Chapter 101 Crazy Passion
Elizabeth and Timothy didn't head back right away after leaving the Sunrise Pub.
Elizabeth asked Indigo to take Jessa home first.
She quietly settled into the passenger seat.
Timothy got behind the wheel.
As he started the car, he called out, "Hey, Elizabeth."
Elizabeth blinked her slightly reddened eyes, staring out the window.
Thinking about that jerk Michael brought back memories of humiliation and her previous miscarriage.
All she ever wanted was simple—a stable home.
But sometimes, getting a stable home was anything but simple.
"Elizabeth, look at me."
He stopped the car and looked at her intently.
Outside, the city lights sparkled, but inside, it was just the two of them in silence.
Elizabeth's eyelashes fluttered as she turned her head, her gaze fixed downward.
Timothy sighed, unbuckled his seatbelt, and leaned over, cupping her face in his hands.
"What am I supposed to look at?" Elizabeth asked hoarsely.
Timothy stared into her slightly reddened eyes, planting a gentle kiss on her brow. A faint smile played on his lips. "I'm here to help you forget your worries."
Elizabeth pressed her lips together.
Timothy sat back, buckled his seatbelt, and placed his hands on the steering wheel. He started the engine, and the car gradually left the bustling city, heading onto the highway.
"Elizabeth, put on your sunglasses."
Obediently, Elizabeth put on her sunglasses.
As they reached a stretch of road where he could speed up, Timothy pressed the gas pedal.
The window on Elizabeth's side was open, and the wind blew in, messing up her hair.
It felt like all her worries were being carried away by the wind.
At a rest stop, they got out to buy water and use the restroom before continuing their journey.
Elizabeth didn't ask Timothy where they were headed.
She cupped her hand over her mouth to block the wind and started singing one of her old songs.
"This life, just like this, every day, every minute, every second, the blood flows slowly."
"Living like this, just like this."
She intentionally sang off-key, and after a couple of lines, she stopped.
After all, it was late at night, and her howling could scare people.
Even though it was just her and Timothy.
Timothy chuckled.
It was the first time he heard her sing so badly.
It was awful.
As the first light of dawn appeared on the horizon, the car finally stopped.
Surrounded by mountains and roads, they squatted by the roadside.
Elizabeth was munching on dry instant noodles, feeding Timothy a bite after every bite she took.
It was wild.
It was the kind of thing that made your adrenaline spike.
They were no longer in Silverlight City; they were approaching Regal City.
Elizabeth bit into her dry noodles. "Timothy, I want a kiss."
Timothy glanced at the road, which was devoid of traffic.
He nodded.
A tingling sensation spread across their tongues.
"Why are my instant noodles spicy?" Elizabeth complained, her breath unsteady. "They're making my tongue numb."
The noodles in her hand had no seasoning, so they shouldn't have been spicy.
Timothy nodded seriously. "Sorry, I must have bought the wrong kind."
Their minds always seemed to be in sync.
Their conversations were always so whimsical.
"I want to taste that spiciness again," Elizabeth said, eyeing Timothy's lips.
Timothy couldn't help but laugh. "Alright."
He cupped the back of her head with his large hand.
They squatted by the roadside, the rising sun casting its light on them.
Elizabeth frowned and concluded, "Dragon's Breath pepper?"
Her tongue was almost numb.
There was a type of pepper in the world known as Dragon's Breath, the spiciest variety.
Timothy tried to hold back his laughter but failed. "Yes, Dragon's Breath pepper."
Elizabeth's eyes curved into a bright smile.
She was radiant and vibrant.
Timothy's lips curved into a smile, his eyes darkening slightly.
Elizabeth stood up and extended her hand. Timothy raised an eyebrow and placed his hand in hers.
She pulled him up.
He stood up smoothly.
Elizabeth wrapped one arm around his neck and looked up. "Timothy, let's get back in the car. I'm tired."
Timothy opened the back seat door. Elizabeth climbed in and rested her head against the seat.
He followed her in, pulling her into his arms.
She nuzzled her face against his chest, yawned, and closed her eyes.
"Get some sleep."
Once Elizabeth was asleep, Timothy closed his eyes to rest as well.
Driving all night was exhausting.
Their hands remained tightly clasped together.
When they woke up again, they didn't head straight back to Silverlight City. Instead, they entered Regal City.
They chose a motel to shower and rest.
Before showering, Elizabeth followed a video blogger's advice and checked the room for hidden cameras.
Timothy stood with his arms crossed, waiting for Elizabeth to finish her inspection.
"It's safe."
As soon as she said that, Timothy quickly scooped her up and carried her into the bathroom.
"Save time, let's shower together."
"Okay."
"Timothy, you're amazing."
After driving all night, he still had so much energy.
The sound of running water couldn't mask the intimacy inside.
Timothy chuckled, grabbing a towel to dry her off.
Showering together didn't save time at all.
Timothy carried her out of the bathroom, her body soft and relaxed.
"I'm going to ask the motel owner if there's any food. Don't fall asleep, okay?"
If she fell asleep, she wouldn't be able to eat.
Timothy changed his clothes. Fortunately, he had spare clothes in the car. He left the room.
Elizabeth picked up her phone from the nightstand and saw a message. She opened it.
It was a scrambled contact message from Verity, the nanny placed near Sloane.
Sherry had found out that Elizabeth knew Jessa.
Elizabeth thought for a moment and sent a message to Lyle, asking him to investigate how Jessa ended up singing at the bar last night.
She also sent a message to Jessa, "Miss Greer, I will arrange for two bodyguards to protect you."
Timothy returned with two boxes of food.
Elizabeth lay on the bed, posing like a seductive pin-up girl.
She bent one long leg and placed her slender hand on her knee.
She asked, "Timothy, when are you going to propose to me?"
