Chapter 77 Chapter 77: William and Amelia Die
Chapter 77 Chapter 77: William and Amelia Die
The car drove for a long time before stopping. Selena was dragged out, her blindfold removed. She found herself in a large warehouse.
William gestured to Amelia, and she immediately tied Selena to a corner. Once she was secure, he pulled out his phone and made a call.
"Hello, Balthazar? Selena is with me. If you’re brave enough, come and get her.”
He then turned on the camera, recording Selena tied up, and sent it. She panicked and shouted:
"I already told you, I’m no longer involved with Balthazar! He won’t come. You’re wasting your time.”
Amelia chimed in:
"Why don’t you ask him for money instead?”
William sneered:
"I don’t want money. I want his life.”
Amelia cautiously backed away. If William only intended to take Selena for his own twisted satisfaction, she might still have a chance. But if he planned to kill Balthazar, she would be eliminated too, whether he succeeded or not.
Regret began to flood Amelia’s mind. She wished she hadn’t followed William, but without money, how could she survive?
Her gaze flickered to the bag of money in the corner, and a malicious glint appeared in her eyes.
If she wanted to live, she had to kill the man in front of her, then kill Selena, and flee with the money.
This thought grew and consumed her mind.
"Die, you bastard!”
Amelia swung a metal rod toward William’s head, but he had anticipated her move and easily dodged.
Bang!
A gunshot rang out. Amelia’s eyes rolled back, her hands clutching her abdomen as blood gushed from her mouth. She collapsed to the ground, dead, her eyes wide open in disbelief.
"Hmph, bitch!”
William spat out the words, stepping beside Selena and forcing her to look at Amelia’s lifeless body.
"Be good, and I won’t hurt you. After all, your body is still useful to me.”
Selena felt a chill spread through her entire body. Once, he had loved Amelia so much that he would have died for her. Now, he had killed her without hesitation.
She no longer understood this man—her ex-husband—who had become a bloodthirsty beast.
"William, is someone controlling you?”
His expression stiffened, but he quickly forced a smile and said:
"Are you trying to scare me, Selena? You’re still as naive as ever.”
Selena stared at him, speaking firmly:
"Whether you believe me or not, once Balthazar comes, you’ll no longer be of use. They’ll kill you.”
"Shut up! I’m not afraid of those gangsters!
William grabbed Selena’s chin, silencing her before she could say anything else that unsettled him.
A month ago, he had been arrested by the police for various offenses: speeding under the influence, fighting with strangers...
At that time, the Sterling family refused to bail him out. He couldn’t save himself, so he resigned himself to being detained.
But then, a garishly made-up woman had come to bail him out, providing him with everything he needed, even giving him a large sum of cash. With that money, he could easily rebuild his life.
However, her one request was for him to lure Balthazar out of S City into this remote, desolate place.
Although he didn’t know what the woman’s intentions were, he assumed she was one of Balthazar’s enemies and agreed, with the reward being money and Selena.
But now, hearing Selena’s words, he realized he might be playing with fire. What if that woman really did intend to dispose of him?
Gripping his backpack full of money, William pulled Selena out of the abandoned warehouse. He had to escape before that woman could get to him.
However, as he dragged Selena toward the car, an eerie, aged voice echoed in his ears:
"Humans are truly masters of broken promises. When you break a deal, you must face the consequences.”
William frantically looked around but saw no one, yet the voice persisted. He began to panic, clutching his head, while Selena calmly stood by, watching him lose his sanity.
"Who are you? Show yourself! Don’t think I’m scared of you! If you’re brave, come out and fight me!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
William fired several shots into the air.
Everything fell silent. He let out a sigh of relief, but his eyes soon widened in terror at the sight before him.
A disembodied head flew towards him, biting deep into his neck. No matter how much he screamed in agony, the head’s sharp teeth sunk further into his flesh, ripping it apart.
Blood sprayed everywhere. William collapsed, his neck gouged with a massive hole, exposing bone and his windpipe.
Selena looked at the bodies of Amelia and William lying before her. Her brows furrowed slightly—not out of fear, but because the stench of blood was so nauseating that it churned her stomach.
The severed head of the woman bared sharp teeth like two saw blades, her tongue extending and brushing against one side of Selena’s face. Selena quickly turned her head away. The head let out a maniacal laugh and said:
"You are nothing more than a concubine serving the god. What right do you have to avoid me?”
Selena frowned and asked:
"Who exactly are you?
The head floated around her a few times before transforming into the figure of the Madame. Two demons with sharp horns appeared beside her.
Selena widened her eyes in shock, realizing that the Madame wasn’t human. Had she been watching her all along?
She recalled what the two divine attendants had said—they wanted her to lure out the demon. Could the demon be this Madame?
The Madame crossed her arms, laughing:
"What’s there to be so surprised about? Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten your help. After I kill Rabanut and take over heaven, I’ll make sure you remain as a concubine to serve my dark gods.”
Selena immediately retorted:
"Rabanut isn’t so easy to defeat. He’s the strongest of the supreme gods.”
The Madame shrugged and replied:
"That’s not certain. Perhaps you haven’t heard the news. After experiencing this so-called human love, your god sealed his powers right after releasing you and followed you here, didn’t he?”
