Betrayal from Blood
Betrayal from Blood
Stumbling through the debris, Valerie somehow entered the wing of the infirmary and to her surprise, there had been no explosion to this wing.
She had acquired a few injuries along the way but the explosions had seemed to pause for a few moments and Valerie quickened her pace, bursting in through the giant doors of the infirmary.
The infirmary was empty and her eyes fell on Jenna's sleeping body in the same bed that she had been in for the last two nights since their return from Dragary.
Valerie rushed over to her, breathing in a sigh of relief when she saw the regular rising and falling of her chest.
"Jenna, come on, wake up, there has been an attack." Valerie said as she reached out to touch Jenna's arm to shake her.
However, right at that moment, Jenna's hand wrapped around Valerie's wrist and she twisted the brunette's arm behind her back in a painful gesture, making Valerie's hiss loudly, not understanding what was happening.
"Hello, sister." Jenna breathed in her ear.
"Jenna, what—"
Valerie's words died down in her throat as Jenna stabbed her shoulder blade with a knife, making Valerie scream in pain.
Jenna grinned maniacally and removed the blade before embedding it in the middle of Valerie's back once again and making her yell out.
Jenna grabbed the back of her head and threw her to the ground as Valerie grunted loudly, trying her hardest to get up.
"Jenna....why are you doing....this?" Valerie croaked out through the pain, she could feel her top dampening with her own blood and she knew that she wouldn't take long to bleed out.
"How does it feel to not be the one knowing everything, huh, Valerie?" Jenna chided, circling her like a predator."How does it feel to be outsmarted?"
"Jenna, this isn't you, please..." Valerie croaked out, bleeding profusely as she tried to get up but the knife in her back prevented her from doing so.
"Oh, this is me, alright!" Jenna spat, "all my life, I have seen my father fawning all over you while wall you do is mess things up. My brother fell for you and you were so conceited that you didn't even bother to acknowledge his feelings. He sat on the throne for your sake when all you did was get good old revenge for daddy and mommy." Jenna's words sounded foreign to Valerie but as she looked at her, she realized that she had had this hatred in her all along.
"And guess what?" Jenna spat, "what did you think would happen if you hurt my mate? Huh?" She asked making Valerie furrow her brows.
"Your mate?" Valerie croaked out in confusion.
"Oh, you don't know?" Jenna asked, "of course not, because why would you even care to think about those around you, as long as you're okay?"
"What are you talking about?" Valerie whispered, trying to reach to her back to remove the knife, hoping to heal.
"Oh, don't bother removing it." Jenna pointed out, "you're not going to be able to heal even if you take that out. I poisoned it."
Valerie felt her world come crashing down on her as tears escaped her eyes and she writhed there in pain.
And that was when a set of shoes came into her view and she raised her eyes until she saw the face of the person entering the room.
Fury boiled her blood when she met his blue eyes as he smirked down at her, maliciously.
She struggled on the floor, making all efforts to come to her knees as she glared heatedly at the man who was now standing in front of her.
"John." She spat.
His sordid laugh fell into her ears and she reached to her neck for the sword, but gasped when she couldn't find the pendant on the chain.
Jenna laughed throwing her head back, "oh, you're looking for this?" She asked showing the sword replica to Valerie and her eyes widened.
She watched with horror as Jenna summoned the sword in the palm of her hand and went to stand beside John.
"You should have never been born, Valerie." She hissed, "things were good when your parents were trying to conceive but they couldn't and so, the throne was supposed to come to me. You ruined everything by being Josh and Marianne's little miracle."
Valerie screamed as she propped up her knee and tried to get up slowly, she came to her feet but her body shook profusely because of the poison in her veins.
"Don't worry babe," John said, grinning like a mad man, "now you and I can rule both Kymera and Escalara together." And saying that, he leaned in to kiss Jenna.
Valerie growled at them, "that will never happen!" She shrieked and leaped into the air to shift into her wolf form, knowing that her wolf would be able to heal her long enough to kill them both.
However, John raised his arm towards her then and pulled the trigger of the gun clutched in his hand, shooting all the bullets into Valerie's body, one after the other, making her stumble until she fell backwards and the knife jammed further into her spine.
"What should we do to her, my love?" Jenna crooned, smirking down at where Valerie was lying on the ground, bleeding from all her wounds.
John grinned, "let's leave her in the jungle and see what catches her first: the scavengers or the hunters."
And those were the last words Valerie heard before her eyes began to feel heavy and she lost all consciousness.
