Chapter 106 Sophia Also Wants to Learn Skills

Ryan slightly raised his chin, his tone indifferent, "What's up?"

Sophia leaned languidly against the car door, her big eyes fluttering, and she bit her lip flirtatiously while looking at him, "Can't I see you if nothing is going on?"

Amelia wanted to slap her; she had never seen such a shameless woman.

Flirting with Ryan right in front of her.

Ryan's patience had worn thin, and he said coldly, "If there's nothing, please move aside and don't delay us from getting in the car."

Seeing his ruthlessness, Sophia was slightly stunned and then stood up straight She directly stated her purpose. "Ryan, don't you think it's awkward for Amelia to be hanging around my grandpa all the time? Can you stop her from coming?"

Ryan sneered and looked down at her, "Do you know what you look like right now?"

Sophia was puzzled and asked, "Like what?"

Ryan enunciated each word, "Like a clown."

With that, he raised his hand and mercilessly pushed Sophia aside. He opened the car door and got in with Amelia.

The driver started the car and drove far away.

Sophia remained in place, her eyes filled with resentment as she glared at Ryan's car, her face pale. She felt utterly defeated as if she had fallen into an ice cave.

It wasn't until the car was out of sight that she slowly turned around and walked towards Antique Charm.

Inside the store, Royce was standing at the counter and holding a large magnifying glass to study an embossed glass bowl.

Sophia swayed her hips as she walked up to him, speaking in a coquettish voice, "Grandpa, you don't care about me at all."

Royce adjusted his reading glasses and looked at her expressionlessly, "If it's still about Amelia, forget it."

The words Sophia was about to say were swallowed back.

She then said defiantly, "I want to be your apprentice too."

Royce pushed the embossed glass bowl in front of her.

Royce asked, "Then tell me, is this embossed glass real or fake? From which era? What technique?"

Sophia leaned in and stroked the patterns on the bowl, but after a long time, she couldn't say a word.

She touched her nose and said sheepishly, "Grandpa, you haven't taught me, how am I supposed to know?"

Royce took back the embossed glass bowl and said indifferently, "Before I taught Amelia, she could tell."

Sophia slapped her hand on the counter in anger, "You're biased towards her, I'm your granddaughter. If you teach me well, I can be a thousand times better than Amelia."

Royce said nothing, just bent down and took out a large puzzle box from under the counter, pushing it in front of Sophia, "If you want to learn, you can start by completing this puzzle, and I'll take you as an apprentice."

Sophia looked at the densely packed puzzle pieces in the box and frowned, "That's a lot, how many pieces are there?"

Royce replied, "Eight thousand four hundred pieces."

Sophia's head was about to explode, "Grandpa, you're deliberately making it hard for me, aren't you?"

Royce straightened up and looked at her, "If you can't even do something this simple, how can you learn from me? Do you think restoring antique paintings and embossed glass is a joke? Even Amelia, who is a painter, has the patience to persist. It comes down to you being spoiled since childhood. If you can't endure this hardship, forget it."

Sophia was choked up. She was so excellent and noble, raised like a princess. How could she lose to that country bumpkin who grew up in the mountains without even trying?

If Amelia could do it, so could she.

She said unconvincedly, "I don't care, I want to learn from you!"

Royce said sternly, "Finish this puzzle first, then you can learn from me."

"I will finish it!" Sophia snorted defiantly and left with the puzzle.

Meanwhile, in the car, Ryan asked Amelia, "You didn't get upset today?"

Amelia shook her head, "Really, I didn't. Jessa said a couple of nasty things, but I retorted, and Mr. Greer was very protective of me."

She then curiously asked, "You all say I look like Serenity, can you tell me about her?"

Hearing Serenity's name, Ryan's eyes darkened.

After a moment, he said, "Serenity was like a sister to my mom, a very good person, and she was very kind to me."

Amelia grew more curious, "Do you have a picture of her?"

Ryan said, "Mom should have one, you can ask her for it."

Amelia agreed and then took out her phone to send Scarlett a message on WhatsApp.

Soon, Scarlett sent a group photo. In the photo, two young women in their twenties stood side by side under a locust tree, posing intimately with victory signs, smiling brightly.

The one on the left was a young Scarlett.

The one on the right was Serenity, with a naturally perfect oval face and a bright smile, especially her sparkling eyes, giving a gentle and refreshing feeling.

Even now, Serenity would be considered a top beauty.

Amelia gently stroked Serenity's face on the phone screen and sincerely admired, "She's really beautiful."

Ryan glanced at the photo and said, "Unfortunately, beauty is fleeting."

Amelia remembered something and asked, "I heard from Zoey that Serenity went mad after her daughter died?"

Ryan responded indifferently and raised his hand to rub his brow, looking like he didn't want to talk about it.

Seeing his lack of interest, Amelia didn't ask further. She stared at Serenity's smiling face for a while longer and felt inexplicably sad.

Such a gentle and beautiful person, driven mad just like that.

The next day at lunchtime.

Amelia and Emory went to a restaurant near the antique market for lunch. They each ordered something simple and sat across from each other, eating quietly.

Halfway through the meal, a man carrying a plate of ribs sat down in the empty seat next to Amelia.

He placed his bowl heavily on the table.

Amelia instinctively looked up and saw it was her gambling-addicted father, Eugene.

Eugene picked up a rib and started chewing it skillfully, then said sarcastically, "My daughter is eating well while her father can't even afford a meal."

Amelia tightened her grip on her utensils and retorted, "If you had treated my mom better back then, I wouldn't let you gnaw on bones while I eat meat."

Seeing her respond, Eugene softened his tone and looked at her, "Amelia, no matter what, I'm still your father. I'm really at the end of my rope now, can you lend me a million dollars?"

Amelia thought for a moment and asked, "What about the money you took?"

Eugene covered his face and cried, "I lost it all gambling."

"When you took off with Grandpa's money without a word, you should have expected to end up alone and despised." Amelia suddenly felt very sad.

Eugene's face turned fierce and he threatened, "If you don't give me the money, I'll go to your workplace and tell everyone how selfish and heartless you are!"

Amelia laughed and realized Emily was right. You could see a person's true character after a breakup.

A man who cheated and had a child during marriage took off with Carl's huge auction proceeds. He didn't care about Elara, Emily, or Amelia without any humanity.

Even now, his vile nature hadn't changed.

Emory, who had been quietly eating across from her, slammed his utensils on the table. He stood up, grabbed Eugene's arm, and dragged him out.

Everyone's eyes were on them and whispered. But Eugene didn't seem embarrassed at all as if he was used to it.

Amelia admired Eugene's shamelessness.

After Emory sent Eugene away, he returned to finish his meal.

After they finished eating, they left the restaurant, and Emory escorted Amelia to Antique Charm.

He watched her enter the store, then squatted under a tree's shade by the roadside. He was quietly smoking and waiting for her to get off work, as Ryan had instructed him to protect and monitor her.

As soon as Amelia entered the store, she saw Eugene at the counter.

Seeing her, Eugene grinned maliciously, "Amelia, we meet again!"
