Chapter 75 Chapter 75: A Desperate Search
Balthazar shot her a cold glare, gritting his teeth as he said, "Selena was never one of your girls. She only used you to get close to me."
With all her money, there was no need for Selena to sell herself. The reason she sought him out in the first place was simply because he had the power to take down William.
With that thought, he threatened her, "You better tell me everything you know about Selena, or I can't guarantee your bar will stay in business."
Upon hearing this, the man standing next to the madam angrily moved to attack Balthazar, but she stopped him, laughing as she said, "You're not wrong, Balthazar. She wasn't one of my girls, so how could I possibly know where she is? She paid me, I introduced her to you, and that's that."
Balthazar clenched his fists tightly. The madam was right. It seemed this visit was a waste of time.
He turned to leave, but the madam suddenly called out, "I may not know where Selena is, but I can help you find her."
Balthazar frowned. He had already used all of his resources to look for her, and he still couldn’t find a trace. How could she possibly succeed where he had failed?
"Stop with the nonsense."
As he prepared to leave, the madam laughed, saying, "If you've exhausted all your resources and still can't find her, why not try the spiritual route?"
Balthazar paused. Why hadn't he thought of that? Although he wasn't superstitious, after all the strange things that had happened with Selena, he couldn't afford not to believe.
"Fine. If you can find Selena, I'll pay whatever it takes."
The madam smiled brightly and raised five fingers. Without hesitation, Balthazar nodded. She grinned and led him deeper into the bar, where everything was pitch black, evoking a sense of fear. But for Selena, Balthazar was willing to step into danger. After all, he had already written his will.
The madam guided him to a room where a large crystal ball sat. She said, "All you need to do is place your hand on it and focus on Selena. Her whereabouts will appear inside the crystal."
Without hesitation, Balthazar placed his hand on the ball. His mind was filled with thoughts of Selena, making it easy for him to concentrate on her.
After about three minutes, the crystal began to glow, and an image of Selena appeared. He didn’t recognize the location, but as she moved, she passed by a temple. In that moment, he realized where she was—this was a famous tourist spot in province D.
Overjoyed, Balthazar dashed out of the dark room. The man by the madam’s side tried to chase after him, but she stopped him.
"Let him go. Our goal wasn’t the money anyway."
The madam looked at the crystal ball, which had turned from white to red, and the corners of her lips curled into a sinister smile.
"I've found you, Rabanut, no, that's not right, it's actually... Caesar.."
Balthazar drove to province D, a journey of several hundred kilometers from S city. It took him two or three hours to arrive.
He rushed to the temple and searched everywhere but couldn’t find her. He then asked the manager of the tourist site to check the cameras, and they discovered that Selena had taken a taxi and left. Using the taxi’s license plate, he tracked down her destination.
After an entire day of searching, Balthazar finally found the place where Selena had been staying.
He let out a sigh of relief, his heart pounding with excitement at the thought of seeing her again. He would explain the situation with Amelia to her, then make her tell him all her secrets. From then on, they would live happily together, never to part.
"Are you looking for Miss Selena? Yes, she was staying here, but she checked out and left two hours ago."
The words hit Balthazar like a ton of bricks, sending him crashing from heaven to hell.
Two hours ago? He had missed her by just two hours?
Slumping against his car, Balthazar pulled out his phone and made a call.
"Go to the bar I frequent and find the madam. Tell her I’m willing to pay an extra five billion. She needs to track down Selena’s whereabouts for me."
After giving his assistant instructions, Balthazar tiredly climbed into his car and drove away.
As soon as his car left, Selena emerged from a secluded corner. She gently touched her belly, feeling heartache at seeing him so frantic in his search for her.
But… she couldn’t take any risks. It was better to wait until she had given birth before making any decisions. By then, she would decide whether to give Balthazar another chance.
With a deep sigh, Selena was about to leave and find a new place to stay when everything suddenly went dark. When she came to, she found herself face-to-face with two familiar people.
After losing track of Selena, Balthazar drove to the madam's bar. But strangely, in just a few hours, the bar had closed, and the surrounding area was desolate, with no one there to greet customers.
He remembered that even during the day, security guards would always be stationed at the entrance. What was going on now?
His assistant called to report:
"Boss, I can’t get in touch with the madam, and everyone associated with her has disappeared, as if they vanished into thin air."
Balthazar stood frozen for a long time, the call already ended, yet he remained unaware.
What on earth was happening?
Selena, have you really disappeared from my life just like that?
Balthazar returned home, his heart heavy. Everywhere in the villa, he saw traces of Selena. Her presence filled every corner, but now, he only felt emptiness.
Selena had once cleaned the living room, waiting for him in the kitchen as she cooked, played the piano, and sang in the garden. Every nook and cranny of the house had been touched by her hands, even his body. How could he possibly forget her?
