Chapter 107 Changing Heart Quickly
"Mr. Sherman has already left the country."
As Joe finished speaking, Timothy felt like he'd been punched in the gut.
Jake was basically someone who ignored the law.
He did whatever he wanted, and most importantly, he was as slippery as an eel.
Really annoying.
Timothy sat on the sofa and asked in a slightly cold voice, "Have all the surveillance footage from around Faith Residence been collected?"
He bent down to pick up the cigarette pack from the table, wanting to smoke.
But thinking of Elizabeth, he put the pack back down.
"There's footage showing Ian driving and parking in the parking lot on Riverbend Road."
"He walked to Faith Residence and entered the alley, then never appeared again. Also, a surveillance camera at one entrance to Faith Residence broke down a couple days ago."
"All we know now is that the police found the murder weapon in the sewer, and there's an eyewitness. The witness was smoking on their balcony at midnight and saw a short-haired woman walk into the alley. They only saw the woman's back, looked like Ms. Penrose."
What a coincidence that cameras just happened to be broken.
Timothy didn't speak, just thought things over.
Joe probably guessed Timothy wasn't in a good mood right now, so he waited quietly for instructions.
After thinking, Timothy said, "Send more people to investigate. Also, sabotage The Sherman Group's IT computer systems."
The Sherman Group's main business was online shopping and cloud services, ranked sixth globally.
No matter which company, they all valued their IT computer systems. Trying to sabotage their IT equipment would be quite difficult.
Joe frowned slightly, "Mr. Sherman, he'll also try to attack the Robinson Group's IT systems."
He clearly didn't agree with this approach.
"It's fine. The Robinson Group recently strengthened protection in that area. The losses won't be big," Timothy said casually. "My dad can handle it."
Timothy's own private companies, except for the public software company, were all kept tightly under wraps.
Even Jake kept his private business very secretive.
Joe's mouth twitched.
He actually had reason to suspect Timothy was doing this because he was annoyed by what Manuel said last time.
Manuel and Timothy, this father and son, were always at odds.
Joe brought up another matter, "The engagement ring will be ready in about a week, but the dress still needs time."
Custom-made dresses, from cutting to shaping, plus embroidery and jewelry setting—all these complex handcrafts took time.
Hearing this, Timothy's thin lips curved up slightly, his expression softening.
Imperial Garden.
Sherry received a reply from Mr. Davis.
Armando would be home tonight.
She prepared a candlelit dinner and changed into a white slip dress, sitting on the sofa waiting for him to come home.
While bored and flipping through TV channels, her phone received a message from an unknown number.
[Elizabeth seems to have killed someone]
Sherry immediately sat up straight.
Whose prank was this?
She suddenly remembered that at the engagement party, Armando seemed to mention Elizabeth. Could it be because of this?
Sherry called her relative and asked him to help check whether Elizabeth was suspected of murder.
Her relative quickly replied.
This kind of thing didn't involve specific details and didn't need to be kept secret.
[Yes, but the evidence isn't sufficient yet. However, she's the main suspect]
Sherry looked at the message and smiled.
Mindy would probably be thrilled to hear this news.
Sherry told Mindy about it.
Good news should be shared.
Sherry had just sent the message to Mindy when Armando came home.
Sherry quickly exited the chat screen, placed her phone face-down on the table, then got up and walked toward Armando.
Armando had bought flowers for Sherry.
Sherry couldn't stop smiling with delight.
"Sorry, I've been very busy lately."
Sherry blinked and said playfully with a smile, "I'll forgive you this time. I'll be busy going to the show in a couple days. How about our family goes on a trip these next two days?"
Armando first called Tom to ask about his schedule for the next couple days.
He had Tom postpone the unimportant appointments, then after hanging up, told Sherry, "Sure."
Sherry went upstairs with Armando, holding the flowers. She forgot to take her phone.
But with the phone in the living room, no one would dare take it.
The nanny Verity was holding Sloane and walked into the living room.
Sloane saw the pretty phone case on the table and reached out to touch it.
Verity gently coaxed her, "That's mommy's phone, you can't touch it."
Sloane stretched out her chubby little hand.
Verity held her and bent down, letting Sloane touch the phone case.
When no one was paying attention, Verity flipped the phone face-up. The phone was locked and needed fingerprint unlock.
She placed it face-down again.
"Sloane, sweetie, just touch it twice, then we'll go look at the flowers."
Verity carried Sloane to the back garden to look at flowers.
Soon after, Sherry ran downstairs to get her phone, then ran off to find a vase.
When Armando came out of the shower, he glanced at the flowers he'd bought. The red roses had been placed in a vase.
Blooming brightly.
He remembered Elizabeth mentioning that her favorite was blue roses, not red ones.
Armando changed into loungewear and went downstairs.
Verity was just walking into the living room holding Sloane. She greeted Armando, "Mr. Johnson."
Sloane saw Armando, her round eyes very cute, reaching out for a hug.
Armando didn't often hold Sloane.
His cool demeanor didn't scare Sloane. She was still a tiny baby who only knew how to drink milk and sleep.
Verity asked kindly, "Mr. Johnson, would you like to hold Ms. Johnson?"
Armando agreed and reached out to take Sloane.
Armando held Sloane with one hand under her bottom and one hand supporting her back.
Verity reminded Armando it was better to hold her with both hands, otherwise Sloane would want to cry.
Sloane was a fussy baby.
Sherry came out of the dining room and saw Armando awkwardly holding Sloane. She covered her mouth and laughed.
She took a photo of the father and daughter.
After taking the photo, she walked over, "Don't you see your daughter is uncomfortable?"
Sloane waved her hands and squirmed. She didn't cry, just squirmed.
Armando helplessly handed Sloane to Verity.
Verity carried Sloane upstairs.
Downstairs, Armando and Sherry were having their candlelit dinner, and the servants had left the living room.
Armando and Sherry went to the dining room. He glanced at the dishes on the table—tonight the chef had cooked.
The two seemed to have a pleasant atmosphere during the candlelit dinner.
During the meal, Sherry talked to Armando about her own matters.
Armando occasionally gave her advice.
Usually after eating, Armando would go to the study first to handle business.
Sherry would return to the bedroom and sit on the sofa doing a face mask.
That's when Mindy called her.
"Sherry, I just saw the message you sent. Is it true or false? Elizabeth actually killed someone?"
Mindy's tone was shocked.
This was too scary.
"Not sure, she's just a suspect," Sherry said gently. "It's probably not true. Just listen to this story, it has nothing to do with us anyway."
Mindy nodded and replied, "I know."
Since Armando was home tonight, Sherry didn't continue the topic about Elizabeth and chatted with Mindy about other things.
At eleven o'clock at night.
Sherry was already lying in bed.
She'd checked the time several times. Armando was still in the study.
It had been a long time since he'd been intimate with her.
When a man doesn't touch a woman, that man is either about to change his heart, or his ability to make love isn't working.
Just as Sherry was frowning and overthinking, the bedroom door opened and Armando walked in.
He rubbed his temples and glanced at Sherry on the bed, "Why aren't you asleep yet?"
"Waiting for you," Sherry sat up. One strap of her nightgown slipped off, revealing a large expanse of skin. "I thought you wanted to keep sleeping in the study tonight."
Armando took off his clothes, paused, "I'll take a shower first."
Just as he turned around, Sherry's resentful voice came from the bed, "Have you changed your heart?"
