and called Armando, but couldn't get through. She could only call Tom instead.
Tom saw the caller ID and didn't answer.
Sherry called several times in a row before Tom finally picked up.
"Mr. Davis, I have something urgent. I need to see Armando."
Tom smiled, "Mr. Johnson is in a meeting right now. I'll pass along your message when the meeting ends."
Sherry didn't believe Tom's excuse. She hung up and decided to go directly to Emerald Park to intercept him.
When she went to Emerald Park, she happened to run into Verity pushing Sloane out for a walk, with bodyguards following them.
Sherry straightened her clothes and walked over with a smile, "Sloane, I haven't seen you in so long."
Sloane was still just a baby, so naturally couldn't talk yet.
When Sherry tried to pick up Sloane, Verity stopped her.
Sherry's face turned cold as she scolded angrily, "I'm Sloane's mother. I can't even hold her?"
Verity protected the stroller, saying awkwardly, "Ms. Scott, this..."
"This what? Did Armando tell you all not to let me hold the baby?"
As Sherry spoke, tears welled up in her eyes, "Don't I even have the right to hold my own child anymore?"
At Imperial Garden, two maids responsible for cleaning the master bedroom looked toward the safe while holding their cleaning cloths.
They exchanged glances and quickly replaced the original safe.
The master bedroom needed fresh sheets and bedding.
They wrapped the safe in the sheets and quickly left. Recently, Imperial Garden had become quite lax with staff and management because the two owners, Sherry and Armando, had broken up.
