Chapter 105 Do Not Make Me Angry
Elizabeth and Timothy returned to Faith Residence and only then learned why Ivan was looking for her.
Last night, there was a murder near Faith Residence.
The victim was Ian, the old man Natalia married.
"Miss Penrose, we found a photo with your fingerprints in the victim's wallet, and there are messages between you and him on his phone. Please come with us to the station to give a statement."
Elizabeth immediately thought of the vintage dress Natalia wore yesterday - she had also worn gloves.
Natalia had set her up.
And the phone - Natalia must have been using Ian's phone to send her messages all along.
Timothy frowned slightly, "She was with me all last night."
Ivan looked Timothy over, "What's your relationship?"
Timothy replied, "Boyfriend and girlfriend."
Ivan turned to Elizabeth, "The last message we saw on the victim's phone was about meeting you. Both of you need to come to the station with us to give statements."
"Okay, we'll cooperate."
Even at a time like this, Elizabeth remembered to tell Timothy, "Please ask Yosef for some time off for me."
Model employee behavior.
Timothy ruffled her hair, "Okay."
Timothy and Elizabeth arrived at the police station.
Timothy could leave after giving his statement, but Elizabeth needed to be temporarily detained.
As Timothy walked out of the station, he instructed Joe beside him, "Arrange for a lawyer. Where is Natalia now?"
"The lawyer is arranged. Our people found that after Natalia left Miss Penrose at the park yesterday, she took a boat to the harbor."
"You mean before Ian died last night, Natalia had already left Silverlight City? She has an alibi."
Joe frowned and reported another matter, "Around midnight last night, the cameras at Carlton Hotel malfunctioned."
If there were hotel surveillance footage, it would at least prove Elizabeth didn't leave the hotel that night.
Timothy thought for a moment, "First, try to get bail for Elizabeth. This was premeditated. Natalia couldn't have pulled this off alone."
Today was a bad day for some people, but a great day for others.
The day of Armando and Sherry's engagement.
Many guests were coming and going through the entrance of Carlton Hotel.
Beatrix received many congratulations. Though unhappy inside, she politely thanked everyone.
This Sherry was really hard to manage - she hadn't consulted with Beatrix about a single thing regarding the entire engagement party.
Completely inappropriate!
At least Elizabeth used to listen to her.
At this moment, in the dressing room.
Sherry looked at her beautiful reflection in the mirror, her eyes sparkling, and smiled.
Sherry's mother, Emily Sinclair, was holding Sloane. When only the two of them were left in the dressing room, she spoke up, "You and Armando already have a child, why not get married directly?"
Emily was actually a bit dissatisfied. Normally, before an engagement, both families would formally meet.
But Armando hadn't visited The Scott Mansion at all.
And Beatrix's attitude when speaking to them was simply condescending.
Sherry turned her chair to face Emily, "Armando doesn't want me to have any regrets, that's why he wanted to have the engagement party first."
Though Emily still found it strange, she couldn't control young people's thinking nowadays.
Sherry was marrying up.
At this moment, Mindy pushed the door open. She greeted Emily first, then looked at Sherry, "Sherry, you look so beautiful today."
Sherry smiled, blinking her pretty eyes, "I'm beautiful every day."
Mindy said, "From now on, we'll be family."
Sherry smiled shyly, giving Mindy a playful look, her smile charming.
Sherry was truly happy today.
"Sherry, I'll go wait for you at the banquet hall." Mindy was actually rushing out to see Yosef, who had also been invited to the engagement party.
At this time, in the engagement banquet hall outside.
"Congratulations to Mr. Johnson and Ms. Scott, may lovers finally be together."
Yosef came today too. He smiled and congratulated Armando. On such a happy occasion, he wouldn't cause trouble for Armando.
After congratulating him, seeing Armando's expression as cold as ever, Yosef raised an eyebrow, "You should smile, don't be so cold."
The two of them standing together chatting amicably attracted the guests' attention.
TechStrong had recently not only won the Stellar Industries Group contract but also several major deals from the Johnson Group.
Armando just gave Yosef a cool look.
At this moment, Yosef's phone rang. He answered - it was Timothy calling.
Elizabeth needed to take time off.
"Miss Penrose needs time off? Okay, I understand." Yosef wanted to ask why Elizabeth was taking leave, but remembering it was Timothy on the other end, he chose not to ask.
Yosef hung up. Just as he wanted to talk more with this fake gentleman Armando, Armando had already turned and left.
Yosef raised an eyebrow, thinking to himself how strange it was that Armando, having married his beloved, still looked so cold.
Armando went to the lounge.
He took out his phone and looked at the email his subordinate had sent.
Elizabeth had been detained.
Armando immediately called Tom, "Get the car ready, we're going to the police station."
Tom looked at his watch. The engagement ceremony was about to start. Armando was leaving now?
In the dressing room.
Emily looked up at the clock, "Yes, it's almost time. I'll have the nanny come in to hold Sloane."
Just as she finished speaking, Mindy pushed the door open, "Sherry, I don't know what happened, but the engagement party is being delayed by two hours."
Sherry froze instantly. Her hands unconsciously clenched as she bit her red lips. Why didn't Armando tell her personally about delaying the engagement party?
Emily frowned, "What could be more important than the engagement party?"
This was a bit too much.
Mindy shook her head. She was puzzled too. Many guests had arrived, and Armando suddenly delaying was very surprising. "Armando didn't say."
"I'll call Armando to ask. Something must have happened, otherwise he wouldn't do this."
Sherry blinked her stinging eyes, took the phone from Emily, and called Armando.
Armando saw Sherry's incoming call. He frowned, thinking of his plan.
If he went to the police station now, it would attract Timothy's attention. "Let's go back to the engagement party. Tom, you go to the police station as a friend to find out what's going on."
Tom nodded, "Okay."
Armando answered Sherry's call. After she finished speaking, "Don't worry, I was just joking with the guests."
Though Sherry was still a bit suspicious, she didn't ask more questions at this time. She said softly, "I'll wait for you."
Sherry smiled and told Emily and Mindy, "Armando said he was just joking."
Mindy covered her mouth and laughed, "Armando never used to joke. He must be very happy."
Armando's car had just left Carlton Hotel not long ago, so ten minutes later, he returned to the engagement venue.
The engagement ceremony was very complicated, with some procedures already omitted.
Otto was on stage keeping the atmosphere lively.
Sherry wore a gown and looked very beautiful. Standing next to the elegant and noble Armando, they really were a perfect match.
The stage also showed moments from their time together, ending with a photo of the family of three.
After the engagement party ended.
Armando and Sherry returned to Imperial Garden. He went to the study while Sherry went to remove her makeup and shower first.
After Sherry finished showering, she posted photos from today's engagement on Instagram with the caption: [Got engaged to the one I love today, so happy!]
The comments section received many blessings from fans.
Sherry happily went to the study, wanting to share the fans' comments with Armando.
Armando was on the phone with Tom at that moment, discussing Elizabeth's situation.
When Sherry knocked and entered, she just happened to hear Elizabeth's name. She dropped the smile from her face.
Armando frowned and glanced at Sherry before hanging up.
Sherry was increasingly suspicious that Armando was hiding something from her. "Are you done with work?"
"Yes."
Hearing this answer, she smiled and walked over to share the fans' interesting comments with him.
"Armando, were you happy today?"
She asked him with a smile.
Armando looked down at Sherry's beaming smile and said coolly, "Happy. I have something I need to deal with right now. You should rest early."
Without even changing his clothes, he hurried toward the study door.
As Armando was about to leave the study, Sherry turned with red eyes and questioned him, "Do you regret getting engaged to me? Today is our engagement day, how can you just leave like this?"
She walked over and hugged Armando from behind, her face pressed against his back. "If you regret it, just say so. I'll leave with Sloane right away!"
Armando's eyes darkened slightly, "Sherry, don't overthink it. I really have something to deal with."
"I just heard Elizabeth's name. Does it have to do with her?"
Sherry lowered her eyes and questioned him.
Armando said in a low voice, "It has nothing to do with her. Elizabeth already has Timothy by her side. I really do have company matters."
Armando had Sherry release him, then turned around. His long fingers lifted her chin as he kissed her forehead.
"You've been tired all day too. Get some good rest."
After saying this, he strode out of the study.
Sherry couldn't believe it - he actually left like that?
Jake was holding his computer playing a game, his gentle face smiling as he blew off his opponent's head.
While playing, he talked on the phone with Armando.
"I thought you wouldn't be able to control yourself and would run to the police station today," he chuckled. "Good thing you didn't go in the end, otherwise I wouldn't have chosen to continue working with you."
Armando's expression was neutral, "You called just to say this?"
"No, I wanted to tell you I did something for you for free," Jake blew off another enemy's head and laughed. "I kindly sent Miss Penrose's sister to feed the fish in the sea. Now it's time for your hero-saves-the-beauty moment. I'm sending you a video."
Armando's eyes turned cold. He pressed his thin lips together.
Jake was someone who acted completely on whim.
Armando said coldly, "Please don't do this kind of thing next time. Our cooperation is only about dealing with Timothy."
Jake's gentle, jade-like face showed a smile, "My good deed goes unrewarded? What should I do? I suddenly find Miss Penrose really beautiful and have become interested in her. What should I do?"
Armando's face darkened.
Jake stopped playing his game, "Don't make me angry. I'm not even afraid of Timothy, why would I fear you, a small president of the Johnson Group?"
