Chapter 127 Emma Is Pregnant with Twins
# At the Hospital
Matthew accompanied Emma to her prenatal checkup.
The doctor told Emma that the fetus was developing normally.
She was carrying twins.
Emma, wearing maternity clothes, had a rosy complexion and seemed to have gained the gentle demeanor of motherhood.
The two of them left the hospital and returned to Greenview Mansion.
Emma took photos of the ultrasound images of the twins and sent them to Sam.
[Sam, please tell Mr. Robinson that I'm carrying twins. The doctor says everything is normal. I'm thanking Mr. Robinson on behalf of the children.]
After Emma finished sending the message, Matthew said to her, "Emma, you... never mind. Take good care of yourself during the pregnancy. I'm leaving now. Call me anytime if you need anything."
Matthew had been worried that Emma might regret giving the children to the Robinson family after they were born.
But with her pregnant belly, now wasn't the right time to discuss this topic.
Emma rolled her eyes at Matthew. "Matthew, just say what you want to say."
"Are you really decided on letting the Robinson family raise the children? I'm afraid you'll regret it."
Emma said calmly, "Matthew, this is the best arrangement for the children, and the Robinson family won't stop me from visiting them."
She lowered her eyes, hiding a fleeting smile.
Not only the children—she herself would marry into the Robinson family too.
---
After Matthew left Greenview Mansion, he frowned, feeling somewhat dissatisfied with Timothy.
If Timothy didn't plan to be with Emma, he shouldn't have gotten her pregnant.
He drove straight to TechStrong.
Elizabeth was still working at TechStrong.
When Matthew arrived at TechStrong, he first went to the office to find Yosef.
"Ms. Penrose, bring in a cup of unsweetened coffee." After hanging up the intercom, Yosef looked at Matthew and asked, "What brings you here so suddenly?"
Matthew nodded. "Mom's been looking for a fiancée for you lately. Do you have any interest in any of those socialites?"
Yosef raised an eyebrow. "I'm not interested in any of them. Don't we still have you in the family?"
Matthew surrendered. "Mom's noticed me too now. I'm too flirtatious and playful—those socialites have high standards and won't be interested in me."
He had no intention of getting married.
Both Matthew and Yosef had been trying to avoid Lyric lately.
Elizabeth knocked and brought coffee in for Matthew. She had just set down the coffee when she heard Matthew joke, "Ms. Penrose, because of you, Timothy hasn't come out for drinks with me in a long time."
Elizabeth smiled and raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Sutter, you can complain directly to Timothy."
She then left the office.
While Elizabeth was busy working, Matthew came out of the office. He walked to Elizabeth's desk and leaned against the partition. "Ms. Penrose, I have a question I'd like to ask you."
Elizabeth looked up from her busy work. "Ask."
"If one day—I'm just making up a scenario here—if one day Timothy suddenly had a child with another woman, what would you do?"
Elizabeth smiled politely for a moment, then said, "Sorry, I believe Mr. Robinson wouldn't do such a thing, so I won't answer your hypothetical question."
She looked Matthew up and down.
"Mr. Sutter, when making up scenarios, you should use yourself as the example—that would be more fitting."
"Fine, I'll use myself," Matthew continued calmly. "If I had a girlfriend, and then suddenly one day it came out that I had a child with another woman, would my girlfriend accept it?"
Elizabeth really thought Matthew's question was silly. "That depends on whether your girlfriend loves you, and what her personality is like. Given Mr. Sutter's status, having an illegitimate child outside would probably be normal."
The subtext was: you're so flirtatious, any girl who falls for you should be mentally prepared.
Matthew fell silent.
Matthew still didn't get the answer he wanted. Helplessly, he tried another approach. "What if my girlfriend had the same personality as you?"
Elizabeth needed to rush through her work since she was having dinner with Mr. Robinson tonight, so she quickly answered based on her own personality: "If it were me, I'd split the assets and move on with my life."
Having money and living on your own is pretty good too!
Matthew looked surprised. He looked at Elizabeth, then thought about how things ended between Elizabeth and Armando, and suddenly understood.
Maybe when Elizabeth found out Timothy already had children with Emma, she would choose to leave on her own.
Matthew didn't continue to disturb Elizabeth's work. He thanked her and left.
Elizabeth glanced at his retreating figure, then lowered her head to continue working.
---
That evening after work, Timothy came to pick up Elizabeth.
Elizabeth got in the car, took off her high heels, and changed into slippers with cute patterns.
She lifted herself up, leaned close to the driver's seat back, and kissed Timothy's ear.
"Mr. Robinson, what are we eating tonight?"
Timothy turned his head to look at her. "Why aren't you sitting in the passenger seat? Buckle your seatbelt—I'm about to drive."
Elizabeth sat properly and buckled her seatbelt before answering Timothy's question. "I'm sitting in back because I need to video call someone about work in a bit."
She needed to talk to Lyle about Quin Agency.
After she finished talking with Lyle, they still hadn't reached the restaurant.
Elizabeth closed her laptop and joked, "I'm telling you, Mr. Robinson, your girlfriend is about to faint from hunger."
"Sorry, we'll be there in a few minutes," Timothy explained. "A colleague told me there's a good restaurant on Cedar Lane."
"Fine, for good food, I'll endure a bit longer. My poor stomach will suffer for five more minutes." Elizabeth pretended to sigh.
Timothy's lips curved slightly upward.
Elizabeth's mention of her stomach reminded her of Matthew's strange questions.
She said to Timothy, "Your friend, Mr. Sutter, came to TechStrong today and asked me some weird questions."
"What?" Timothy indicated he was listening.
"He asked me what I would do if you had a child with someone else."
"Is he sick or something?"
That was Timothy's response.
Elizabeth held back her laughter and continued, "I said I believed in you, so I didn't answer his question. Then he used himself as an example to ask me."
"Do you think Mr. Sutter might have gotten some woman pregnant?"
Timothy found the restaurant, pulled into a parking spot, and stopped the car. "He doesn't have a wife or girlfriend. Even if he had a child with someone, he wouldn't need to worry."
"Then why did he ask me that kind of question?" Elizabeth also thought Timothy had a point, then continued speculating, "Could he have a secret crush on someone?"
Timothy unbuckled his seatbelt and turned to look at Elizabeth. "He probably doesn't have a secret crush on anyone. Get out, let's eat."
Matthew didn't seem like the type to have secret crushes.
---
Meanwhile, Emma was about to eat dinner when she received a call from Matthew.
"If Elizabeth found out you and Timothy had children, she'd probably choose to leave Timothy on her own. Emma, have you thought about telling Elizabeth about the pregnancy?"
Emma said calmly, "If she told Mr. Timothy Robinson, I might not be able to keep the children."
She happily shared something else with Matthew. "Matthew, when Mr. Manuel Robinson heard I was carrying twins, he arranged for a nanny who specializes in caring for pregnant women and children."
"He really values the children."
With Manuel caring so much about his grandchildren, Matthew felt reassured for Emma.
"Matthew, my only wish right now is to safely give birth to the children first."
