Chapter 140: Why Not?
Chapter 140: Why Not?
"Why not?" he said indifferently, as if it were all perfectly natural.
Charlotte's face darkened. What the hell did this bastard take her for? Why not? Fuck you!
"Mr. Wilson, first of all, I'm not one of your Wilson Group artists, so I don't have to follow your orders. Second, I don't like those unspoken rules, and even if I did, it wouldn't be your turn to pull them on me. You know very well that the men around me are just as good as you in terms of wealth, power, and looks. Whether you're bored or actually lonely, please stop hitting on me. When you're divorced, act like it, OK?" She spoke casually, a sharp, smug smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
A vicious look shot toward her like an arrow, staring at her with cold sharpness. "Charlotte, you've gotten bold."
Alexander's charming eyes now held a sharp, piercing light, that kind of icy arrogance that kept people at a distance, exposed right in front of her. The air around them seemed to turn cold.
Charlotte pursed her lips. "I've always been bold. If there's nothing else, please leave quickly. I need to go home and get my beauty sleep."
She ruthlessly showed him the door. You can't give this kind of jerk any face, because the moment you give him a little sunshine, he becomes incredibly bright.
Charlotte had pretty much figured out his temper. He was the difficult type who didn't respond to either soft or hard approaches, but the more timid you were in front of him, the more pleased he got. So even if you had no confidence, you had to put on a tough act to deal with him—maybe you'd have a chance at a draw. Otherwise, you'd better call your parents to come collect your body!
"If you dare get involved with anyone else, you'll die miserably. Of course, they'll have it even worse!" Alexander leaned down and whispered in her ear, then straightened up, his eyes cold as ice, clearly threatening.
Charlotte didn't get angry but laughed instead. "Mr. Wilson, did you forget to take your medicine? What I do is none of your business. We don't have any relationship, do we!"
You want to act all domineering in front of me? Just because you're a CEO doesn't mean you're actually some domineering CEO. My business is none of your concern. Get lost!
"No relationship?" He narrowed his eyes and scanned her body. "The night before last, do you know how passionate you were? The way you begged beneath me was truly enchanting."
Charlotte glared at him furiously. "Didn't you enjoy it too?"
This damn jerk, damn him!
"We already agreed not to bring this up. If you threaten me with this again, I won't let you off!" Charlotte made her threat.
"I look forward to it." He smiled dismissively and pressed his body toward her.
Charlotte was stunned by his sudden move, then reached out to push him away. Alexander pressed tightly against her chest as if trying to mold her into his body, his warm lips wandering on her neck. After struggling for a while, in desperation Charlotte grabbed a certain part of his body that was already responding and pressed hard, glaring at him breathlessly with angry eyes. "Move again and I'll make sure you can never be a man again!"
Alexander let out a low grunt and forcefully covered her hand that was about to commit violence with his own. "If you have the guts, make me unable to be a man right now. Otherwise..."
A hint of ambiguous desire flashed in his cold eyes as he growled softly in her ear: "Otherwise I'll make sure you can't get out of bed."
Charlotte clearly felt him growing larger, burning hot in her palm. She wanted to struggle but couldn't break free, which only made Alexander's eyes grow hazier.
"Don't move!" he growled, his sharp gaze fixed on her.
Charlotte was both furious and embarrassed. Alexander's hand shamelessly pressed on the back of hers so she couldn't pull away. She really regretted using this move—she never expected that Alexander, who always wore an icy expression, could be so shameless and unreasonable. This was completely different from the person she used to know!
Charlotte was so embarrassed she wanted to cry but had no tears. For a moment she really didn't know what to do, so the two of them just glared at each other in this shameless position.
"Mr. Wilson, please remove your hand." Charlotte was so embarrassed that fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead.
Alexander withdrew his hand very seriously but kept his eyes fixed on her, speaking flatly: "Let's go to the hotel."
"What for!" Charlotte felt something was off about this tone...
"To watch a disc."
"Huh!" What?
Alexander spoke very seriously. "That day Dean left his filming equipment in my hotel room, so I casually tested it to see if the pixels were clear. Turns out the picture was super clear and high quality audio too. Pretty good actually."
Filming equipment? Pixels? High quality audio?
Charlotte got angry. This damn jerk actually recorded the whole thing!
How could there be such a shameless bastard in this world!
Charlotte tried to punch him in the face, but her fist was caught by a large hand halfway. She glared at him through gritted teeth and said seriously: "What exactly do you want!
Alexander shrugged. "Just keeping a memento."
Charlotte was so angry she almost spat blood, pointing her finger at his face, too angry to speak!
He actually dared to threaten her with this. Shameless!
"Going or not? Your choice!" He crossed his arms over his chest and looked at her with a playboy expression.
Charlotte struggled for a long time, then finally glared at him coldly, wishing she could eat his flesh and drink his blood. After a long pause she said, "Alexander, you're ruthless!"
Alexander calmly got out of the car, walked to a nearby Bugatti Veyron, bent down and got in. Charlotte followed, her eyes shooting fire.
Alexander, you better not let me catch you slipping, because I guarantee you'll die a very, very ugly death!
John shook his head helplessly and said to Melissa, "Come on, I'll take you back."
"But Charlotte..." Melissa already understood about seventy or eighty percent of what was going on.
"It's fine, our CEO will take her back in a bit." He got in the car after speaking.
Melissa looked at her departing figure with complicated eyes and also got in, still unable to quite process what exactly was happening.
The whole night, a certain woman was thoroughly devoured by a certain proud and scheming man in various positions, and when she got up she could barely stand.
"This is the last time. If you dare threaten me again, I'll kill you!" Charlotte stomped the master disc to pieces right in front of him, her eyes red with anger as she glared coldly at the properly dressed man in front of her.
Alexander glanced at her indifferently. "Leaving or not?"
"I don't need your fake kindness. Get lost!" Charlotte put on her sunglasses and stormed out of the room angrily.
Behind her, Alexander smiled cunningly. Charlotte, you can't escape!
Charlotte dragged her exhausted body back to her doorstep. As soon as she got out of the car, she saw Elsa hugging her knees, her head buried in her stomach, squatting at her door, looking utterly pitiful and helpless.
"What are you doing here?" Charlotte asked strangely. It looked like she'd been there for quite a while.
Elsa lifted her face. Her usually beautiful, delicate face was covered with several marks, her lip was split, she had obvious dark circles, and looked completely exhausted—nothing like her usual glamorous appearance.
"Charlotte, I'm finished." She spoke, and tears immediately streamed down.
Charlotte pulled her inside, poured her a glass of water, took out the medicine box to clean her wounds, then asked, "What happened?"
Elsa's confused gaze gradually focused. "My stepmother found out about my identity. She's threatening me to give her seven million dollars or she'll expose my secret. What do I do?"
Charlotte's brows furrowed. She knew about Elsa's situation. When she was eight, her parents divorced due to a bad relationship. Her sister went away with her mother while she was awarded to her father Jesse Ellis. Their family circumstances were very poor back then, and they only got by thanks to frequent help from the Taylor family. Six months later, Jesse brought home a mother and daughter from a bar, which completely changed her fate.
Her stepmother Juniper Kelly and stepsister Rainey Ellis beat her every day, and the terrible thing was that Jesse actually helped them bully her too. It wasn't until she was fourteen that she found her biological mother and sister, but in the end, her mother actually sold her to the fifty-something bachelor next door for the "high price" of fifty thousand dollars to have his children, all for her sister's study abroad tuition. If she hadn't secretly called Ian back then, she would have been done for.
After fourteen, she lived with the Taylor family. Because her status had changed, Juniper didn't dare bully her anymore. She and her cousin Sophia had been close sisters since childhood, but when Sophia had someone try to kill her, Elsa's heart turned cold.
Only later did Charlotte understand the reason for her arrogant and wild behavior back then—she didn't want others to see the pain in her heart, so she had to act difficult and willful. Actually, when you got down to it, she was also a pitiful person.
Everyone has a story behind them, but no one would have thought that Thea, who stood in the spotlight back then so confident, arrogant, beautiful and sexy, had such a fragile side.
Compared to Thea, she didn't know how much luckier she was, so she was content with the past and satisfied with the present.
"You can't give them this money. If there's a first time, there'll be a second. If you give them money and they have leverage over you, you'll have even less peace in the future."
"But what can I do? If Rainey exposes my past, I'm finished. I won't be able to survive." Elsa's face looked terrible, her nerves stretched to near breaking point.
Charlotte also looked tense as she comforted her. "Remember, you're Elsa now. You have nothing to do with Thea. Thea died in that fire five years ago. No matter what they say, we just won't admit it, understand?"
"But Jesse has DNA verification reports. They came prepared this time." Large tears rolled down her cheeks, Elsa's face frighteningly pale.
